So no love for Max’s or Miria’s 1J then (as per the model kits by Imaii or from Bandai back in the day). So.. that means Bandai is going to leave us high and dry by way their teased yet never will be done projects (which seems to be the norm)

Are you serious Bandai? This was teased more than five years ago when Hikaru’s GBP was shown in public with Max’s version of the GBP as well. Bandai said that they were not going to make it, but they decided to after all (now 6/7 (?) yrs after the DX 1j & GBP combo set was released). 🤨

Imagine how butt-hurt the HMR Phalanx and Tomahawk must feel right about now....

Hey, I'm happy to see them finally prove the line isn't dead with a release I can happily snooze through. :p

Wake me up when they decide to release something actually seen in a series or movie.

Once again, no TV Kaki so I can be done, one day, some day, I will have it. Maybe I can finish Vermillion sometime around 2030 at this rate, that'd be okay I guess.

Phtt…. Bandai couldn’t be even bothered to make the M&M 1J set with Supers even if they cared. Just leave everything half a** done and there will still be collectors complaining about as well.

Yeah, M&M is a higher tier desire for most, I'd expect.

TV Kakizaki is also one of my main wants.  Since Vermillion Squadron was completed with HMR then maybe just maybe Bandai will someday get to it.  I have a feeling it will be a TWE but I'd be ok with that.

Yeah even TWE at this point I'd be fine, I just want to finish the squad in DX form. I've had four sets of missiles since the first wave went on order, and yet I only have three valks for them, bummer.

How was the availability of the two "Fantasy" GBP's that Yamato released? Where the retail or specials?

Sadly I couldn't find the post on them in the forum... These and the corresponding Valk's aren't based on anything in the Tv show while this at least still mimics

the regular GBP-1S but with different colours

I have the urban camo on the far right (sitting on a stealth 1J) and I don't remember it being super difficult to get. I need to brighten up the white on the shoulder missiles (this is an older pict- the rest of my more recents are a bit further away).

No photo description available.

Here's a more recent pic I pulled up, but it is a bit further away:

We're getting a non-canon GBP VF-1S before a DYRL Roy Strike Valk, The Max/Hikaru DYRL 1A's or a TV Kakizaki 1A 🤡

Yeah, Bandai looks like they have basically completely abandoned any product they can't sell overseas.

When I say that in other collecting communities, I get brushback that Bandai markets and sells to Japan, and we in the west are not considered. Yeah, right.

Maybe if you're talking purely about developing new products?  But if they have the choice of using their production space for something they (think they) can sell in a (theoretically) untapped market?  Yeah, they're going to cater to the place that might theoretically actually bring in new customers.

Otherwise, there's no explanation for why their releases for the past couple of years now have mostly played out like a greatest hits collection that everyone in Japan probably has multiples of by this point.

We're obviously never going to see any data, but I would be really curious to see the sales numbers of all these re-pops based on region.

of course, many of us also have multiples of those things now too!

They've released the Hikaru VF-1J 4x if you count the chrome chogokin ver and the only reason they sell out is because 3/4 of us are so worried they're gonna cancel the line before we get the valks we actually want, if they have a deadbeat release 🤣

See, this is the biggest nail in the coffin of Bandai's marketing strategy.

The people who actually care about the things they're bothering to re-release?  They already went through the effort to import the originals.  You're not doing anyone any favors, Bandai, the people who want them already have them.

All they're doing is deflating the market value of the original releases at this point, because the market is flooded with the few releases they're willing to keep churning out in favor of completing any of the lines people actually want to buy.

So after this, will an official DYRL Skull squadron member be released?

It has been years since Bandai teased these.

It's getting strange how much momentum the line has lost... Renewal Frontier toys bumped this line.

As mentioned above, If Bandai wanted to grab attention of fans and collectors it would release a 1/48 TV version of Kakizaki's VF-1A or 1/48 cannon fodder VF-1A.  One can only hope.

Nice try @Morgen Black. Bandai doesn’t care if nothing else done to the Macross lineup as they half a**  leave everything else up in the air with long teasers and nothing else.

Us collectors that have been here for a very long time knows this well: “Any hope for a certain complete Macross lineup ain’t going to happen”

Just to add onto the list @Graham, there’s others that want a DX 1s DYRL Max  (that was short lived) as well.

Like I mentioned as always, Bandai always half a** completes a lineup for the Macross lineup, it’s a rare treat for us if a complete series of a line is fully done (like Frontier for the renewal lineup)

It’s full of empty hope and Bandai is going to be Bandai @davidwhangchoi and you know that.

Bandai is like Hot Toys and Mezco: Full of teases and NOTHING gets done.  They pull the rug under everyone’s feet and just sweep it under the rug: “Don’t know anything about what you’re talking about or have seen it”.

My DX 1/48 VF-1 Wishlist.

  • DYRL VF-1A Hikaru Super.
  • DYRL VF-1A Max Super.
  • DYRL VE-1.
  • TV VF-1A Cannon Fodder.

Yeah, this is basically all I want at this point, though I'd be perfectly happy if they did a dual TV/DYRL release for the CF.

I really can't be forced to care what ship name is printed on the tails (and I still think it looks lousy on the side of the thighs anyhow), which is why one of my Roys is converted to a DYRL now (swapped the control panel from a spare Kakizaki, and repainted a spare DYRL Hikaru from a VT-1 in yellow).

If Bandai really wanted to cover the bases, they could just include multiple swappable tails, but I'm not going to get hung up on the individual marking differences.

I think the only other ones I might get suckered into are if they make M&Ms, but that's only from my OCD, as I've collected every other M&M pair produced since I started collecting. :p

Bandai DX Chogokin 1/48 VF-1A Valkyrie (Alaska Base) (TV)
Bandai DX Chogokin 1/48 VF-1A Valkyrie (Cavaliers) (TV)
Bandai DX Chogokin 1/48 VF-1A Valkyrie (Blazer Squadron) (TV)

Accessories

It's sad that Bandai has shifted the DX VF-1 line to the back burner, but with this reveal it's still a sign that the line is not dead yet, and we can still hope that my previous list can still be finished someday.... But seeing how brisk the Hi-Metal-R Votom line is done by Bandai this line is not really a priority anymore! Sad since a lot of effort was put in at the beginning! But at least we can strike another from the list. 🤗, almost

All I want is a TV Kakizaki (or canon fodder since they are close enough for my needs) and Max and Miria VF-1J with matching supers.

A TV Kakizaki would be my #1 to round out the vermilion squadron. It seems unlikely but I'm holding out hope! An M&M release seems like a no-brainer and I'm confident we'll see these eventually. It might be a few years though!
