New! Reebok Stompers from Aliens Announced!
Sildani replied to Lonely Soldier Boy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Seiko. They're a few hundred bucks. -
Because the Army MIGHT be allowed to run a CAS Osprey. No way in hell could they fly a Ghostrider.

Can't remember where I read it. Sorry, David. Should probably excise that memory if I can't back it up. But yeah. Skinny arms. Bulges. Uniboobs. Passive versus active. This thread is starting to get interesting!

Here's a question: are spare parts for the A-10 still being made, and at what cost? Attack helicopters are great at their job, but they're less survivable than the A-10 because you can only protect rotors and transmissions so much before they're too heavy to work properly. I'm surprised a CAS V-22 hasn't happened yet. Hang some ordnance under the wings with an interlock that prevents firing while the engines are level; or mount it on the forward fuselage. Good loiter time, only a bit slower than an A-10, faster than and not quite as vulnerable as an attack helicopter.

The book Flight of the Minotaur by Stephen Coonts had a good example of active stealth. Radar signals are waveforms, so this system detected the signal, analyzed its frequency, wavelength, amplitude, and so on, and generated a perfectly opposite waveform which would cancel out the radar's. It could do so within milliseconds. Since radars detect the "bounced" signal, if there's no bounce to read, there's no detection. Pretty elegant, I thought. The Russians say they can generate a plasma field around an aircraft, thereby absorbing, deflecting, or letting the radar signal bypass the aircraft somehow. Dunno if that's real or just propaganda.

Wonder if the future T-X advanced trainer could be used for this.

CF's problem was due to crap plastic used on a really complex design. All the EX models used a better quality plastic and haven't exploded that we know of. So the 262 may have its own problems, but plastic quality shouldn't be one of them any more.

Exactly why I don't mind it. Like I've said, IF the 31A is never made (and I really hope it is), Delta 02 is as close to lo-viz as we'll get, itasha and all.

Macross Δ (Delta) News Thread - READ 1st POST
Sildani replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
What a great. Great. Pic of Mirage. I'm infatuated. May she and Kaname have the personality I hope they do. As for Jetfire: suppose it's a VF-1 pilot who saw a cool show about transforming robots when he was a kid and painted his personal Valkyrie to match? 😄 The other VF reminds me of an Angel Bird, kinda. -
THAT'S cool. I'd love one with the UN kite and "New Edwards TFC" on it.

"PLEEEEEEEAASSSSEE LET US HAVE THEM!!!" Or something like that.

Macross Δ (Delta) - NYE Special Talkback - READ 1st POST

I think Graham might be like me - I can read pretty fast, and I retain what I read better than what I hear. Or something. -
No, you're not. I just look at it, and weep, knowing I'll never fit into it.

Thanks for all the advice, Schizo. I wound up buying it. It was in good mechanical shape, needs a bit of cosmetic repair (headliner fabric rests in my head) and a damn good interior cleaning. I'll grab a pic or two later on. I looked and looked, but couldn't see that 0331 stamp. Perhaps it's smaller than I thought, or maybe it doesn't have one. It is a 4X4, but does not have the full-time 4WD position. It was pretty fully equipped, being a Cherokee Classic. If you have the time and inclination, Schizo, a quick treatise on what to watch out for l, and a Cherokee's typical quirks, would be welcome. For instance, I kinda have to hit the brakes pretty hard to get them to bite, and the feel isn't what you call progressive. Still, stopping happens with a good amount of authority. Is that a quirk of Cherokees? Stuff to do: scrub interior, replace headliner, install Weathertech matting, put on seat covers, and eventually replace some black paint. Not bothering with making it more off-road capable since that's not its mission. It'll be a utility vehicle, on-road, with bad weather capabilities. Thanks for the advice!

Look at the country. Conflict and "versus" have been a part of the USA for a good few years now. Art imitates life.

So, if Ford's killing off his characters, when can we expect Witness 2: Barn Raises You?
