You'll have to remodel all the surface detailing on the shin armor, forearm armor, face, mono-eye, antenna and feet. They have a similar shape but the details are very different. Honestly, there’s a lot of difference as far as the surfaces, the lower arms are very beefy in the show and the head has a different face and antennae. I think the movie version would look cool in green either way though. But I’ve kinda got maybe a bit too much hope that the TV version is in the works. If I know Hasegawa though, the obvious reuse of the mold will be for a max version, and more than likely a recolor, as a grunt color. Personally I’m gonna wait and see if they do the tv version down the line, to save my brain on modifications. Not only that, but it would probably have the proper decals. But don’t let my opinions stop anyone from trying. It would be a lot of work, but it would be great to see and there isn’t a guarantee that Hasegawa will do a tv version, just higher hopes after seeing how far they went with variations on the Regult and Robot Battle V kits recently Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

SteveTheFish Posted September 7, 2023 Share Posted September 7, 2023 I never noticed any cosmetic differences between the show and the movie. For the male power armor, though, it is very different. The movie version looks way better while the TV version looks clunky. This has inspired me to start working on the old Bandai repop of the Imai kit I own. I bought it over 18 years ago and all I did with it was paint the figure. Last night I did assembly on the legs and such, but I'll have to paint many of the parts separately before assembling, then do touch-up painting. The last couple Macross releases didn’t seem to appear at many U.S. stores. I had seen the Regult and I think the light missile type, but the scout and heavy were much harder to find and didn’t seem too cheap. I’m sure they’re going to produce a TV version, since they label this one as the movie version. They seem to be pretty systematic with that, like they did with the SDF-1. I’m still curious why the Regult Scout is already listed as discontinued at HLJ. I wonder if it didn’t sell well, even though it’s sold out everywhere. The Large / Heavy Missile variant briefly said the same thing yesterday but is now back to saying in stock in 3-5 days. I just successfully backordered the Small Missile version, which restocked a day after I ordered it. I hope they make the Scout available again soon. HLJ's "Discontinued" label is notoriously unreliable and is basically never a reflection of what the actual manufacturer states. Hasegawa has shown that their "limited" kits will eventually come back. They are BIG! Painting them was difficult since I was getting used to using V-Color vinyl paints. Yuri was a bootleg kit from Korea to boot, so her surface had too many dimples. I had to use a surfacer to fill in the dimples, and that is the problem. V-Color paints are better going directly onto vinyl, so I had a lot of paint lift off with masking tape and it drove me crazy. Kei, OTOH, was an original Fukaya and did not have such flaws.
