m0n5t3r Posted December 22 Posted December 22 Finally received my Riobot Legioss reissue with Robotech branding at the back of the box. Very satisfied to finally complete the Legioss trio. Although I did it backwards... Iota, Zeta and Eta last . Just quickly took a peek to make sure it's the latest reissue with the golden eyes like the Zeta. Too bad though about the Tread. That Robotech branding may have something to do with it becoming a Japan-only release. My crazy theory is Sentinel either drastically cut their planned production numbers to only serve the domestic preorders and totally disregard all the confirmed international preorders... OR... they went ahead with their planned production run and somewhere (probably a warehouse in China) there's a ton of Treads just lying around waiting for whatever issues that came up to be resolved. davidwhangchoi Posted December 23 Posted December 23 amazon cancelled mine, i'm jealous. i have to give up and hope in 2027 they reprint some and there's no tariffs in a few years. Quote
Froy Posted Friday at 01:16 PM Posted Friday at 01:16 PM (edited) I don't recognize that gundam model? What series is it from? Oh, wait.. Joke aside, the Eta was pretty colorful already. I kinda don't like the way this turning. It is like, are you trying to have a low visibility for the enemy or just fly around in a big bullseye target. Edited Friday at 01:19 PM by Froy Quote
m0n5t3r Posted Friday at 02:36 PM Posted Friday at 02:36 PM (edited) Too much going on with that design. a dish that becomes a shield with a gun that looks like a lance. Oddly long and weirdly angled canards. Forward swept wings with guns at the tip? And it's wearing what looks like some kind of Aussie sports uniform/tracksuit. I’m honestly a bit confused by the purpose. It appears to be a recon unit in fighter mode, yet close combat in soldier mode. I guess it would be a bit cliche if it was a sniper in soldier mode, but close combat just seems like an odd choice. 42 minutes ago, jenius said: You guys are a bunch of bah humbugs, I think it looks fun. Not gonna ruin your fun, just a little confused by the choice in design and purpose. But if you don’t mind, then that’s really all that matters. jenius Posted Friday at 09:27 PM Posted Friday at 09:27 PM (edited) Yes, I thought we would have heard of a reissue already... Hopefully Sentinel has something up their sleeve. Edited Friday at 09:48 PM by jenius Quote
Chronocidal Posted Friday at 09:36 PM Posted Friday at 09:36 PM I got my Tread pre-ordered with Nin-Nin back at the initial pre-order, and have yet to hear from them about any shipping option, so I'm biding my time. I asked about shipping when it came in, and they said something about their warehouse shipping working.. not like any other site I've seen with a warehouse option. Something about shipping out as a bulk order at the end of the month? I don't know. But that was right as the tariffs hit, and I held off trying to ship it, since I don't know if they ever worked out a method. Then holiday travel happened. Hopefully I can actually get it shipped out soon. Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted Saturday at 12:05 AM Posted Saturday at 12:05 AM The Tread is easily my toy of the year!!! Quote
Mog Posted Saturday at 12:17 AM Posted Saturday at 12:17 AM There's areas that can be improved upon (the head turning to the side, a slightly wider A-stance, more knee bend, a thigh or knee swivel joint, and allowing the chest covers to drop just a smidge to not block the bottom row of missiles). But it's such a massive, revolutionary improvement over all previous Tread designs that I gotta agree with your take. This is what 15+ years of design improvements should look like (glares angrily at Bandai). Quote

No, I see where you're coming from what with the colors and stuff like the wingtip guns on forward-swept wings. Also the shoulder missiles kinda look like red flat pieces. Quote

It doesn't feel like they should but maybe they need an agreement with Toynami to distribute internationally and that's the hold-up? The Tread already has the Robotech license on the back of the box like the latest Legioss reissue. They originally didn't bother with international licensing because they felt the international sales wouldn't be large enough to warrant the headache of dealing with other companies but that may have changed with such a low demand item like the Tread. I could just imagine it being like "Hey, let's pay the 5% and get the HG license so we can sell this wholesale through international channels" and then they get the license only for HG to tell them "Oh, and you have to use Toynami and they want 5% also" and that being where the wheels come off. Who knows though, I don't have anyone left at the company to ask Quote

