electric indigo Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 Finally some clear pics Also, MiG brought some models: Nobody noticed the spaceship:
Knight26 Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 Haven't seen tug concepts like that in a long while. Nice to know that someone is looking forward like that. That is a pretty low price for Su-75, sounds like it is intended for the same market as the USAF F-35/F-16 replacement concept. MiG is just barely holding on with those concepts.
enphily Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 Su-75 Bullshit Sorry i don't trust my gov's (sukhoi and all other war companies = government) propaganda at all

Typical Russian selling tactic. Sell cheap then get them on the back end with overpriced spares and technical support for the planes built in flaws.
kajnrig Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 I'm more upset at how quickly they're blazing through those numbers. Helloooo! We were just at 57, you really had to pass on sixteen other prototypes?

US Contractors are doing the same with "Service and Support Contracts." Edited July 20, 2021 by Knight26
kalvasflam Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 (edited) So... Sukhoi is a Russian company, right? Checkmate is a Russian aircraft... this unveiling is in Russia... So, why the heck is all of the market material in English. I mean is one of the target customer the USAF? Edited July 21, 2021 by kalvasflam

Probably because they want to use it as an export, and English is still a primary international language.

The Typhoon is returning to the flight sim space.
Dobber Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 (edited) Oh man… a Tomcat LEGEND has been lost. 😟 RIP Capt. Dale “Snort” Snodgrass. https://theaviationist.com/2021/07/25/dale-snort-snodgrass/ Chris Edited July 25, 2021 by Dobber
Chronocidal Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 Just heard about this myself. Good retrospective on his career from someone who worked with him here. A true legend of naval aviation.
David Hingtgen Posted July 26, 2021 Author Posted July 26, 2021 Pretty sure I saw him fly an F-86 at an air show. Would have loved to see him fly a Tomcat demo. This is a good video showing off some serious dis-similar formation skills:

electric indigo Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 The X-47B just called and asked why this is called Stingray?
AN/ALQ128 Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 Cockpit of Korea's newest indigenous fighter.
Knight26 Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 I'm surprised they could get off the ground with those giant brass ones in the cockpit.

F-ZeroOne Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 (edited) Theres some speculation that the... um... "shape" is "upside down" on the trailer. Edit: oops, I see the linked-to article does mention that possibility. I posted before reading the article. Edited September 24, 2021 by F-ZeroOne

Edit: oops, I see the linked-to article does mention that possibility. I posted before reading the article. That seems so odd... I can't imagine why anyone would think that, looking at the shape and imagining where systems would go and be oriented... the metal "Pyramid" on the underside-amidships as she sits on the trailer is the mounting-interface for the RCS-test-stand, or at least it seems so to me. Are the folks making that speculation under the impression that planes are always mounted inverted on the mast? They're not: They get mounted in multiple orientations to be examined from almost every angle over the course of a test program. What good would a fuselage shape be if it generates negative lift? because if it is upside-down, that's what's going to happen. The drooped "leading-edge" or "LERX" section further solidifies that it's upright in my mind. Can't wait till the declassify it and prove me a fool! Edited September 24, 2021 by slide
F-ZeroOne Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 (edited) slide, I think the shape is ambiguous enough that its orientation could be interpreted a number of ways. Edited September 25, 2021 by F-ZeroOne
