Slave IV Posted May 29 Posted May 29 I was about to ask if that stand was included in an official release since I've never seen it before.
Shawn Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Wow-that armor is really cool! Thanks for sharing. Guess for the leg armor there just isn't another method for securing other than the strap

Guess for the leg armor there just isn't another method for securing other than the strap There’s a more elegant solution. I prototyped it back in 2001 but I was a super-poor grad student and didn’t have on-demand access to a CNC at the time. I’ve nearly got my workshop up and running. Finally. I’ll upload some pix of the full armor set at some point: my honey-do list dominates most of my free time. 🤪

Powered Convoy Posted June 18 Posted June 18 I won this 1/55 VF-1S Hikaru. Anyone know if it's a matter of being in the wrong box or is it some other release or knockoff that came in a Max VF-1J box?

I figured it was the wrong box but wasn't sure if there was a knock off with a Hikaru S in a Max J box.

No, I don't think it's a nock-off! I think sadly someone was lazy and put a Bandai VF-1S in a real Takatoku VF-1J box! Sad since the box is somewhat of a good shape! Maybe someday you can find the Maximilian Jenius VF-1J and put it back in this box!

Also need I find the super parts for the S now. 😅

treatment Posted July 20 Posted July 20 (edited) edit: beware of yt's bizarro auto AI english-dubbing! Edited July 20 by treatment yt AI dubbing sux0r!
Gabe Q Posted July 20 Posted July 20 At 1:01, the AI voice says it was released by "Bidet" in the 2000s! <Insert bidet joke here> 😳

nightmareB4macross Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Battroid comparison We can only dream. Maybe one day a toy manufacturer will run with this idea and give us a 1/55 Version 2. For now this is enough for me.
Hiriyu Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Awesome work. That must be one of the most comprehensively modified 1/55s in existence! I'm particularly impressed by the completely novel hip joint nesting in what looks like a slide-open nose blister, and the integrated intake covers and toe extension, but that's hardly even scratching the surface. Good show man.

nightmareB4macross Posted July 24 Posted July 24 (edited) Looks like the 1/55 is making another comeback. Edited July 24 by nightmareB4macross
Raikkonen Posted July 24 Posted July 24 I'm curious to how many of these they have to make to cover the production costs verses such a selective market.
Gabe Q Posted July 24 Posted July 24 I wish they'd do a new variant. I have all of the Bandai re-releases from a couple decades back. Maybe a TV Max & Kakizaki combo set. Also, they could re-release the armored 1J. The retro packaging has been done a bunch of times now. They should try some chunky scale and style Zentradi stuff. Imagine a solid, heavy duty, ratchet joint Glaug or Q-Rau. Those would be a huge success.

This would require a whole new mold, and the cost of that requires a lot of units to be sold just to make the money on that back.
Froy Posted July 24 Posted July 24 Are this new molds or molded based on takatoku ones? They toynmi branded tho
MKT Posted July 24 Posted July 24 Didn't Toynami wanted to release this many years ago, before they were blocked by HG? If so, now they have come full circle..

It'll be interesting if Bandai actually allowed them to even glanced at the master design-files of their and takatoku's original 1/55 moulds.
rsvictor1976 Posted July 24 Posted July 24 I don't know how I feel about these Toynami chunky monkeys. I always wanted to collect them again but Toynami doesn't have the best track record.
Shawn Posted July 24 Posted July 24 Using @jenius comparison guide https://anymoon.com/blog/?p=6244 The arm looks like 1982 Takatoku The landing gear bottom hinge brace line looks unlike either one-it is more pronounced than either. I dig the heads Antenna thick enough to not break.
danth Posted July 24 Posted July 24 (edited) 5 hours ago, MKT said: Didn't Toynami wanted to release this many years ago, before they were blocked by HG? If so, now they have come full circle.. Yeah, it only took them 40 years to get the toys they should have gotten originally. Well, I would consider getting Bandai releases of the 1/55s if they renewed the molds. I wasn't impressed with the last batch of re-releases with weak ratchets and the big gap between the chest/back in fighter mode. I'd be super down for a Bandai Missing Link 1/55, but I don't really want any cosmetic "improvements" that Toynami has to offer. New head sculpts kill the nostalgia. Edited July 24 by danth
danth Posted July 24 Posted July 24 The boxes are great. Hopefully these are through some partnership with Bandai and the quality isn't crap.
jenius Posted July 24 Posted July 24 I think the landing gear bulge just looks more pronounced because of the lighting.
nightmareB4macross Posted July 24 Posted July 24 Looks like an original resprayed with primer. Chest has the red stripe underneath. Also the heatshield is the very same used on reissues. Come on Tony, tell us.
sh9000 Posted July 24 Posted July 24 (edited) I'm down to get every release. Hope the teased VF-1D from the past gets released. Edited July 24 by sh9000
