Yamato 1:60 Max and Miria vf 22 repaints!!!!!!

Loose parts falling off happens sometimes.

My sv-51 had an armor plate on the back of the hand fall off after I was a little rough with it while transforming. I put it back on but it's loose from now on and probably wont ever be the same tightness ever again. I had to use a bit of bluetac (gummy plasticine like material used for holding posters up on walls) to add some stickiness in the hope I don't one day lose this piece (like screw covers) whenever I attempt to transform it again.

My VF-22S Max has finally arrived :D But a little bit disappointed by the size. I thought it would be slightly bigger. I know I'm greedy. It seems to have much better quality than the VF-19 bird of prey I'm having.

On a separate note, I'm trying to customized the VF-19. And I just found out that Yamato used tons of glue to glue many parts. They even glue some of the screw caps/covers! It's giving me hard time to dismantling it and re-colouring it. :(

Thanks Graham!

Glad to hear your issue got resolved bb_f1. I finally got enough time to email HWJapan to inquire about getting a replacement part. If they want me to exchange the whole thing, I'll probably just deal with not having the piece. I'm not too broken up about it since it is more cosmetic than something structural like the VF-1 shoulder issue. I've got both Gamlin and Max, so leaving Milia in fighter wouldn't be a problem. Besides, I could always call it my special "battle damaged" edition :p

I'll talk with Yamato and ask them if they can add a 'kneecap check' to the pre-packing inspection checklist for any future production runs of the 21/22.

Can you ask them about a future revision fixing the rear landing gear so that they can lock into place like the YF-19's?

No wonder one of the screw drops and I can't screw back.. in the end glue it back.

So I have the YF-21 as well as the Gamlin, Max and Millia VF-22. When I got the 21 I transformed it once and back(had to watch a video since the thing is way to complicated). The Gamlin I just put in my case in fighter mode.

I just spend 2 hours trying to get the Millia into Gerwalk mode to put in my case only to find out the legs and ankles won't hold the mode at all. It keeps tipping over one way or another

Then I decided to try Battroid mode. One leg keeps popping off. And if I somehow manage to get it to stay on, the whole thing either tips forward, or does the splits. So that isn't working either.

And right now I'm thinking of how much money I spent on this thing and questioning my sanity for doing so <_<

The biggest fix for this problem is a change in mindset. You have to deem the Yamato "toys" as pre-painted and completed model kits. That way, the perception will change: You are not really suppossed to "play" with it like a 5 year old, but rather admire it displayed, and occasionally transforming it to change the mode in display.

But of course, thats just me. Your mileage will vary.

Actually, I've mentioned before on here that my Yamato's are display pieces and not toys. Fragile is one thing, but I'm talking about design flaws. And with the YF-21/VF-22 there is not one mode that is stable. And it's actually one of the most expensive models. Even in fighter the back wheels fall out from under it if you look at it cross-eyed. There is no way it didn't do that when the design team was looking over the prototype. But they keep sending it out to production anyway.

I've been a Yamato supporter for the most part. But I'm running out of excuses to personally justify them anymore.

If the legs haven fallen off you have to make sure you push them all the way back on until they snap/click into place. Otherwise they will not stay on and fall off with the smallest bit of handling. This is how all my 21/22s have been but I'm sure you might be having another problem.

Also if you want to display a 21/22 in GERWALK it might be a good idea to use a flexistand or something because although I've gotten them to stand by themselves I wouldn't want to leave them displayed without support in case of earthquake/shaking of any sort.

and yeah the landing gear thing sucks and they should have caught that in QC but generally I never display mine with landing gears out since I use stands so I hadn't even noticed until fairly recently.

Interesting. I must be really lucky, I have no problems with stability in my Gamlin at all.

Same here.

While it's not as absolute perfect as my YF-21, my Gamlin is still one of the sturdiest valks in my collection.

Both my YF-21 and VF-22 are very stable in all three modes. Got the YF-21 in Gerwalk mode right now, and has been like that since last year.

...

I better go dust em off. XD

I should examine my Miriya 22 closer. I haven't transformed it yet, but so far one wing does droop. There are fixes for that, like clear nail polish. I'm gonna check the knee. So far, I've been one lucky bastard w/ Yamato (knock on wood). I'll let you know if there's another problem.

