  1. Can anyone speak to the quality of these? I swore off Bandai’s HMRs for a number of reasons and these look like those HMRs (or the early 2000’s Yamatos).
  2. If anyone lives around Los Angeles, you can visit the Little Toyko Mall and see the VF-1J in person until 14APR: Would love for someone to have a look and share impressions.
  3. And why are they highlighting only Myria on the splash screen? Don't get me wrong, I love Myria, but there are plenty of other notable females in the series. I hate having DEI shoved down my throat every where I turn so this isn't a rant about inclusion; this is just an observation that there are plenty of notable women in Robotech that are worthy of being highlighted.
  4. [I don't know where this post should live so I'm posting here.] What is the story behind "robotech.com?" Has it been abandoned? Feels like the owners are holding onto it...just because... Waaaaaaaaaay back in the day, I used to love swinging by it (and Macross World and Valkyrie Exchange) to get a dopamine hit before diving back into my thesis. Fast forwarding to the present, it's just really sad to check on robotech.com and see what it's become.
  5. Same. Bought all of the Hi-Metals available at Mandarake for nearly a month. Finally got around to opening them a couple months later, transformed two of them, and promptly noped out and sold the lot. Just not my thing, unfortunately.
  6. All hail jvmacross, the light bringer! Appreciate the share.
  7. Threezero's response in late December to my request for an update regarding the release of the VF-1J: ”We are sorry that there is a delay with the release of ROBO-DOU VF-1J Veritech (Rick Hunter) and the estimated shipping date would be in the 1st quarter of 2024. Best Regards, Threezero CS” They wouldn't provide an update until I gave them proof that I had ordered at least one VF-1J. It was a polite exchange, but I'm not eager to ask them again. Someone want to volunteer this time?

    1/55's revisited

I’ve got half a mind to buy one just to figure out how close the dimensions are to the original. But I haven’t pulled the trigger because of how disappointed I was back in ‘98 when I bought a Joon’s.

    1/55's revisited

First time visiting AliExpress (sp?) today. Look at this “hotness:” https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805682214535.html?spm=a2g0o.detail.pcDetailBottomMoreOtherSeller.2.64acwa4rwa4rpX&gps-id=pcDetailBottomMoreOtherSeller&scm=1007.40050.354490.0&scm_id=1007.40050.354490.0&scm-url=1007.40050.354490.0&pvid=f033c9eb-45e4-43b7-a658-96393fbdb237&_t=gps-id:pcDetailBottomMoreOtherSeller,scm-url:1007.40050.354490.0,pvid:f033c9eb-45e4-43b7-a658-96393fbdb237,tpp_buckets:668%232846%238110%231995&pdp_npi=4%40dis!USD!44.89!32.77!!!323.41!236.09!%402101c59117112949507156050e7270!12000034639414008!rec!US!!AB&utparam-url=scene%3ApcDetailBottomMoreOtherSeller|query_from%3A

    BANDAI DX YF-19!!

Interesting that the discount isn’t revealed until you visit the product page.
  11. You're in good company. This is exactly what I was thinking when I mentioned "offsetting" the leg in an earlier post. My concern was/remains how this bit of engineering would affect stability in gerwalk and fighter modes. I have no doubt this would work at a larger scale. But at this scale, I don't know. Maybe it would be viable if we made the Z-joints out of metal and had a detent or pin to lock the knee in both configurations.
  12. Love everything! The LEGOs are a perfect addition. I could not be more jealous. We're in Nashville where home prices are ridiculous. I can't wait for the market to correct (God willing!) and move into a place that allows for a 2nd home office. TY for sharing!
  13. Alright, Imma need to see your desk collection. I'm 75% travel for work and don't have a home office, unfortunately (house is 1000 sq. ft. and we're living on top of each other as it is). I'd kill for space enough to display some fidget-fighters. ...next house?
  14. I appreciate your point: I'm an (amateur) engineering nerd and I *love* when my transforming bots make "structural sense" in both/all modes. To use the nacelles as storage for the legs in fighter mode hurts the logical side of my brain that knows that that's just not possible. Furthermore, if the nacelles' only function is to serve as a storage bay, surely the YF-21's designers would have made very different design choices - choices that introduced less turbulence and wind resistance.
  15. I give those early designers *a lot* of credit for being able to actualize their designs and make things work at these small scales. Sure, concessions were made here and there, but they were still able to produce some real gems.
  16. Utilizing the space inside the nacelles is an interesting idea. I'm really looking forward to having the 21 in hand and seeing how one could make that a reality. This would be a radical redesign, but I can also envision how the nacelles could be part of the legs themselves (and actually fold into the legs to preserve the leg's current silhouette). That could be a more elegant solution than trying to work around the current design constraints.
  17. That's too bad. I swore off Yamato when they burst onto the scene (or, burst onto my radar) with the VF-1s in the early 2000s because of their design and material choices. I bought all of the Yamato Macross Plus valks as well but sold all of my Yamatos on eBay within a few months time. Fast forward to the last couple of years...I thought I heard good things about the 1/72 YF-21. I'm a little surprised and disappointed by how inelegant fighter mode looks. [Funny story. As I was prepping my VF-11 for shipping, the hip broke as I was transforming it back to battroid mode to repackage and ship in its original box. The hip bar sheared off during its 2nd transformation! Thankfully, the buyer said he didn't mind and still wanted it and didn't even ask for a discount. If anyone here fits that description, I hope the VF-11 brought you a lot of joy.]
  18. I don't own the Yamato 1/72s. I'm confused by the image from Any Moon. Has a panel been removed from the Yamatos allowing us to see the shoulder pad, arm, and internal sliding mechanism just anterior to the vertical stabilizer? That hurts my eyes. Burn that 5#!+ with fire.
  19. Thanks for weighing in. I can imagine potential solutions that would allow the lower leg to “offset” and partially stow inside the nacelles, but the required engineering isn’t elegant and would likely impact stability in gerwalk and battroid modes at the figure’s current scale. I won’t be certain until I have the figure in hand, can take some measurements, and see how the backpack is otherwise designed.
  20. @Jeff J @Seto Kaiba You two are awesome! Thank you both for the follow up. I appreciate folks who can school a nameless faceless like myself with kindness. Happy Friday!
  21. Actually, just went back and re-read the thread. In my first post today I said only that a new intro had been created, and that the only reason I’d buy Macross Plus again is if the movie was modernized like the new Robotech intro (regardless of whoever created it). Still true. I didn’t need to spin this thread any further. Anyway, I did and now I’m curious about how well Jeff and Seto’s contributions align. Thanks for the engagement.
  22. Link? And does your post jibe with Jeff J’s above? Is the clip from a pachinko machine, and/or is there a full animation?
  23. That sounds familiar. I just searched for the full video you mentioned but didn’t find anything. Got a link? The first time I saw the linked video years ago, I thought the description read that it was created to celebrate Robotech’s x-number anniversary. I wonder if I mistook that description to mean that it was an official Robotech-licensed production. I’ve looked a number of times for a full video but have never found it. In any event, I wonder if I got this updated intro confused with an updated opening to Shadow Chronicles or the animated Ghost in the Shell movie. I just looked for an updated Shadow Chronicles intro but didn’t see it. I didn’t look for the updated CGI opening to Ghost in the Shell because I bought it and know it exists (and I remember how frustrated and angry I was when I popped the disk in and realized only the intro had been recreated).
  24. Thank you! I’m currently enjoying the copy I purchased on eBay. I think at this point the only reason I’d purchase another copy is if they recreated the entire movie using computer wizardry (similar to how a new intro was created for Robotech; see below).