I believe that, just as happened before with Tread, as explained above, HG might force them to put their seal on the packaging. After all, Dark Legion has been sold recently in the West, and we know how picky they are about their supposed properties (as happened at SDCC 2013). Quote

Shawn Posted yesterday at 02:41 AM Posted yesterday at 02:41 AM Over Christmas break, met a fellow MW member up in a Costco Parking lot in the LA area who happened to have bought that Mospeada Legioss Armo-Fighter Hanken cel from last year. It was HUGE! With so much crazy detail. Lighting/glare was horrible which scrambled the focus, sorry, but at least you can sense the scale of it sitting in the back of an SUV. Amazing piece!!! It was quite funny seeing people walk by wondering what all the fuss was about. If anyone ever finds out where the 2 Mosepada bike versions are, make sure to let me know Quote

Who knows though, I don't have anyone left at the company to ask I was thinking HG didn't bother before cuz it was just the Legioss, and really just the blue one since that's the only one with the high production numbers and possible reissues, what with the red and green ones not being as popular. It's entirely possible they couldn't touch the ride armors since they were stylized modern reinterpretations of the original ones from the show. But with the release of the Tread, which has a much higher retail price, plus the upcoming Toyrise Mospeada stuff and the Pose+ and Moshow stuff, they decided they wanted a piece of the action... just my 2 cents. Anyway, I hope things get sorted out soon and the Tread gets reissued and made available from international vendors. I'm really tempted to get the one I saw available on one of the online shopping sites we have here, but for $400. Edited yesterday at 03:16 AM by m0n5t3r Quote

I hate the arched feet, and I can't understand why they don't have the upper part of the foot angled forward like the original design. Moreover, from what I can infer from the pics, it doesn't appear that the feet retract into the legs, so all that oversized foot is just hanging out back there. As a toy, with playability being emphasized over slavish toon/lineart accuracy, honestly, I think this is done pretty well, other than the feet. Kinda sucks that the leg panels don't open to reveal the rocket launchers, but this looks to take a note from Transformers with weapon storage essentially coming down to just tabbing them on wherever via 5mm ports. Not my personal preference, but it is what it is. This AWACS version seems a little busy to me, but I like the blue one ok. I'm curious if the feet can be spread like the OG design instead of being bunched up like weird high-heel shoes. Quote

It doesn't fit the Mospeada aesthetic. I agree that it looks Gundamy, or even 70's Yamato-like with the Cosmo Zero-esque conical protrusions and wingtip guns. I wanted to call it the Stampede Legioss, but that's a little too kind. I really don't know who the heck this design is for. You'd think they'd want to market these to, oh I dunno, Mospeada fans. Quote
danth Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago In other news, I assume BBTS is just not coming through with my Tread. I dare not ask them about it, since they might be looking for any excuse to cancel my pre-order. Maybe I'll console myself by pre-ordering those Moderoid ride armors. Quote
Shawn Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Did you check out the 3 page article from the designers? https://hobby.dengeki.com/reviews/2739360/ They do explain why they chose to be Legioss like, but not Legioss accurate (like colors), and there are some angles not seen in other pics, like the extended feet. I'm going into this as an inexpensive Legioss-like design, with budget and pose-ability at the forefront. The 30k Riobot is the more 'accurate' interpretation, but it drives me nuts being so small. From the pics I think this one should be much easier to transform (my assumption not proven yet) They also mention the removable canopy, so maybe its going to be used in some truly new designs or mecha interpretations. "Tobari: This time, the "Toyrise AFC-01X Ω Regios Omega" is a custom machine, but we are also considering commercializing the same types of variable fighters as the "Eta," "Zeta," and "Iota," which are familiar to "MOSPEADA" fans, as well as the variable combat support machine (bomber) "Tread." However, that doesn't mean we'll stop there. For example, we are planning products that will further expand the scope of play, such as a machine that is an intermediate form between "Regios" and "Tread," or a machine that can be combined into three, although these are still in the concept stage."