Well I must have just gotten a bad VF-22 Millia then. I tried some more to get it to stand in Gerwalk mode and no luck at all. The ratchet joints just won't hold the weight. Either in the ankle or the knee. And the right leg barely stays on. I have used as much force as I dare to get it to stay. A slight twist and the whole thing comes off again. I finally managed to get it to stand in Battroid mode. It's leaning against the back of the case in a very basic pose.

I haven't messed with the Max 22 yet. I'm kind of avoiding it I guess after the trouble the Millia has given me.

The last few days it hasn't been drooping. Even whooshed around my home office just now and the Gamlin wing is staying up. I love the fighter mode so much on this thing, I haven't been changing back to Battroid (which is the only position I can display it in on my shelf right now, unless I do some rearranging). Nowhere to put the VF-11B right now, either....

Hrrm. It seems I'm not the only one who is faced with bad QC on the Milia.

I finally opened the Max and Milia VF-22s that have been sitting in my office for over a month now. Max is pure Valk porn, but Milia was my first experience in being "Yamato'd" after collecting their products for ages now. She's missing her front landing gear completely! I discovered this by accident when I was attempting the initial transformation from fighter to battroid (I've never transformed my YF-21, so this was my first time really attempting conversion with this mold) when I accidentally opened the panel doors to discover an empty space. She also had a very loose arm swing connector, which luckily was "fixed" by a good screwdriver. Well, at least it stays in place now. It's nowhere near as secure as the other arm or Max's two arms.

Here's the extra crappy part: I got these in a big haul from AmiAmi back in January. I contacted them about sending Milia's VF-22's missing front landing gear. Since I waited more than 10 days to open the package (sorry, "real life" got in the way!), they can't help me. Crappy policy if you ask me, but live and learn. Good thing I usually don't display my valks with their landing gear deployed. Honestly, though, the battroid mode is so damned beautiful that I'll rarely transform this thing anyway. But for $200, I shouldn't be missing a freaking piece!

I've heard rumors that Overdrive is no longer offering parts service, correct? That was another route I was considering...

I didn't realize AmiAmi had a policy like that... That really sucks since these things are considered collectors items by some and may not be transformed or even opened immediately upon receipt. I guess I better thoroughly inspect everything I buy from AmiAmi as soon as it arrives.

C'mon guys, orders should always be inspected for completeness and condition when you receive them, it's just common sense... "Real life" can't be an excuse, we all have one. :)

Not when you're working 80+ hour weeks for nearly a month straight. Playing with my toys was the last thing on my mind. I barely saw my house, let alone my collectibles. I can understand if I had waited a few months, but it's been a mere 35 days since the thing shipped. Sometimes it takes more than 10 days to receive something in the first place!

Funny thing is, my YF-21 is solid when posed in either gerwalk or battroid. Only loose part is the damn thigh\hip swivel, the ankles are sturdy enough to hold its weight.

My main problem with the mould [besides any loose parts] is that it's a bitch to put back into fighter without a leg or arm coming off.

The only VF-22 I want is Max's, which ironically is the most similar to Guld's [same jet with minor differences, both a shade of blue...]

Also, don't you have 10 days from the day you RECEIVE the stuff (and not from the day it got shipped) to return it? Quite frankly, I never had to return anything, so I don't really know. The only problem I ever had with a brand new toy was with a MP-05 Megatron missing a part, which I ended up buying a bit later elsewhere because I didn't feel like spending all that money to send back the toy EMS. The cost of the replacement part was way less than the cost of EMS shipping.

Just another thing to note.

The same leg the kneecap is missing from is opened from the calf. It turns out, whomever put this thing together used the stop lock for the foot from the other leg. I was about to take apic but I was just so displeased and disappointed that I just unscrewed the leg ground down on the area around the stop lock and put it back together. It works great, but this is just ridiculous.

Yamato, this is completely unacceptable.

QA and Yamato are definitely not synonymous. <_<

My Gamlin and Max are fine. No missing parts, no problems with stability. The only minor issue is after a few days in fighter mode, the left wing starts to droop slightly. Simple to push it back up though. The Max 22 is one of my all time favorite Valks.

Still haven't unboxed my Milia yet.
