Mechapilot77
Personally I Still wouldn't buy it knowing it had an issue until and unless you're a die hard macross zero fan which I'm not. The story somehow didn't appeal to me compared to robotech/macross. i understand that sentiment but...the fix looks easy so i'm not going to sweat that issue too much. Kelsain
Do You Remember when this thread's title meant $45 Vf-1s? I really wish I hadn't been unemployed back then...
no3Ljm
They removed the pre-order discount. That usually happens when they've stopped taking pre-orders and the page goes to 'order stop'. I wonder if it's an error. yup, same amount as you, maybe their sale will stretch to December that's why they removed the preorder discount ahead of time. I wonder if we will also get a extra discount if the VF-0s comes in before the sale is over. I see. I just hope they lower the price for the VF-0S PO's during Thanksgiving. I might buy two. And looks at the wallet... I am wondering if HLJ removed the pre-order price because they usually run a Black Friday deal on most their inventory. I remember a few years back I picked up an Arcadia Fire valk with sound booster on Black Friday. Yet, black Friday deals are probably only for in stock items and not pre-order items. VF-0A maybe??? So you're going to buy the VF-0A inspite of the hip joints problem posted here by most of its owners? Do You Remember when this thread's title meant $45 Vf-1s? I really wish I hadn't been unemployed back then... $45? Wow! Was that the V1 or V2? And what year was that? If it is, and it's around 2002-2008, I guess I was focused back then with Gundams. Kelsain
That was 09-10, v2's. Usually it was Kakizaki that would drop that far. I remember being severely tempted by the low vis 1S for $90. I had just moved cross country, doing the stay at home dad bit with my new baby. I figured there was always the next sale... Just started collecting 1/60 in 2013. I think months after Yamato signed off. Months after they release the VF-4G to be exact.
derex3592
I'm really glad I was 100% in the game in the golden days of Yamato. Every ver2 VF-1 I have minus the Super Ostrich and the rare brown VF-1J Commander type I got for retail or on good holiday sale back then. I keep a spreadsheet of what I pay for my collection and I couldn't imagine trying to get what I have after Yamato folded. I really feel for the guys who had to start late! Guest davidwhangchoi
i remember i got yamato super and strike roy 1s for 135 shipped. i thought it was the greatest toy ever, until my shoulder cracked. hlj had vt-1 in the bargain bin for so long... nobody wanted that trash
SuperSenpai
As a latecomer, I remembering browsing HKCollectibles and seeing the sold-out listings for V2 stuff. This was shortly after Yamato folded and prices were going through the roof. I couldn't believe some of the prices... SSP for less than $50! kajnrig
I don't understand the lack of enthusiasm. It's an additional 5-17% off of already-discounted items, no? Are you all upset simply because the discount isn't greater? Also, Black Friday isn't a big thing in Japan, or much of the world for that matter. English-language company though this may be, it's still part of a national culture that doesn't indulge in absurd commercialism quite as fervently or voraciously as America does. C'mon. jenius
We have seen epic Black Friday sales before so the bar was set quite high... but that was back in the Yamato days when Yamato would flood the market and everyone would wait for tremendous sales to get their V2 VF-1 toys for less than $80. Sandman
Yeah HLJ used to have great black friday sales. It was a good way to get shelf warmers for half off. I was keeping an eye out on some expensive shelf warmers (not macross). I was sure they would try to blow them out since they'd been in stock over a year. Nope. Disappointing. Scyla
In the Black Friday sale two years ago I canceled and renewed all my preorders because there where a flat 20% discount on all items. It seems like it is the same sale as last year where where I made a mistake in ordering the Riobot Jehuty just to see it go on sale on a much higher discount a few weeks later. Not this time HLJ *shakes fist in anger* Edited November 27, 2015 by Scyla
kajnrig
Lol, yeah, I had my Hasegawa Super VF-25/Bandai 1/100 Barbatos preorder fulfilled just a couple hours before the sale started. A shame, but that Barbatos wouldn't have been available when the sale started. It sold out like hotcakes.
locidm
Not sure why HLJ would ever repeat the discount off preorder sale again. It only happened the one year but the expectation since last year should have been it would never happen again.
Loop
I remember back when HLJ used to have the Massive black friday deals on things you actually wanted, and on top of it they would give huge discounts on FedEx shipping or EMS at that. Oh yeah forgot about the discounts on shipping. Was just thinking about the shipping discounts the other day as well. They used to do that fairly regularly IIRC. This sale wouldn't be so bad, but as everyone is saying, there's not much that I want, or don't already have that's available and on sale. -b. mickyg
As an added punch in the guts, I didn't read the fine print very well and assumed I could make a few orders over the sale period, and put them in my private warehouse, in order to equal the full discount qty. Turns out you can't. It all has to be in one transaction. It doesn't specifically state this, but it does state something about "payment processing" meaning as long as you get all your orders done before payment is made, you're probably covered. But it's a total crapshoot to know how much time that is. I'm sure there are instances where "payment processing" happens within minutes of placing the order. Oh well... In their terms they did state that the discount is per order and that you can not manually combine them . Also if you haven't pay yet , you can try emailing them to cancel all those orders , just tell them the truth that you mess up and would appreciated if they can cancel those orders for you so you can reorder them together .Once they cancel them , just redo a big order. I I've got a PayPal billing agreement with them. So as soon as the order was ready for payment, it happened. Nothing I could do. I'm not too upset by it. Missed out on another 5% discount on an order of about $100 so it's no big deal. Here were the terms: • The Black Friday Sale discount is per order that you've placed and been charged for during the campaign period. If you have multiple orders in payment processing, we're afraid they aren't able to be manually combined to make a greater total value, sorry! Plasticgoose
I will still end up buying the zero line even with the hip issue. Arcadia is unlikely to do another release or do a bundle with reactive armor or ghost which would give them time to address the issue. Somewhat how Yamato bundled zero/ghost valks were not prone to the standalone issues. Plus I like my valks in fighter mode. Major Focker
the 17% BF additional discount amounted to over $200 on a big cart with many small items, the Hase VF-25 and Episode Archives book being the only Macross related items. decent sale.
