The once mighty MG line has become a shadow of itself lately.

Cost of materials, manufacturing and labor have resulted in MSRPs twice what they used to be, and -- since the cost-cutting RE:100 line has been discontinued -- the market has shrunk to us die-hards willing to pay exorbitant prices for Gundam Fix Figuration, Metal Build, and model kits at 1:100 scale.

Unfortunately, the retail standard is now 1:144, 'cause that's all the average consumer can afford any more. 🤕

Seeing that the Shin Burning Gundam gets a kit makes me hopeful that the Build Fighters shows and designs have had some impact on the Gundam fandom (since they are my favorite Gundam show and have the best Gundam designs).

I wonder how long I have to wait for a full Metal Build Build Fighters lineup. ;)

I will say with the current quality (and removal of much of the B runner), the new RGs are taking the place of MGs. I do appreciate they cost less, and take less space.

That epyon is looking pretty good, and I’m not really a fan of that design

If anyone is interested... since its a daban release:
https://gundamit.com/daban-1-60-pg-rx93v-gundam-model-kit_p2670.html

But it has a hefty tag... other sites/distributors are getting them in and eventually listing them in the oncoming days/weeks.

Wow. Looks like a lot of folks got interested to it. It's already sold out. :shok:

geezz that was fast because when I posted it... the listing was still available. Gundamit's deposits are tough to pass up honestly, it usually starts at 1$.

I didn't order it cause I already own the MS.

Just finished building the Master Grade Full Armor Gundam from Gundam Thunderbolt Ver. Ka. My son did the water slide and panel lining, carbon scoring effects using a Gundam marker.IMG_9624.jpeg.6f530b55e1d08b3fe9caf96c34980874.jpeg

It was pretty awesome being a joint venture! Took me 3 days to build, and took him a week to take it all apart again and do the water slide decals and Panay lining/carbon scoring effects! He thought up the carbon scoring on his own after I explained why the joints had the “rubber” covering to keep the fine dust out of the mobile suit joints! He has only built Real Grade and High Grade Gundams so far, now he wants to try Master Grade. If I can convince the wife to let me get another Perfect Grade, I’m sure he would really add some awesome touches!

Enjoy building the High Grade Zaku II with your son, the real grade version of that mobile suit is pretty cool too!

Zeta Ver Ka complete! Really liked working on this kit and I feel it has been the easiest Ver Ka kit I have worked on. Articulation is great and it looks great! My only complaint would be the lack of a forward butterfly joint but its a minor nitpick.

Looks great! I bought the kit few weeks ago but i didn't have the time to build it yet. Just out of curiosity, did you paint it and top coat it?

Aargh, anubis, I wanted to skip this but now I can't anymore.

Highly recommend it. Its the most fun I have had with a Ver Ka kit. They usually have some annoying component to them but this build was pretty smooth.

Is there a way to get the page in English?

The icons are actually helpful in guiding you to the preferred action. That said I think the most useful search type is by series. And the Full Mechanics search doesn't find anything.

So far, it’s still easier after fiddling with this just to use hobby search. Maybe they’ll get it more user friendly in the future and hopefully in English as well as other languages

Another resource for manual scans is dalong.net. They have manuals, box photos, etc. for a bunch of legacy items as well, and a lot of the other manufacturers, too. (They're incomplete, especially now that every company and their mother have decided to dip their toes into the hobby, but still manage to cover a surprisingly huge swathe of the industry.)

I can't compare the quality of the scans though because the bandai-hobby site is taking ages to load for me.

EDIT: Manuals finally started loading for me. Yep, they're definitely of significantly higher quality than dalong's old jpegs, being probably the literal digital sources used for printing and all. Took a while to load, though, so in a pinch dalong's pics are probably faster. Still, that's such a great resource to have. Now I only hope to be able to download each one of them for posterity's aske.

Faking has a lot of scans, but I find the site frustrating to use in my phone. It seems easier with a computer though. I tend to check things like that out more when using my phone for some odd reason.

Finished pics of the MG EX-S. Beautiful kit to look at, a pain in the a$$ to pose. I took it as personal challenge to try and get some poses out of it, but this kit is a brick and its better to just be left alone standing there and looking cool. I based my paint scheme on the Metal Robot Damashii EX-S that has some camo painted on it. Now I think I'm gonna have a running theme of doing some kind of camo on all my Sentinel builds. Hopefully I get to the Mk V and FAZZ soon. I replaced the Incom wires with brass rods because the wires included with the kit are unable to hold them up in place. As stated previously this was a pre-built kit I got in a trade a few years ago. Previous owner panel lined it completely which I couldn't remove, he also painted some thing with Gundam marker which I did remove, and a ton of parts had been glued. A couple of builders over at TFW2005 helped me with some spare pieces to complete this build.

After all the things that you have posted, I'm curious to see your whole setup of finished kits. I'm pretty sure it looks like a museum. ;)

Its kind of meh tbh. I cant put them in action poses and have to constantly play gunpla tetris to try and fit them in the detolf. For the EX-S I had to get its own display cube because it doesnt fit anywhere :wacko:IMG_8076.JPG.86b4711a0b773cfb299d17db89dbde9e.JPG

@anubis20 you definitely did this kit justice; it must have been a tedious affair.

Are the decals aftermarket or did they come with the kit?

I didnt find is as tedious as the MGEX Strike Freedom but it definitely took a while. The kit only includes stickers, these are aftermarket decals from G-Rework
