jvmacross Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Maybe they will just telease those tiny VFs again with Robotech branding.... ...still, would be a first in terms of SDFM merch.... Too bad it was not a Bandai x Robotech announcement.... Quote
Raikkonen Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Exactly. Likely the same in just Robotech packaging. However, Tomica does make some decent premium dioramas and scene extras. Quote
M'Kyuun Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Ah, but the joke's on whoever thinks Takara will make a decent transforming jet let alone anything nearly as efficient as the VF-1. Maverick is about as close as they'll ever come to the VF-1, and it wasn't as clean or as well executed as its inspiration. This should be interesting, though. I wonder if this their way of making a G1ish Jetfire for the main line? Quote
judgedoug Posted July 25 Posted July 25 I wouldn't mind some affordable robust Transformers style Valkyries. I basically don't play with my Yamato/Arcadia/Bandai/Kitzconcept stuff, so having a cheaper and tougher Valkyrie, even if less accurate, would be nice Quote

Raikkonen Posted July 25 Posted July 25 (edited) That looks pretty decent. Concern is the price when weighing their Diaclone transformable planes. Thankfully it's not like their transformer's crossover. Edited July 25 by Raikkonen Quote

From the Mospeada prototype Takara seems to be staying true to their MO, producing playable toys instead if ultra expensive collector pieces. Quote

This is what I want them to do. Bandai already makes expensive stuff that's too delicate to play with. I'd love something I could leave on my desk and transform more than once in a blue moon. Quote

Takara tends to prioritize playability before collectability. Quote
Mog Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Why not both? Playable stuff that doesn’t have a massive brick on the alt underside. Quote

jvmacross Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Oh well....guess BW's stranglehold on vendor's ability to sell their Japanese SDFM merch continues.... Quote

I'm still intrigued, but at the same time not really enamoured by it. Agree with all plus I'm not totally digging the color choices, either. The lemony yellow looks gaudy. Moreover, it looks like they took some license with the weapons (where's the single pop-up shoulder cannon or the single big rocket launcher that sits between the shoulders in fighter?). However, if Bandai is giving them access to all the old 1/55 Takatoku designs, I wonder if there's a new Roadbuster and Whirl coming? I really want updated poseable toys. Quote

Since it is specifically Takara as the licensor they might not care for a G1 Jetfire since, to my knowledge, Jetfire was never released in Japan. Also since we don’t know what specifically they licensed from Harmony Gold it could be that they don’t have the license for Macross (and this showing a mecha from Mospeada). I'm optimistic on it. The original Omega Supreme and Sky Lynx, whose molds came from the company Toybox, got their first releases in Japan with the 2000s Encore line. Something similar perhaps could happen here. Edited July 27 by pablumatic Quote
Winterstar_343 Posted July 27 Posted July 27 It's kinda cute. If the price isn't too egregious I could definately see it making a good desk buddy. Quote
Hikuro Posted July 28 Posted July 28 I'm absolutely fine with the design and overall look of the Alpha. There's a lot of people probing about the "scale" of the figure. Lots of hopeful fans are wanting a cheaper 1/48 alternative from Sentinel. But for some reason they don't seem to understand that Takara does their own thing and not follow the "scale" method. I'm guessing this thing will probably be close to Commander or maybe even Leader class. Quote
WhatBoutMyStar Posted July 28 Posted July 28 I thought it was already determined that the Toyrise Legioss was 1/60 according to this tweet. https://x.com/sakichooboys/status/1922596757168374217 So it'll be a little smaller than the Sentinel. We've seen pics of it on a stand that looks equivalent to a Tamashii stage mech stand, so it's going to be a relatively smaller figure. Quote

Being that small there is no way the engineering could be that complex. Plus is on the line of a toy and not a super expensive collectible Quote
Raikkonen Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Not everything has to be a high end collectable with perfect transformation designed over many years and cost a limb or two. For what it is, I believe it's great. Love the Gundam eyes too. I'm not pulling the trigger though due to the eventuality of white plastic. Will wait for final price and other colour schemes. Quote

jenius Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Totally agree, would be fun to see some Macross inspired paint schemes in these products. Quote

MKT Posted July 29 Posted July 29 (edited) Cross-posting: Maeno-san, who did the whole suit of Sentinel’s Mospeada toys, is also the designer of Toyrise’s Legioss. No wonder the proportions are so similar. He has also confirmed the scale is 1/60, & intentionally made it simpler than Sentinel's. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1EtEaoj7Pg/?mibextid=wwXIfr Edited July 29 by MKT Quote

What's funny is, if they were just mounted under the intakes, they'd still be facing forward in armo soldier mode anyway, without further complicating the transformation. Quote
