IPB Image

The above emblem is the WWII emblem for the real life VMFA(AW)-225 "Vikings" squadron. Back then in WWII, it was VMF-225.

For Macross purposes, the unit will be converted to UN Marine Fighter Attack Squadron; VMFA-225 "Deathdealers," utilizing the above WWII logo.

Primary Color: Dark Brown

Stripe / Trim: Off-white, like the patch above

The emblem will replace the standard UN "Kite."

The above emblem is for the current Marine squadron, VMFA-314 "Black Knights."

For Macross purposes, it will be converted to UN Marine Fighter Attack Squadron; VMFA-314 "Black Knights"

Primary Color: Black

Stripe / Trim: Yellow

Slogan to be painted onto the VF-1 legs and parts of the FAST Packs as well as GBP-1S Armor Systems:

"Once a Knight is not enough!"

The emblem will replace the standard UN "Kite."

Blue (Shin Kudo VF-0D blue) and white: Shinsengumi Squadron.

Hell, Japan had a Shinsengumi Squadron during WWII.

I dunno about the white triangles... Maybe have them along the wings and rear of the plane (stabilizers, backpack, arms, and legs). With the kanji: Makoto as the squad symbol.

Dark blue undersurfaces, tail fin section and outer half of the wing upper surfaces. White everywhere else with a thin red stripe seperating the two colours. Basically the Empire Test Pilots School colour scheme. (I was working on a custom 1/55th that was meant to be in this scheme, but it really didn't work out)

Squad Colors: Primarily black, with some grey here and there, and a smattering of red trim and red markings.

Squad Name: "Sliver Red Aces," specializing in espionage and reconnaissance. (You know, all the fun black ops stuff. )

I think Millia would kill me if I stole her paint scheme. Better come up with something original...

Dark green, with rust-colored trim, I guess. Black anything is far too cliche.

If we go DYRL-style and have individual trim colors on white planes, I'm flying white with green. And that makes me Kakizaki, so... I'm thinking no.

If I were setting up a squadron...

Hmm...

So many choices...

...

I'll get back to you on that one...

hmm....

with me, I'd go Millia-style, but with a brighter red, and less white. Make just the leading surfaces white, as well as the flaps and intakes.

for the squadron name.....even thought it's sorta-cliche "Rolling Thunder"

The other planes in the squadron would be a maroonish color with grey where mine whould be white.

LOL :) THis thread just hit me with something so obvious. Here I am doing all this coloring for the website and it never even occured to me to color a custom variant :)

Now I'm getting all kinds of ideas. Maybe a Halloween color scheme or a Christmas valkyrie! :)

I've always loved blue with white trim, but since max already did that, i'll have to go with something else..

I'm liking the light grey with read trim.. though that smacks of a "hot topic" squadron.

I might try the CF pattern, with a light tan in place of the white, and a rich green color in place of the brown

My realistic scheme would have to be Primary Black, Dark Grey secondary, and alternating Black or grey markings (depending upon which color the marking lay on). I mean, its space, why make your valk easy to spot in combat? And since in Macross the squads tend to be made up of 4 valks I would have to say the squad title would be Horsemen.

But actually I would go with a light electric blue, with white leading edges and yellow trim and a blue dragon emblem on the fins and heat shield. This is based on a dragon avatar I use in alot of my creations.

Now since my fiancee is sitting right here and want's to be heard too, she would have Grey valk, with Purple seconday and pewter trim. and the canopy will be amber, like the SV-51's

I'd color mine in an all BMF (bare-metal finish), with a blue nosecone and blue rudders -- the colors of the famous 352nd Fighter Group, the "Blue-Nosed Bastards of Bodney". Of course, can't forget the D-Day stripes...

use the jolly rogers paint layout with a low saturation pink in place of the grey, and a teal or turqoise for the black. Round it off with a bright pink heart for the emblem and name them the "Dainty Ladies"

Lace and stockings for the wings and legs are optional but encouraged.

I hate to reference another animé series for the use of Macross, but the colour scheme is so unusual, I thought visual comparison would be better...

Wing Zero Custom Hikaru Special

Something about the way the blues, greys, and silvers clash on each other would make a Valkyrie look super fierce, particularly were the fores of the wings glinted with silver while having a main blue colour.

hesistate between two choices: 2 vf1a low vis 1.0 scheme with the black right fist. the leader will also have low vis scheme but with blck vf1j head. name: "Black fist squadron" specialised in commandos operations

the second choice:

leader with black stealth scheme.

2 vf1a in black deep space colour with very light white points for the space camouflage

"space mantas" or "storm crows"

you know.. i have nothing against black as a cool paint scheme, but in the end, you gotta stop explaining it as a good color for "camo" in space.

Light doesn't work in space the way it does on earth. in space if light is reflecting off of something you'll see it, unless it's very far away (which it certainly will be)

Conversly in space there is no "ambient" light to light up the "shaded" side of an object (unless you are very close to some other bright object).

In short, anything in space is essentially invisible unless it's in the right conditions and right proximity to you, in which case you're going to see it no mater what color it is.

A good example is the moon. Most people don't realize that the moon is made up of nearly entirely jet black rock. In space you're either lit up like a candle or invisible. suffice to say, in space, unless both parties are activly TRYING to be seen, you'll be shooting at blips on your "radar" screen more often than eyeballing the enemy.

So please feel free to let your imaginations and creativity run wild with the color schemes.

that said, i was thinking of a cool "standard" looking jungle theme, what about CF pattern with white = green and brown = darker than cf brown.

seems like it'd make a neat scheme.
