    That's something that annoyed me. Captain Johnson is the commander of Elysion, and he had to sit in a chair sized for a normal human? And drink from a normal mug? Come off it. His entrance was enough; he doesn't need to descend into caricature.

    In the sub I watched, they were called mercats. I'll be honest. I'm in this for the Valkyries, Mirage, and an explanation of what the Aerial Knights are doing. The songs don't do much for me at all, not even Ikenai Borderline... but few people can follow up Yoko Kanno, so I kinda expected that. The story and the setting have hooked me. Most of the characters I don't mind, which might be damming with faint praise, but aside from Mirage, and possibly Kaname, I don't have much investment with any of them yet. I rather like Messer, though, hopefully he won't simply be a rules-bound cold fish. His small sequence in the opening credits give me hope he won't. By the way: OP? MD? Huh?

    Well, in the new Way of Thinking About the Force, it could be that earning the title of Jedi carries an understanding that you have a true mastery of its aspects - whether that's lightsabering, choking, or mind-controlling. That's huge. Rather like the difference between an ashigaru, say, and a fully trained samurai. The ashigaru could give a good accounting of himself, perhaps, but I know who my money's on. So it may be for the Jedi. Now, anyway.

    She IS a Skywalker/Kenobi/who knows what, so it's not like she's totally a novice. Who knows what secrets are locked in her head that could be manifesting?

    I am optimistic. There, I said it. Don't discount the Force making an appearance unless NO ONE says "I have a bad feeling about this." I love the idea that this will be a self-contained story. Beginning, middle, end, all in one sitting. It's been a while.

    I think the gear are there simply to move the 31 around the base in fighter mode. It makes perfect sense for me if this Valkyrie was a pure VTOL. If the VT-1 can do it with only verniers on Earth, surely 60 years later the 31 can. Vertical take off, get to altitude, cut the burners in, and given this thing's undoubtedly ridiculous T/W ratio, it'll accelerate faster than most any catapult could do. Now watch it be CTOL in the anime...

    But that's likely all it would do. A full movie would give you a chance to see what Obi-Wan did day to day. Did he continue his light saber practice? Did he commune with Qui-Gon on a regular basis? In the comics he planted a flower bed in memory of Asaaj Ventress; will that be canon? Stuff like that, which gives Star Wars its soul, rather than a series of life-or-death fights and philosophical struggles.
