  1. I haven’t been on the forums much lately, but wanted to share a couple of my latest acquisitions. (Thanks to @Ridden001 for the HMR Monster - now if I can just figure out a place to put it!)
  2. Great idea, and nicely done! The print lines in the tent give it a fabric-like texture.
  3. HMR is great for the desk! Mine have been keeping me company through the last several months at home. Recently decided to set up a Hikaru shelf.
  4. So sad. There are still so many untapped opportunities. Maybe Bandai will come back to it one day. You could post in the Wanted section. You may need to buy a donor valk. Also note that the color is a little different depending on which one you're trying to replace.
  5. Pretty much my thoughts. Would have been nice to grab one at HLJ. Looks like they are showing "discontinued" now.
  6. Wow, just watched Empire Strikes Back last night with my family. I’m showing the movies to my son for the first time. We were talking about how James Earl Jones got no voice credit in the original release.
  7. Just snagged a Roy off of Amazon. I figure that may be about the best option for now. Looks like Buyee was going to run a little higher with handling fees, etc. I will probably pass on the 1D, but it's really cool to see Bandai making it.
  8. Complete set of empty Skull squadron boxes from the Bandai Hi-Metal VF 1/100 line, including Hikaru, Max, Kakizaki, and Roy. No toys or parts are included. Both Max and Kakizaki include instructions; Roy and Hikaru do not. Does not include the outer sleeve that holds them all together. Original plastic inserts are included. Condition is reasonably good. Appropriately, it appears that Max is probably in the best shape, and Kakizaki is in the worst shape. Asking $15 plus shipping. Please PM me with your zip code for a quote.
  9. Looking for an original Hi-Metal (not HMR) 1/100 VF-1J Hikaru. I'm not very particular on condition, though would prefer to avoid yellowing as much as possible. Loose (without packaging) is OK. PM me with what you've got and how much.
  10. Yep, so much Macross potential remaining in this line. Bandai seems to be putting all their Macross focus into DX these days. This has been a bit of a tight year for me financially, so I'm glad for the break in that sense, but would really like to get my hands on some new HM-R!
  11. I was in my 20s when 7 was released, and would agree that yes, it does fit with that early '90s visual style. I think it's safe to say that every Macross series is to some extent a product of its times, and the trends of some decades age better than others. I just finished another watch-through of 7, and while the animation looks good (albeit frequently repetitive) I don't think the colorful style has aged as well as some other series like SDFM and Zero. The other thing I noticed about 7's animation is that they didn't do such a great job of making Fire Bomber look realistic while in concert. As a musician myself, I notice this sort of thing, and can usually tell if an actor is really playing or not. As much as I've heard that Kawamori and crew go to great lengths to research accurate fighter pilot moves, you'd think they would have done the same with a series that relied so heavily on its music.
  12. Bought this off AliExpress, and realized it wasn’t going to work for my needs. I believe this is essentially a replica of what came included with the Arcadia 30th Anniversary VF-1J. My understanding is that this will theoretically work with 1/60 VF-1, VF-19, VF-25, VF-29. Asking $5 plus shipping via Paypal F&F
  13. To quote Max himself: Utsukushi!
  14. Get yourself a few sets of the Hi Metal VF-1 super parts from about 10 years ago, and you’re covered, assuming you don’t mind that the arm parts are movie style. I’m pretty sure that’s what they used in that photo.
  15. Those were fun to hear! Lion is probably my favorite song from Frontier, though I think the big band style is better suited to the original Macross theme.
  16. All those would great to see. But you know they already did the Monster, right?
  17. I don’t own a Messer, but believe the white plastic is unique to that version. Other HMR VF-1S head lasers are gray. The original Hi Metal 1S is closer, but still off white, and also sculpted differently. If Bandai had decided to give us a true TV version VF-1S in HMR, that white color would have been perfect.
  18. Looking forward to seeing that Q-Rau painted up in TV colors, @sh9000
  19. That Lego NES looks sweet. I'd be tempted to get one as an accessory for my retro game setup. The mechanism inside the TV makes me think that some could design their own game screens after other titles.
  20. From what I’ve seen, the original Hi Metal TV Hikaru 1J was much more likely to yellow than the DYRL 1S and 1A versions, with its really bright white plastic.
  21. Agreed. Whenever a review starts with anything resembling “DO NOT BUY THIS” they lose me. I understand people’s need to vent, but I don’t need to be the recipient.
  22. Glad that some of you were able to get a Roy PO in at HLJ. I missed out on this round. That said, seeing it pop back up on HLJ was how I got my Hikaru VF-1J, so I'd be confident they will fulfill the order. Hopefully I'll be able to secure a Roy eventually.
  23. Yeah, that’s too steep for me at this point. Sorry to hear about your health situation. Hope things continue to improve.
