Perhaps 1/60 is influenced from his days at T-REX, and he did work on some of Yamato's Macross stuff. But not complaining since it's the best scale going smaller than Sentinel's.

Didn't work out any numbers, but 1/60 would prolly be in the ballpark of the HMR VF-1 size.. I can see it being a good desk toy.

"Canon" size aside, the Legioss looks stupidly tiny compared with anything modern, to the point that it's not even believable.  The 1/48 cockpit is cramped enough that it looks like it should be 1/60 anyway.

Yeah, 1/60 for the Legioss will definitely be tiny. Displaying it with the HMRs might be okay from afar but when you focus on the cockpit and pilot... just like how it's weird for me when the I put my Riobot Iota side-by-side with the 3Zero VF-1S in fighter and I look at the pilot figures. Battroid/Soldier mode might be a different story.

I hope 1/60 scale will make it more feasible to produce different versions of the Tread.

Hmmm... again I'm rereading this several times to see where does he confirm it's 1/60... 😅

Still wondering what that "reason" is and the details behind it. I hope it's more Mospeada or Genesis Breaker related instead of Robotech. -_-

Took out my Tread, put it on its landing gear and, so far, I'm very impressed.

Looking forward to your review. B))

Mine just shipped from Nin-Nin, so I’m glad I avoided their curse.

Now I just need a Legioss.

Mine was also shipped from NinNin, but I think the earthquake stopped it in its tracks. 🤐

Yes, happy to have my Tread but my Legioss hasn't shipped from Hobby Genki.

Toynamishop shows it will be available again in August/September. Hopefully I'll snag one then.

That makes me question the premium price which, among other reasons, is supposed to be due to it being limited to only 500

Can it grip it?

Yep!  And I don’t need the trigger extension like with the Toynami Beta:

IMG_8887.jpeg.d30d2df87f0a1791406bfcf2d852d138.jpeg

As you can see, the head doesn’t exactly turn much without having a heavy tilt.  So, the Toynami wins out on that front.

But yeah, just went through a solo bomber transformation process.  Absolutely ingenious how they fit the landing gear in there and incorporate tabs to keep everything locked in.

Digging how everything tabs or hides with this rendition.  Lot of nice little improvements everywhere with the design.

The chest is not as wide and “beefy” as the Toynami.  But the Sentinel’s bomber mode is definitely less gappy than Toynami’s, as a result.

Sentinel’s forearms are also slightly bigger and not as rectangular as the Toynami’s.

Gonna snap some bomber comparison pics now.

Apologies in advance:  the old girl was exposed to the sun over the years and yellowed in spots.  And the yellow cockpit windows have gotten scuffed from being in fighter combo mode.

Also, forgot to push out the two circles in the middle of BOTH bombers’ chests.:pardon:

BOMBER COMPARISONS:

As I alluded to above, the Sentinel Legioss’ design definitely helped to reduce the gaps in the Tread’s bomber mode and greatly reduced the length of the connecting boom.

The Toynami’s chest is wider, but also very gappy in comparison:

IMG_8890.jpeg.bd03f85eaf9afe72dfc6f97f2209b013.jpeg

You can also see that the Toynami tends to “look” wider and flatter.  While the Sentinel tends to have more of a curvy look.

Also, if you don’t put down the middle booster flap, the Toynami is a bit back heavy and wants to tilt back.  However, that little flap is a lot stronger and firmer on the Toynami than it is on the Sentinel.

Lastly, the Sentinel has a deeper, almost Macross/SDF-1 blue, while the Toynami has a more grayish blue hue.

Sucks that Sentinel’s is fixed pose too.  But the Sentinel does have one additional opening the Toynami doesn’t have:

My eyes and my hands are gonna hate trying to paint this fixed pose bastard. <_<

EDIT:  Just discovered you can lower the cockpit further down.  Whoops:

That's a cool weathering job you did on your Masterpiece Beta, @Mog.

Mine still has that "new toy" look. 😉

I'd say the Toynami is closer to the SDF-1 color scheme, whereas Sentinel's blue is more VF-1J Max...

Prolonged exposure to sunlight may have exaggerated the color difference on yours. 🤔

That's either a rhetorical question, or you're just being facetious. 😅

That’s just dust, not weathering. 😁

I did sticker and panel-line her up years ago, along with making a bigger “MB 07” stickers for the wing.

I wish I had more Danger and No Step stickers left from the Toynami’s (yes, plural).  But we’ll see what I can pull off.

Still gotta check out the fighter combo.

Understand, I still absolutely love my old Toynami Betas; they been the unquestioned king for over 15 years now.

But my goodness, the Sentinel is a REVOLUTIONARY improvement to the Tread/Beta.  It’s like going from the 1/55 Takatoku to the Yamato 1/48.

I mean, I always said someone could reduce the gappy-ness and better integrate the cockpit for soldier mode.  Sentinel did that.

Then they incorporated the connecting boom AND solid landing gear directly into the figure (and not as separate pieces?)?!?!  WHAT?!

I’m just amazed at all the little tricks and bits this figure pulled off.  Just all sorts of nice decisions you can see in the design.  There’s some markings I’d personally change, as personal preferences.  And the limited range of motion on the head is frustrating.

But this is the design that all future Treads/Beta Fighters should be based off of.

It’s that damn good.

We have a new king. 👑

Well, you never know...  the riobot bikes can break. i may take the old beagle bikes over the new riobots.

I hope that huge robotech alpha fighter will  or someone someday have individual removable micro missiles or have some smoke effect parts.
