Ignacio Ocamica Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 (edited) Will check my Monster later. Could it be that that plastic piece had an air bubble when casted, or developed a crack when it was assembled? I see an expansion pin, and there is also a crack where it is inserted (in one side). Chronocidal Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 You know.. zooming in on that pin makes me curious. Don't the teeth on those spring pins usually mesh? That one looks like it might have been oversprung, or twisted, and the teeth colliding meant the pin was forced to a larger diameter than intended.

I barely laid a finger on the HWR monster's port arm and it fell right off at the elbow. Does the monster suffer from G(reen) Plastic Syndrome? Sorry to see this. That truly sucks.

ValkAddict Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Ouch - sorry that happened @DWN013. I don't own the Hi-Metal Monster, but it's on my "to get" list.
sh9000 Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 (edited) I had a little bit of time to work some more on the setup today. I’ll see if I can finish it tomorrow. Based on Macross lineart. Edited July 26, 2021 by sh9000

borgified Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 That's because where not worthy for Bandai's attention in the Macross department as they're too focused in other things under their banner @RDX17.

sh9000 Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 This setup took some time to complete because it was like posing 14 different figures in 1 space. It’s close enough to the source material. I’ll take a final pic of it maybe tomorrow when the sun is out.

Roy Focker Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 This just happened. When to move the arm out towards the side. First touch in that direction and it came right off.
Bolt Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Oh geez. Sorry to see that. Low grade metal R..hopefully that was just a random qc issue..

I don't think it's very common, but unfortunately, not unheard of, and just a by-product of X% going to have a flaw in the material. You could try drilling it and pinning it, or maybe even cold weld if you don't plan on handing it much. I know this advice comes too late, but it's generally a good idea to loosen up the shoulders on the HMRs by grabbing them directly at the top of the joint and moving them around a bit first. For whatever reason, the VF-1D seemed to be made especially stiff.

Roy Focker Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Worth a try but these weren't officially sold here, came out how many years ago and Bandai not making them anymore.
borgified Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Highly doubt that you can get a replacement arm joint @Roy Focker as it was released in April 2019 (thanks to @jenius channel for the post). You can take a page from @HardlyNever and try fixing it.
Bolt Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 I would try fixing it. But, it won't ever be the same.still worth a try. Or sell it to me cheap😉
ValkAddict Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Sorry to see that happen @Roy Focker. Was it a new item or did you get it used?
