  1. And It frees you up to indulge your customizing fetish. I'm curious to see what liberties you take with the color scheme...

    One... FOURTY-EIGHTH? (faints)

Thanks, beatsing. Love your avatar. Well, the Hi-Metal R toys closely match the depicted scale of the Regult in the animation, wherein it would be clearly impossible to fit a Battroid inside a Regult. And if you assume all Zentradi are relatively equal in height, then yes, the scale doesn't make sense... But remember, the Zentradi have the technology to radically alter their size at will, meaning average height is irrelevant; there's no reason to assume Regult (or Gnerl) pilots are anywhere near as large as the officers we see roaming freely around their ships. Even thirty years ago, this was received wisdom among Robotech RPG fans... yet, surprisingly enough, Macross fans still struggle with it to this day.
  4. 9 hours, at 1:72 scale... That's a DLP printer, then?

    Your statements contradict each other...
  6. Wow, proportions and detailing is all wrong. This is starting to look less like the GPB armor, and more like... an IDW Transformers design or something.
  7. Very impressive level of detail on that kit.
  8. As one so-called "expert" myself, you've forgotten a few stages of the process. Third-party manufacturers have sought my cooperation concerning: packaging design promotional text translation product photography retail distribution video reviews
  9. Well, Hideaki Anno, at least... But I don't consider it canon, any more than the soda pop and beer can missiles in DYRL.
  10. It's at the climax of SDFM episode 27, but I don't know if it's considered canon or not... ...since its markings read "Itano the Pervert."
  11. Yeah, it's an ugly and totally unnecessary redesign.

Oh, I love the restrooms in Macross Zero!
  13. He's one of the most high-end figures I own... The heft, the tolerances, the fit and finish are all top-notch. This is the Springer I've been waiting 33 years for. I appreciate the accuracy of the helicopter more, myself... although those tires roll really smooth in car mode. I can't imagine that... my figure has very tight ankles, and "Apache's" shoulders are clearly inferior.
  14. I tend to give Hasegawa the benefit of the doubt. Their 1:72 pilot scale seems consistent with other Macross merchandise... ...and their packaging demonstrates the proper use of a colon to denote scale (something a lot of people don't seem to understand).
  15. Really? The animation model is substantially different...
  16. I agree, the upcoming "Virtus" looks like a viable alternative to "Saltus," but "Big Spring" is clearly inferior... although certainly better than "Allen" or "Apache." [ . . . ] This is getting ridiculous. I still can't believe the third-party market can survive this level of competition.
  17. Well, this is interesting: A Macross Plus 1:72 VF-11 Super Thunderbolt by Hasegawa, and a Macross Plus 1:72 VF-11 Super Thunderbolt by Hobby Base RETPPU. I would expect some parts to exhibit minor scale discrepancies -- wings and feet, especially -- since the kits represent different modes... ...but this is unbelievable! These kits are clearly NOT to scale.
  18. I suppose this means the VF-1 fighter kit pre-orders have been selling well... ...and we'll probably be seeing more "Minimum Factory" pilot figures from Frontier and Delta (and fewer DYRL characters as a result).

So, you're asking for pictures from the booth where pictures were not allowed?
  20. That's the exciting thing with the Gnerl -- beyond the iconic Zentradi symbol mid-fuselage, there's no established precedent to work from. Keep it clean and simple like the anime does, hyper-detail it like old Imai packaging artwork does, or anything in between. Of course, but I'll probably need decals for some of the smaller markings anyway (not to mention all the custom decals I'm using for the Thunderbolt), and it's a more efficient solution than a complicated masking job... Without knowing how long this is all gonna take, I can't afford to be wasting time!
