General Sci-fi designs across various media

Chris Foss is a very icon artist. Recently "Jodorowsky's Dune Official Trailer" popped up in Youtube, and what I now know as Foss's artwork immediately caught and retained my attention whenever it appeared—even in the background! The covers above reminded me of a book I used to love taking out of the library when I was a youngin': While Stewart Cowley's style isn't quite as iconic as Foss's, I can see a lot of Foss's influence in Cowley's work (such as the checkerboard patterns on several derelicts in the book). Nevertheless, the combination of artwork and short stories in "Spacewreck: Ghostships and Derelicts of Space" had quite an impact on my young self. I don't know how well the stories hold up now, but the whole concept of the book still gives a lot of food for thought. -

General Sci-fi designs across various media

I get what you're implying, but honestly, I don't think anyone was really thinking that way in the 30s and 40s. I never made that correlation as a kid watching Batman in the 70s and 80s so I think that's more of a worldly adult POV. In retrospect, a lot of superheroes have questionable costumes hence the reason none of the actors in recent decades have worn skin-tight body suits like Batman '66 or Chris Reeves' Superman. Beyond that, the majority of female superheroes and villains were drawn to accentuate their feminine appeal, which generally means a fair bit of skin showing or just really form-fitting suits with ample bosom and plenty of cleavage. That trend carried over to sci-fi as well. -
She's coming along nicely @pengbuzz. How did the coolers turn out? Some nice clean masking @electric indigo. You could have just a display full of props, but this will be much nicer!

Yeah, that’s a creepy situation. But imagine if it were a random dude in a Speedo with everyone acting normal while he’s having an important conversation with dignitaries and such. And it’s only him. Just that is pretty creepy. I don’t know how that task force would keep any credibility. Then again that’s probably why Batman had so many eyes on him when he brought out his sidekick -

Well, you're not wrong. It is odd that she traipses around in a thong regardless of situation or environment and nobody bats an eye or shows any discomfort. I realize she's fully prosthetic, but it seems she's anatomically endowed and fully functional. She sleeps topless in just panties next to a teenaged boy in 2nd season after emerging from the shower in said panties with naught but a towel draped around her neck to partially cover her breasts. Moreover, after he inquires whether she can have sex, she playfully invites him to find out. A bit risqué if not ethically questionable. If the genders were reversed, I think there would've been far more flack and attention given to it back when it was airing on tv. What's more disturbing about it is that she's a cop. -

Cat guy, too. I thought about grabbing some of the other kits for the Constructicons, primarily the ones with replacement arms, but the expense just doesn't seem worth it to me when so much of what's in them would just stay in the box. Hence my wish for an arms-only kit. I think they'd get more sales of that than these kits with superfluous stuff in them.- 9418 replies

So ThreeZero Max includes an optional blue neck and Miriya doesn't include a red one? That feels odd.

I don’t know, that first season kinda weirds me out. The manga she totally fits with the other characters, but that first season of the show she’s just wandering around demanding to be taken seriously, but the only person in a thong. Doesn’t even matter the situation. She could be on the street or in a business office or at the prime minister’s building just the only person in a thong. The second part of the show put pants on and it kinda felt more in line with the universe, but nothing against hot ladies in thongs, but it just seems really weird to have one random lady in charge of things with just a thong and a short coat demanding respect -

Yeah. If all you want is the super parts, you could probably save a good amount of money by just getting the Renewal base figure as well, and then you'd have matching finish too.

Ha ha, I know I'm more of a cat guy myself. For some reason it's sometimes been cheaper to buy DNA kits domestically than from my favorite Chinese stores. And MMC's stuff is usually priced about the same. So I've got MMC's Scrapper and a bunch of DNA kits I'm still waiting to come into stock at The Chosen Prime... last I checked, I have the kit for Vector Prime and the Megatron arm and cannon for SS86 Optimus in stock and ready to ship, with the Bonecrusher/Scrapper, TFOne Prime/Megatron, Prima, and Godzilla Megatron kits still just preordered. Haven't decided on the other kits. I am interested in the waist swivel on Long Haul, I could take or leave moving the wheel, but I actually Devastator's backpack better stock. Aside from more arm articulation, the kit for Scavenger and Mixmaster seems pretty useless, but I'm worried that if I have four out of six horns that I'll cave just for those. Then I have to decide if I want the fourth kit, which has a ton of crap and is kind of expensive, when I really only want the centered knees and articulated hands... Oh, but that reminds me! I should preorder the kit for SS86 Megatron. I went back and forth on whether or not I just wanted the cannon and sword, but I decided the gap fillers are probably worth it for him. EDIT: Almost forgot, not super impressed with the Superion kit. The OX chest and head are an option for people that want it, but I don't. I'll wait and see if they have other stuff in the kit that I want, but for now it's just articulated hands, and I'm not paying for fortune just for that. EDIT 2: Also almost forgot, they're working on some kind of upgrade for Hearts of Steel Optimus. Just a silhouette so far, but it looks like it'll have the "trailer" seen in the Hearts of Steel concept art, so his engine mode isn't so stumpy.- 9418 replies
