It's what got me excited actually. Hopefully it's REALLY based on the manga art style this time. And yes, Fuchikoma! ;)

I’d be very curious if it was more like the manga. Not only that, but I’d love a plastic model of the og Fuchikima

I would love for this new show to use the manga designs.

Is it too early to hope Applessed gets the same treatment? :D

Same here, and not too be an ugly cgi mess

To quote them from the original Playstation game cut scenes...

That game made me dizzy. I remember getting stuck on the side of a pillar and if you run full speed, it made the room spin extremely violently.

I've been waiting for a manga-accurate GitS anime for a very long time

I don’t know how accurate it’s gonna be, but definitely looks really cool design wise compared to most of the other shows.

shame to me, i own Ghost in the shell since the launch of dvd's in late 90's- 2000's and still haven't watched it.  i own and watched 2nd gig series and still haven't bothered to watch the movie. someday i'll get to it. It was at the time marketed as the next big quality anime release after Akira.  One day....

BTW the marketing on the2nd gig movie is not on the same level as Akira ..

I'm looking forward to this new retro-take. Although I'm a reader, for some odd reason I never got into comics or Manga by extension. I'm sure, just as comparing reading a book to a TV or movie adaptation, the Manga offers more in the way of, well, everything. From what I've read about the Manga, prompted by commentary here, the TV and movie adaptations of GitS certainly have been cleansed of their more sexual material. I'm sure this new film will follow suit (to make it more general viewer friendly and avoid an X rating) which is fine, if not preferable. After the excellent SAC series, I look forward to the stories, characters, philosophical musings, gory death scenes, cool robots/mecha, and general tone that the franchise has become known and loved for. I don't need or want it to devolve into hentai regardless of the original manga.

First teaser

That thumbnail is hilarious. Looks almost like basic sci fi fantasy till you realize that everyone is in their undies. Even the bearded dude at the top doing a spreadie on top of a spider robot trying to look like he’s challenging Jeff Goldblum from the first Jurassic park to see who can pull off the most seductive pose.

My goodness, a manga based GitS anime AND a new Patlabor show.  What year is it again?

Hoping for some cool model kits from the new show since they already got that new Patlabor one as a real grade coming up. I want a really fun Fuchikoma with all the crazy joints

I'm honestly just really looking forward to them pulling from the older manga style characters.  The art is looking pretty similar to the cutscenes in the old PS1 GITS game, and it makes me smile.

More modern styling of highlights and such, but the characters themselves are making me think of older shows... heck, the greenish hair is halfway giving me Jenius vibes. ^_^

Actually, looking back at those game cutscenes, a lot of the character art really reminds me of SDFM artwork.  The art was kind of rough, partly from the low resolution, but the characters had the same sort of "lumpy" look that many of the side characters in SDFM had.

She’s definitely looking a little lumpy around the chin.

that game was fun but flawed. I remember being able to beat it by just staying out of the enemy range. Also remember getting motion sickness when I got my Fuchikoma stuck on a column and pushed forward. The screen went in circles and I forgot which way I was facing

The lumps there I think are from an upscale of the scenes, but I'm thinking more about how the Zentaedi miclones looked.  Some of the characters definitely remind me of them.

The chief especially is looking back to this older style, which is a pretty big jump from how detailed the characters tended to get in SAC.

I think the real kicker will be if the Fuchikoma make cartoony faces.
