  1. I think so too.....I'd love to see MORE destroids aiding the Skull Squadron in the rest of the Macross Zero OVA's. The only time we see Destroids in DYRL they were getting pasted by various Zentradi mechs. The destroids kicked butt on a few occassions, but mostly they get blown to pieces. But no more than the Valkyries do in many an episode. Still, the MkII Monster seems to get all the glory. It's shown blowing the heck out of everything throughout the entire series. In fact, I think it gets shot once, but is repaired for the next episode. I just think that the destroids get forgotten all the time. Especially in any debate about which mecha is better, they seem to be quickly dismissed. But they are a very essential part of the UN Spacy's combined arms. They are the reason the SDF Macross had the most potent defense of any capital ship in Space War One.
  2. That's a horrible excuse. this all reminds me of the road Final Fantasy went down. it started out as a story driven franchise that happend to have nice visuals. Now-a-days everything becomes secondary to the eye candy. How the heck does that analogy apply to Macross Zero? So far the Mac 0 story is totally character driven, despite all the pretty CGI. bsu legato's point is very valid. A VF-1 in full CGI would look way more advanced than the AnimeFriend shots everyone seems to use as their basis of comparison between the two shows. Not accepting the advance of technique and technology between two show 20 years apart is no reason to invent this silly theory the VF-0 is more advanced than the VF-1. They said in the show itself that the VF-0 doesn't even use the OverTechnology engines of the VF-1. The official stats so far indicate the VF-0 is inferior to the VF-1, showing the VF-0 is both heavier and slower than the VF-1. I personally don't understand how so many people have a problem with the VF-0 compared to the VF-1. The VF-0 fighter mode looks a little more aerodynamic than the VF-1, but the VF-0 battroid mode looks like a clunker in comparison the the VF-1. If the mecha in Macross Zero looked like the YF-19 or YF-21, there would certainly be a reason to cry and shout. As it stands, the VF-1 and the VF-0 are the two most similar looking, different-model Valkryies that Kawamori has ever created.
  3. Very cool! I like that design. The destroids are so underrated in Macross.
  4. Huh. I used to lurk there for a short while. Man did I love that game. Can't wait for the sequel to come out. And the inevitable Macross mod ... This is a little off topic, but last week I purchased an X-Box with the 3D shooter Halo. If you really enjoyed the atmosphere and music in Homeworld (like I did), you might find Halo a lot of fun. It has a very eerie atmosphere and a great score with many wandering/lingering style pieces of music. Very cool stuff.
  5. Bah, who needs stuffy #1 when you can be # 42!!!!!! Damnit! I want to be 42. That's a great number. Life, the universe, and everything
  6. It may survive elsewhere. Mecha Domain managed to survive it's own death by going to the Mecha & Animation Headquarters. I know there are a few Gundam communities that are rather large still in operation, though not all of them are worth the effort of joining.
  7. I could really care less about post counts. I was once part of the Relic Boards (forum for the PC game Homeworld) and we had to restart our memberships about half a dozen times due to forum crashes. After that, nothing really bothers you. Besides, it's the quality of your posts and whether or not your having fun at an online community that matters.

Well, that upgrade pack sounds wonderful! I sure hope they go for it. If I can get DYRL? style hands, all the better. Still, anything is an improvement over the current hands, which are the only major flaw currently on the 1/48 design. Thanks very much Graham.
  9. Looks great. I loved the first two films. Chances are I'll love this baby as well.
  10. While it may seem stupid to get both the theatrical version and the extended set like I did with the first film, I can guarantee that in 10 years, I'll be wishing I had that that damn theatrical release. It always turns out that way, I want the stuff that I can't get anymore.

I want those new hands on the VF-1J to be included in some sort of accessory pack, GPB-1, or Super Parts set. I don't want to have to buy a whole new 1/48 VF-1 Valkyrie just to get those great looking hands.
  12. Damn, I haven't seen that display case picture before. Very nice! I got one set pre-ordered at HLJ. If I really like the set, I may purchase another set. However, I'm thinking I want those new hands on the VF-1J. I might wait to see if they release new FAST Pack sets with the additional hands or if I'll have to purchase the VF-1J to get them.
  13. Ha! And lose such a great screen name as "Mr March"? Never! Thanks for all the effort you guys! The boards look better than ever! Can't wait for more Macross mayhem
