I just checked HLJ. A similar item, the HI-Metal R VF-2SS sells for 14000 Yen. HLJ wants to charge me 9500 Yen for DHL + 4200 Yen for Duties + 3300 Yen for Carrier Handling Fee, for a total of 31000 yen. HLJ actually wants to charge me more for shipping than the item’s value?!

So my lady wanted to watch Ice Road Vengeance on Netflix. I said ok reluctantly, but mostly due to me picking the last couple movies. It’s pretty much garbage, but with a bit of Liam Neeson charm. It’s pretty bad when the movie has ice road in the title, but there are barely patches of snow on the ground in a couple spots. The highlight of the movie is that Liam Neeson can somehow get a bus’s Front axle removed, climb down a hill with a a wench they somehow set up using the wheel of the bus and remove the parts off another turned over bus at the bottom of a cliff and with very little help and get the new one set up in less time than an oil change all while bleeding from a gunshot wound to the side of his belly. All mechanics should be shown this scene and shamed if they take more than an hour to work on your car. Seriously, this movie is trash, but if you owe a favor then maybe it’s worth a watch. Or maybe if there an eventual Rifftrax version it might be more fun.

Very nice read. Makes me hopeful of further toy developments that will be in the $100-$150 range for the toys is always a bonus. While I have never touched the Sentinel Legioss or Tread, they look absolutely wonderful and worth the $200-$400 price tag, not to mention the Mospeada. The POSE+ looks awesome, but is way out of my league for price. The scale is perfect, but the cost is just too much. Hope to be able to acquire one of these. Twich

Man, you said it. I'm also working on a mostly white MOC and could use those in white as well. The Countach is an impressive set and I'm still tempted to pick it up, too. I kinda wish they'd done it in red, but I think they wanted it as a counterpoint to the Speed Champions version, which was also white. OR, perhaps, Ferrari took issue with making a Lambo in red. IDK- just spitballing, but some of these car companies can be rather fussy and demanding. I would have preferred it in black, too, over the white.

Thanks for the mention @mikeszekely, I usually don’t but KO but if Hasbro never does a Studio Series 86 repaint (the same way they never repainted the Earthrise version) I might have to look into this version. [edit:] I wonder why they didn’t bother painting a faction symbol. They clearly knew they could get in trouble thus not marking the box with a company name. You know what's irritating now.. I could easily use a few of those new compound curves to refine the OMS pods on my shuttle, if I can get them in white. I've been trying to come up with a better arrangement of elements, and that might make a really nice option for those curves. That Countach is really tempting though.. but sadly I probably do not have the spare funds to pick anything up at the moment, just from other priorities. Will have to see though.

A couple months back, James Gunn made some rather enlightening and illustrative remarks on that point in an interview with Rolling Stone. In his view, the number one reason the film industry is struggling (or "dying", in his words) is that studios are shooting shows and movies without a finished screenplay in hand. The problem is potentially more severe than having nobody review the writing. Studios are moving projects into production with incomplete screenplays and then literally attempting to make up the rest as they go. Which would explain an awful lot of Alien: Earth's problems like wildly inconsistent pacing, a lack of meaningful character development for almost the entire cast, the underutilization of most of the monsters from the Maginot, the way characters and monsters seem to engage in offscreen teleportation, the inconsistent security of the "secure lab" that requires door codes only and is supposed to be Synths only when it's dramatic but otherwise lets any rando walk right in and out, or the hilariously forced Peter Pan motif that doesn't actually fit in the story thematically after the first episode or two.

@Chronocidal, food for thought! I picked this up at our local LEGO Store this weekend after some hmmming and hawing over various options. I believe the last one of these I built was the Mustang, actually, since you mentioned it, and I considered the Countach, as it looked amazing. But I love dark blue and I love the look of the Cobra, so I made an executive decision! No regrets; as usual with these premium car models, there are plenty of interesting techniques, a few new parts which will come in handy for MOCs, and just an overall excellent capture of the real car's details and design, not to mention working steering, opening doors, hood, and trunk. This is a very curvy car, and the new 4x1 complex curved slope piece (7206 left and its analog, 7205 right) really allowed the designer(s) to execute them in an accurate manner. The model is stunning in-hand and I'm glad I chose it over some of the Marvel sets I was considering. The sticker sheet was small with only three or four stickers that weren't difficult to apply. The striped parts are all printed, as well as a 1x1 round tile with the Cobra emblem, and a few generic 1x1 round tiles with the gauge pattern. The build was smooth, as too are the functions of the final model; the doors have a satisfying little 'thoop' to them when they close and the hood/trunk open on double hinges that allow for them to close flushly like buttah. Overall, I give it a solid recommend. BTW, they had the Black Pearl at the LEGO Store and it is a large and impressive beastie to be sure. It's not really my jam, but for those who've hoped for a set of this magnitude, if they can spare the ducats, I'm sure they'll treasure the experience. Arrrr! From what I've read, the Pearl was designed by Mike Psiaki, Senior Designer extraordinaire, who has been responsible for any number of notable sets, especially the Icons Cars and the 10497 Galaxy Explorer. He has demonstrated time and again, a penchant for devising techniques and ingenious solutions to achieving very challenging shapes, functions, and features posed by the subject matter of the sets he works on. He was a brilliant MOC builder before working for LEGO, and we're all the richer for his having joined the company.

I don't know the base price of the shipping for this toy since I don't know the box size. I can say the base price for shipping Mafex Andrew Garfield from HLJ was 2200 yen plus 15% of the items price (3300) total and Nin-nin are known to be dirty so it sounds to me like they're frakking you.

Your talent, creativity, and skills are remarkable in the truest sense. I don't know about the other fellas here, but I'd love for more toys and animation that's similar to Macross, in the same vein anyways, but perhaps with a different narrative or justification for the need of variable planes and other vehicles. This is obviously an ambitious and downright impressive feat of design and engineering and I'm glad you've shared it with us here. I very much hope you get your wish and meet Kawamori-san at one of the Fests. He's not getting any younger and if Macross is to continue beyond his lifetime, there'll be a need for a protege who designs in a similar fashion. I'd say this makes for one jawdropping resume if in fact you wanted to pursue that. I've enjoyed seeing and reading your posts on both the process and the progress leading up to the finished product and it's both astounding and inspiring. Thanks and every success to you!

Totally I enjoyed the visuals and world building. Definitely edges closer to Blade Runner. The actions of most of the main characters were an ongoing head scratcher. And the big bet on a second season is so obvious it hurts . If that's true, it might explain a lot. But doesn't anyone review the writing?

The new DHL Duty Paid shipping that Nin-Nin is offering costs 10404 yen. The toy itself is 18900 yen. I don't think that new price structure is any better.
