jenius Posted November 13 Posted November 13 The planned Toynami release just became vaporware! Quote

MKT Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Thigh swivels are nice, but can't help thinking they could have just added something to make a basic A-stance. Maybe in the 60th Anniversary ver? lol.. 49 minutes ago, jenius said: The planned Toynami release just became vaporware! Could it be Toynami's the same as this & just distributing it outside Japan? nightmareB4macross Posted November 13 Author Posted November 13 Yup, a missed opportunity indeed. More improvements could have been done. Bandai is just pandering hard for nostalgia sales on this one. Well, at least they will know I am down to get one. Quote
danth Posted November 13 Posted November 13 (edited) Hopefully they fixed the mold and there won't be the same giant gap between the chest and back plate in fighter mode. Clipped pic from AnyMoon (don't sue me @jenius) : Also the reissue I had was sorta floppy; hoping for better clicky joints on this one. Edited November 13 by danth Quote
jenius Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Hopefully they reissue some old ones and give us a 1D? They made the prototype heads last time so we know they were thinking about it. Quote
Black Valkyrie Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Interesting, last year I wishing for Bandai to reissue DYRL VF-1S Hicki but now we are getting this. Quote
jvmacross Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Kind of meh.... But hope this means Bandai'd is open to a 45th DYRL 1/55 VT-1, VE-1, or VF-1S Strike Valkyrie... Quote
sh9000 Posted November 13 Posted November 13 If this gets released I'll be sure to get one and delete the one I'm looking for in the wanted thread. Quote
Scyla Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Very nice to see this release, I always wanted a chunky monkey. Since I plan to own only one I would like it to be a VF-1S Super Strike one (Hikaru or Max). Quote
Gabe Q Posted November 13 Posted November 13 I'm excited for this but uneasy about the all-in cost. Quote
Shawn Posted November 13 Posted November 13 here are some less blurry pics of it https://hobby.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/2062937.html Quote
jenius Posted November 13 Posted November 13 I wish they had updated the feet to be like the HCM so they could angle front and back, that would have really worked nice with the leg twist in Gerwalk. The ability to splay the legs out and articulated hands would have been a bonus... And a ball jointed head... And... Okay, maybe I should stick to the DX Quote

Okay, maybe I should stick to the DX I would of have been happy with just a reissue and come out with a new DX VF-1 variant. Quote
sh9000 Posted November 14 Posted November 14 With this release I'd love for Bandai to complete Vermillion Squadron in 1/55 scale. Quote

grogall Posted November 14 Posted November 14 with all the new announcements this week from Bandai , including this, the new V.O.T.O.M.S and Gundam releases, I'm running out of space really fast! 😅 Quote
ArchieNov Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Seeing this brings back the painful memories of my childhood when I used to deploy those spring loaded metal landing gears. Those really hurt! Quote
Mog Posted November 15 Posted November 15 Is it bad that I’d rather see something like @nightmareB4macross’s super-updated, super-articulated, filled to the gills with cool features 1/55 chunky instead? I get the intent of the release, but it would have been cool if they added a few more new articulation points and features. Quote
Shawn Posted November 15 Posted November 15 Wotafa posted a video-starts at 29:00 Put on the translate and trying to make sense of what he is talking about with Kimura of the Macross product planning and development? The video pauses and then he talks about possible upcoming products? So does that mean that large Macross display they had a couple years ago is actually coming? Google translate is not good enough, the the youtube transcript is garbage. Quote
grogall Posted November 15 Posted November 15 Something tells me this is not going to be sold for 3,980円 like the original units where either...🤪 Quote
Shawn Posted November 15 Posted November 15 They've pushed DX VF-1 variants to 39000 yen (the GBP Focker)....so a large scale SDF-1 is going to be double that I bet Quote
Mog Posted November 15 Posted November 15 Regarding the almost mythical SDF-1 prototype: two things. 1). Just make sure to keep the Bandai design team that worked on the YF-21 and the VF-17S as far away from this as possible. 2). An easy and simple preorder process would be nice for once. Wishful thinking on my part, I know. But that prototype was the one Macross item that genuinely excited me. Quote
Shawn Posted November 16 Posted November 16 For any new readers who don't know the sdf-1 we are referring too Quote

Shawn Posted November 16 Posted November 16 No, Cruiser mode only was ever displayed There was a 1/1800 SDF-1 in Storm Attacker mode from DYRL in 2015, along with the DX precursor VF-1J https://tamashiiweb.com/column/39/?wovn=ja Quote

If only I had the manufacturing capabilities I would make this available to everyone. Edited November 16 by nightmareB4macross Quote
