Yay, it seems that the images really were a lie and the clear parts are still green. 😁 Unless they just matte coated a renewal for this show... They didn't spin this unit around to show the new screws so I'm not sure if this confirms anything...

And I think the dude broke the canard on his old v1 unit. He looks like he was trying very hard to hide it lol.

I like the matte finish. Other than that I’m not totally sold on this since I didn’t much care for Brera as a character and I don’t think the extra screws are really going to change much.

I thought it was a little odd they compared the Revival to the original 27, not the Renewal. I guess they wanted to show all the differences they could. I wonder if the Renewal 27 sold so poorly…

Still happy with my Grace 27, but I did put in a PO for this with Amazon for the hell of it. I’ll compare it to my figure of Melda Dietz and see if their colors compare well. If not, Amazon’s return policy makes it simple.

I have to say that matte look is pretty appealing to me. I was set on not buying a revival since I already have the original and renewal glossy versions. But after watching that vid I’m not so sure I won’t pick one of these up.

I may have missed the discussion but is a Grace revival in the works?

It's unfortunate that they didn't rework the crotch so that it won't need the additional bracer to lock it forward in battroid.

Ugggggh that spacer.

Pointless for me also to get the Revival 27y if there is ZERO structural changes for now, still hanging on to the Renewal version.

Matte Fighter mode might be nice looking but as a transforming toy the fact it still has retained the flawed previous mechanics means it's overpriced.

It's still the same VF-27 Ver 1.25 that came out in 2017 and even then that renewal was just a tweaked version of the original 2010 vf-27. Just now it has a matte coat.

At least release the damn toy in different colors like the Macross 30 version and maybe I'd bite :p

Hip joints loose? That doesn't solve the problem here and ZERO remedies to fix the problem.  How very typical and seems like one one even bother to think outside that box and to fix the issue.

WTF bandai???

From the looks of the clip, it's not even that it's loose. The hip clip can't even reach its locking position so it just springs back... It basically doesn't even transform. Now I'm worried about mine, but I haven't got in stock notice yet. Classic YYK delays I guess, so I get to wait around and see if there's anything to do about it.

I ordered mine from Amazon, I may not get it until October, but from these initial reports it’s going to be cancelled. I hope these are just the few bad ones that escaped QC.

Yes, it's clear in the original Japanese text that he is talking about the old version being left in battroid pose the entire time and that's probably why the joints have weakened.

Yeah, the first one's translation was weird so I couldn't make heads or tails of it and just ignored that statement. The rest of his tweets about it were neutral showcases so he didn't seem to say anything negative, other than that the molds are kinda old, iirc.

But the second one alone can't be excused lol... Hope more impressions or reviews come out soon to clear things up.

That's one thing that irks me in regards to Heppoko Samurai's post, no further explanations on why so and so doesn't work and there's no proper explanations on how to fix it.

I get this is first impressions, but its like he's condoning that this version of the revival 27y is not up to snuff.

From what I can tell from that video, the joints and that pelvic attachment looks tight. Hopefully that QC problem Cod roe got with his unit isn’t common.

Disclamer: That these selected pics are not mine as I didn't pre-order one

Pics of the Revival 27y has been posted in another Macross thread. Credits to the respected owner who is very possible on this Macross site as well.

After getting my Revival version, I think I may have the unpopular opinion that the glossy Renewal version is actually just as aesthetically pleasing as the matte Revival version. I know almost everyone here hates the glossy look, but for some reason it kinda fits the sleekness of the VF-27 and makes it look more high tech and speedier.

I got my VF-27γSP Revival and am little disappointed that the hips were not as tight compared to the recent VF-25F Tornado or Armored Ozma Revival release. The legs aren't floppy but can definitely tell they're loose.

I think the Revival 27y hip joints are not as tight as Bandai didn't want to over tighten them during the shipping process and not shatter apart upon transformation (if it does happen?) but you don't want it like the WWM Blue 25 which was a total flop upon taking it out from the box (or like Onnasake's DX YF-19 Full Set explode at the hip joints when he tried to the transformation to battriod mode not knowing that those three screws where on very tight).

I have just gotten mine the other day, not happy with it. The matte finish looks and feels cheap, that’s a first. The double up screws on the shoulder is okay but the hip out of the box is loose & needs to be tightened. The revival attempt didn’t translate as well as the previous 25’s revivals, it feels particularly like an old toy, corners not sharp enough, an old design brought back. - and that’s exactly it I am afraid.

Does the knee joint not rotate 360 freely on the vf-27? When I rotate it for Gerwalk stance, the joints fight back and it feels like going to break off if I keep at it..Does the vf-27 not have waist rotation? hate to be naysaying but it feels like a waste of money. Damn you Bandai.😅

So the thing about the VF-27 is that it never got a true renewal version like the 25 where it was redesigned from the ground up. The "renewal" 27 was just a slightly tweaked V1 DX from the original terrible Frontier toys, and the revival is just a slightly tweaked version of that. Which means the revival is essentially a 15 year old toy design, older than the 25 renewals.

And the stripes on the hip plates are still wrong.
