  1. Today
  2. Found this recently online. I believe they are still for sale as of Nov 25. the Fairy logo looks great etched in stainless steel.
  3. To be fair, you never needed to use the alternate arm shield for the Yamato. Bandai just decided that one shape was good enough for both. Will cross my fingers that mine gets delivered properly tomorrow, and I'm going to just show up early to make sure they don't try another premature drop off. If this thing shows up before 3pm tomorrow, I'm going to be writing a very colorful nastygram to DHL about their garbage service.
  4. I was just running on basic assumptions since I’ll never watch the show, but if he went for one of those high end apartments, I doubt he’d be able to afford it without the only fans side money. Although as a stretch of reality, he may have somehow scored one of those pandemic era rent controlled rarities when the previous tenant kicked the bucket, but beyond that, he’d most likely just be stuck in a studio size box
  5. I just received mine and transformed it to battroid. In summary, I like it. The integrated neck cover is kinda fiddly though. I also wish the bicep covers would lock in place in the down position. But otherwise IMO, I think this is currently the best VF-19 Fire Valkyrie at 1/60. It has some pros and cons VS the Yamato one I had from before, and they're pretty much comparable. But I like that I don't need to use a separate shield, neck cover, thigh fill in blocks when transforming.
  6. Forums all the way. Never used Discord or Redit or Twitter. Been using Facebook for many years, mainly to keep in touch with family and old school friends, but these days the there's just much spam, ads, AI stuff and posts from people or groups I've never interactactted with and have no interest i ainteracting with. Started using IG fairly recently, maninly just to post pics of my dog.
  7. Discord hasn't really been devastating to actual forums to me, that damage was done with social media and Reddit(which is just the last and most successful "mega-forum", and I've always hated mega-forums). What Discord HAS done is completely eviscerate IRC. Also made a lot of stuff far less accessible as people started using it as free file-hosting instead of setting up an actual website for their projects. But it has been a gradual grind, as communities fell to mega-forums that covered a lot of topics and were too big to have actual communities, then facespace and xitter came along and made the mega-forums look focused and cozy. I do miss the old days, with actual communities that were accessible and discoverable. ... Also, BRING BACK WEBRINGS.
  8. Well alright. Bring it on!
  9. Teaser for Minus One's sequel (prequel?) :
  10. Variable Fighter Master File: VF-0 Phoenix kinda-sorta answers that question in the section SV-51 Last Stand: the SV-51's Final Air Battle. (Pg108) I summarized it a bit here, but the even-shorter version is that when the Anti-Unification Alliance remnants tried one of the several "Hail Mary" attempts to revive their lost cause after the Alliance itself collapsed in 2008 they got absolutely clowned on by a bunch of VF-0+'s in one of the largest VF air battles before the First Space War. Operation Scoria, an attempt to launch a surprise attack from a base in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy and capture the UN Forces Alaska Base, was foiled literally before it ever got off the ground when a mixed force of B-52s and VF-0+'s attacked their base. The story, recounted by the leader of the SV-51 unit, reads as a mounting series of "Oh cr*p" moments as what he expected would be mopping up a bunch of out-of-fuel VF-0s turned into his own forces getting stomped:
  11. Just about, yeah. I was ready to order one from Zica, but the $150 shipping cost was unacceptable. 😓

  13. Right here.✋ So much. What a stupid idea, making The Machine of Inexorable Horror into a kid-friendly action buddy. There is one Terminator movie. Everything else is just swamp gas or a mirage or something.
  14. Almost there. I am absolutely plagued with dust and crap appearing on this builds painted surface. It’s even more evident since it’s going to be so glossy. Total bummer but I’m not going to repaint this. I just want to move it along and make sure to clean the spray booth big time. I have been totally neglecting it. 🥺
  15. $20 an hour sounds like a lot, but we're talking about downtown Los Angeles where cost of living is sky high.
  16. I recognise that, and it's great for those residing in the US. I'm in Singapore, and Anderson offers free shipping which pretty much works out to be the same compared to Zica with shipping. Anyway, it is a pretty hefty price tag nonetheless.
  17. Yesterday
  18. I continue to be amazed at the tech and mecha of Macross Zero. Wonder what Roy and Shin could have done if their VF-0’s were sporting some FF-1999’s that they used in the space proving VF-0 for space trials. Twich
  19. The predator species is far more technologically advanced than humanity and clearly consider us nothing more than dangerous game. The ones who have to prove themselves would be the humans - and learn the predator language. The predators probably have computers translate everything for them just like we are very close to having now.
  20. Yes actually. I try not to think about it, but even the second one had some super goofy moments. The first movie was simple and great an no other Superman movie can match it, but the memory of just flinging his s to wrap people up or flying in the opposite direction to turn back time or that weird thing he did with the damn sorta make it tough for me to watch the original film and enjoy it the same way before stupid really started taking over.
  21. The chief in the second movie actually understood the phrase he was using. It didn’t mean he totally understands English, but he seems to understand the phrase and how it’s used when he hands over the pistol. I kinda doubt he learned that in distress. It shows they probably picked up a bit of the language and may understand more than what’s even shown in the movies. So it seems that they may actually care a little about what humans are saying beyond the words used when humans are in trouble or just as a lure
  22. Definitely looks better than the stupid pumpkin faces
  23. I probably won’t ever watch the show and I don’t know the specifics on the apartment, but I do know a barista in L.A. might actually pull in a good chunk of change. Minimum wage there is $20 and there’s a possibility she may make more than that hourly. Downtown L.A. it’s probably getting her close to handling 10 customers an hour while it’s slow and people at coffee shops are usually more generous than for pizza delivery, so that might be at least another $20 bucks an hour and possibly quite a bit more when it’s busy and although you’re supposed to report tips on the taxes, nobody really does or at least nowhere near the proper amount. She might be pulling in $40 to $60 an hour on average and it’s possible that she’s pulling in $80 an hour depending on how busy the place really is and how many other workers she’s splitting customers with. It definitely would be more realistic if she’s sharing the rent though, but if she’s not spending her money on stupidity, she may be able to put a big chunk of change to the rent if she’s a full timer.
  24. I didn't, but I built a Batocera system for my friend maybe a year and a half ago. I loved it, been meaning to build one for myself but I wanted enough power to play PS2.
  25. Chun-Li vs. Mai – When FOUR worlds collide! 😄
  26. Got a bit bored after taking down the Halloween decorations and decided to do some number-crunching on one of the data gaps on the VF-0. Specifically, the Mauler RoV-15 anti-aircraft/anti-missile laser cannon(s). Macross official setting materials don't really have anything to say about how powerful the cannons are, only that they were a replacement for a previously-intended machine gun. The VF-0 Master File book benchmarks the performance of the Rov-15 against Mauser's BK-27 revolver cannon. The BK-27's a German 27mm revolver cannon made for surface-to-air and air-to-air use. It's good for 1,000-1,700 rounds per minute and the 27mm mine rounds it uses have a muzzle energy of a hair over 157kJ. Since the performance of the RoV-15's said to be almost exactly the same, we can use that as a benchmark. (157kJ*1000rpm)/60sec = 2,621kJ/sec or approximately 2.6MW. The energy-on-target is probably a fair bit lower, but when all's said and done it suggests the VF-0's capacitor-driven RoV-15 is around 1/2 the output of the VF-1's production-intent RoV-20. Pretty darn impressive considering the generator supporting it is a pair of overtuned turbofan jet engines. Even if it needs 30s to recharge for every 3s spent firing, a 2,000kW+ class output is insane for the time period and power source.
  27. Anybody catch the Batocera 42 anouncement? Also the trailer music... 🙂
