Yes, but even using the promotional artwork you chose, there are major discrepancies in the shape:

The sculpt still needs major work, I'd say. 🤨

There are more funky ones out there from the animation, but the animation back then was really wonky.
If this was from a better company, I would probably judge this a bit a little harsher, but coming from these guys it’s a masterpiece especially in comparison to the unarmored pictures. The only other thing to compare this to is the ancient Arii kit and that was kinda just ok, but good for the time

It looks like the mask is wide because it's accommodating Dana's physical face. If they made the mask accurate to the line art, Dana would end up with a really narrow face. IMO, that would've been the worse option, since one of Dana's signature appearences is her circular face. The ideal option would've been to include additional heads: one fully masked, one partially masked, and no mask at all. But I guess KC really wanted a mask gimmick, plus it's cheaper too.

Speaking of gimmicks, the cloth gimmick just looks bad. It's a shame because KC really nailed Dana's face and armor.

They didn't specify if it was a one off issue or not. Figured I could touch up the leg but then I saw the cockpit area. Here's the pics:

Got my replacement ...err kit from KC. Had to start over with their new customer service person.

Didn't get a new figure but this certainly works. Doesn't look like it will be too hard to reassemble

They must still be playing catch up on this release...

I also received my "DIY" kit from them a while ago after waiting for almost a year for them to send me the replacement parts....it was easy to replace....

At this point I have extensive hands-on experience with KC replacement parts swapping....although I'm glad they eventually send me the parts to repair their defective items...I'd prefer they stepped up on their QC

These have actually been the best Macross releases....if anyone is just curious about the KC VF-1 but balked at the prices....this is a good chance at picking up some for cheap...

Wow shipping is crazy.  $91 for express to California and $58 for 4 month economy!  Price of the items is definitely a great deal but I gotta think about this.  I have the Yamato/Arcadia and Hi-Metal versions so not sure this is a must buy even tho I have most of the KC stuff too.

Yeah, shipping is pricey, I went slow and it worked out to about $85 each which is still a great price.

Yeah when I reason out the cost for what you get I find it hard to resist.  I'm gonna wait til my credit card's next billing cycle to buy.  Haha

I guess I'm a little confused with what they are showing with this figure. The un-armored version has white cloth under garments and the armored has black. So the figure comes with both? Is their precedent for a figure this size being able to remove a cloth costume?

Basically yes to everything. Not sure what color the base figure under is

For anyone that purchased either the Kakizaki or Max KC VF-1A....did either one come with the correct paint application to the rear stabilizers?  Meaning....colored part at the front...while the back part being white....like the VF-1J's rear stabilizers...red, then white?

Only reason I ask is because I am wondering if a corrected batch was made after the initial run....

KC has never corrected that. Even their SD Valkyries had that mistake

Was hoping that maybe they had made a "mistake" on either one that had actually resulted in the correct paint applications...

Note my VF-1A Standard Type's rear stabilizers....

large.20220206_103750.jpg.85a83c144e5d35

...take a look at the leg KC sent me to correct the busted leg on my VF-1J Standard....it's a VF-1A leg with the rear stabilizers printed incorrectly for a VF-1A Standard.....unfortunately, the "brown" used for the VF-1A Standard is not the same shade used on Kakizaki's VF-1A....

large.20220725_212501.jpg.92b51646c7c63c

...and ultimately, the stabilizer was incorrectly painted on the VF-1J Standard....or at least on my copy....

It's these little details that KC often screws up...well, besides the numerous QC fails...;)

Negative, it's two different releases, you pick the one you want and you can buy the other head separately.

Ok I see it on their website now. I'm not getting any, but I imagine it would be quite a bummer on wanting both tunas but having to pony up for 2 x Ricks. Even more so if already purchased the standalone Rick.

Edit: Scratch my statement above, didn't scroll down just now to see that each Tunas can be bought separately! :good:
