For obvious reasons, I've personally noted a lot of coloring mistakes in the original Macross Chronicle. Overall, the series has been pretty damned good considering the large number of mecha they had to color. And to be honest, the series did a far better job getting the colors right than I did with the initial version of my website. Granted, they had all the art books, production materials and HD reference I never did For what it's worth, I'll always try very hard to get the coloring right on the Macross mecha for my website. I've got a ton of new coloring in the next release with a few corrections as well. But if anyone notices coloring errors in the new Macross Chronicle, or on my own website, please be sure to post about it or let me know. I rely on the Macross Chronicle heavily for color reference and would like to make sure I get it right more often than not.

WOW! It has been a long time since I even thought of that horrible Wing Commander movie. You took me down memory lane there Look on the bright side, even if the Robotech movie is as bad as Wing Commander, at lest the SFX will be better

Not strange, just status quo. This is always how the PR has operated in Hollywood. No one offically attached to a production ever confirms, speculates or spoils anything until it's already been polished and practiced for a major press release...unless you're Timothy Olyphant appearing on Conan J.J. Abrams is a fine choice and always has been the obvious pick. They could have done worse...MUCH worse. At least it's a step in the right direction. How the rest turns out, we can only wait and see.

Just like ANY film developed by the major Hollywood studios, fans should be worried. As others have said, this film has an equal chance to never materialize as it does to make it to market. However the larger concern is that the number of truly awful adapted films always vastly outnumbers the few quality adaptations. It's one of our universal constants. Whether you're a fan that hates Robotech or you're a fan that loves Robotech, the odds this will be a good film are very much against such an outcome, as they are for ANY film. I've said this before about film production and I'll always say it; utimately the casting will be VERY telling about the seriousness and committment the Studio and Producers are giving to this property. After all, if you want to make crap, you hire Shia Lebeouf and Megan Fox. If you're at least TRYING, you hire actors with credibility, like Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Hunnam and Idris Elba

Olympus Has Fallen vs. White House Down
Mr March replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
These both look terrible. Can't believe they even justify a thread, but then again this is a discussion about movies on MW I'm not a huge Channing Tatum fan, but he was brilliant in 21 Jump Street.- 22 replies

The reason I wanted the Wave version of the ODK SR-4 Junchoon that they once planned was because it was a smaller scale, but very high quality and extrmely detailed. It would have been the perfect figure for a fan like me. Too pricey for sure, but in this case I'd have been willing to make the exception. I agree that many Five Star Stories mecha would be welcome as high quality figures, but honestly I do think the ODK SR-4 Junchoon was the perfect choice to build into such a great figure with broader appeal. Like most of the Junchoon designs that Nagano built, the ODK SR-4 is a good display of the ornamental, high-art style that FSS is known for including many more conventional stylizied features that have more "main stream mecha" appeal for fans. Ugh, just thinking about it more is making me even more depressed that Wave cancelled this figure

I'd want Wave to make that damned ODK SR-4 Last Junchoon figure (from Five Star Stories) they were actually going to release until it simply...didn't happen. Most severe mecha figure tease I've ever suffered

I did a search on HMV Japan and I still can't see any listings for the new Chronicle. This is odd considering I purchased a large number of issues for the old Macross Chronicle from their website. HMV Japan also had a points system for purchasing that I used to obtain roughly 4 issues of the Chronicle for free. If they aren't offering the new Chronicle for sale, that would be a real shame. Amazon.co.jp is listing the new Chronicle for sale: http://www.amazon.co...58276567&sr=8-1 And of course, others have noted HobbyLink Japan is offering the series for purchase. So I guess availability is good for now. I'll see how it goes.

Reading my favorite gaming site Giant Bomb today and they featured a YouTube link to the Half-Life Alpha Tech Demo from way back in 1997. At time index 2:12 of the video, what shows up, if not the famous Reguld Battle Pod from SDF Macross. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LA1EPWpk0iI&feature=player_embedded Kinda cool

Overall the color is too garish and that tattoo much too large for anything I'd ever consider getting, but I will say the tattoo design itself is spectacular and more importantly the body placement of it suits the design.

Very creative. I can see some Macross and Nausicaa in there. Thanks for sharing!

io9 is the tabloid "Enquirer" of geek-friendly "journalism" online. They always have been, they always will be. The level of ignorance of the people writing submissions for that website on virtually any geek/genre topic - from trashing Frank Herbert, uninformed film news, failing to know Macross/Robotech - is nothing short of consistently facepalm worthy. I know of no other geek/genre website on the internet that gets it wrong more than io9. The io9 website reads like the writing of a gaggle of beach bums and valley girls coasting on the current pop culture wave of geek chic while never having read a sci-fi novel, played a video game or watched a Christopher Nolan film in their entire lives

Great work, but my browser isn't displaying these at 1920 x 1200. Is this a limitation of my browser (Firefox) or is this something the Macross World Forum software does?- 26 replies

So.... world is still here! Reflection on Best of 2012.
Mr March replied to Ghost Train's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
On a personal note it was a great year. However, speaking about genre entertainment it was phenomenal. About film, as I've mentioned several times before in other threads, the 2012 year was about one of the best years for film I've ever had the pleasure of living through. Almost every time I went to the theatre I saw a film I instantly knew I was going to be purchasing on Blu-Ray. So many movies worth watching again and more importantly, so many true surprises. I wish every year in film could be like 2012. I'd die happy Some of my fav films of the year: The Raid, Looper, Dredd, Chronicle, Seven Psychopaths, The Avengers, Skyfall About video games, again a year filled with amazing work. I defninitely felt my tastes leaning toward many retro-gaming titles this year, but modern gaming had no shortage of representation in this year's best of work. one of the things I appreciated most about gaming in 2012 was the wide variety and difference in gaming experience between the titles I enjoyed. They would range all over, from shooters, to strategy, to platforming, to some games that almost defied categorization of any kind. Truly been spoiled yet again this year Some of my fav games of the year: X-COM: Enemy Unknown, Battlefield 3, Journey, Mark of the Ninja, Fez About television, all the usual suspects are there. I'll not go too far into each since I've already praised them all numerous times in other threads. Needless to say, so much good stuff it's scary. Some of my fav shows of the year: Justified, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, About books, I don't read a lot of genre stuff. Mostly books that people here would find "boring" like The Price of Inequality by Joseph Stiglitz and that sort of thing. I did read World War Z by Max Brooks and it was phenomenal. All around, a great year and one of the best for entertainment in a long time. -
Finished the book! Simply amazing. One of the best books I've read in a while. So well-researched and insightful. Also very disturbing. i also enjoyed the criticism of our systems and how often institutions end up failing those they are setup to help. Biting social commentary. I hope the film is good on it's own terms, but that trailer is about as far from the book as adaptations get. In name only

Hey, it's my Megaroad coloring Well done! You've done a really great job. I especially like how you got the starfield in the background to be transparent through the "glass" sections of the line art. Brilliant work! BTW, If you want a larger version of my Megaroad colored art for a big, high-res version, just let me know and I'll send you the file. Again, great work!- 26 replies
