Regarding the pilots, I'm taking a step back and just thankful that the HMR have any pilots at all. It seems that having pilots is not a standard practice for any toys at this 1/100 scale, and are sorely missed when they aren't included.

Just got notice from proxy that Kakizaki has arrived. Now I'm regretting decision to ordering Max from somewhere else so can't combine shipping.

Very nice! Even the box/box art and the inner card I found very nice. The left arm constantly popping off was the only trouble I had while transforming.

I really don't get Bandai sometimes. I mean they already make the Hi-Metal R DYRL VF-1 pilots a decent, more realistic size, but still keep on making the TV VF-1 pilots tiny.

It's because they are being stupidly faithful to bad animation, and they keep looking at the frames where the pilots actually were microscopic, instead of deciding to use a brain cell and make something that actually makes sense.  

Funny, that's even one of the better looking stills from that episode, but having that much space in the cockpit, let alone carrying a baby in her lap, is absolutely insane.  Her arms don't even look long enough to reach the instrument panel.

The animators are still a step above Bandai, because they at least included the ejection seat warning.

Has anything even changed on that in the past several years?  I can't read it, but I'm guessing the A-model on there was a combo space for Max and Kakizaki?

I believe the 1A space was specifically for Kakizaki. And they did the TV version of the GBP within the last year.

The GBP was one of the earliest releases they did though, it's been around for years.  They just did a re-release recently to match the white plastic and canopy they used for the Hikaru 1S release.

The colors were way better back then. The actual release is too dark
