Let's also remember it was based on the 19, which had gear. Let's also remember the toys were all recovers, mostly, of previous 19 toys, and for sure the makers weren't going to engineer landing gear out of the toy, regardless of whether the Valkyrie in the show had them or not. I DOUBT Kawamori would design a Valkyrie without an undercarriage, too. But then, I doubted there'd be a Macross with magical girl sequences too.

That's because the Valkyries the toys are based on always had them. These 31s, and Delta itself, are so different that they may be maintained differently. What if Battroid was the default maintenance mode, with everything accessible? And what if there were only these 5 VF-31s? Keep them in Battroid when not in battle and put them on a moving pallet to move them around. You do that, landing gear aren't needed at all. Land in Gerwalk, disembark, Valkyrie then transforms into Battroid upon the crew chief's need. Change to Gerwalk to get into the cockpit. Potentially.

It just occurred to me the the hardpoints on the wings are likely how the ghosts/drones are going to be secured on to the wings, like how the VF-19 Advance's Super parts do. The 262's wings will fold over, probably revealing a slot. The ghost/drone tabs into the slot, and a portion of it snaps into the hardpoint.

The two flat exhausts between the nacelles and fuselage are ramjets I believe. Let's not forget as well the rocket engine nozzles built into the nacelles. So the VF-4 is, at minimum, a SIX engined fighter.

For me, I'll get Delta 02 because I like the 31's design and 02's paint the best. So if I only get one, that's why. Don't much care about the pilot. If I get a SECOND one, that's where liking the character will come into play. Why look at a toy that'll only remind you of someone annoying?

If they do, it won't happen this year. Someone tweeted Mr. K about it and he responded they couldn't "motivate" it. Behold: @ELS00QANT1 A happy new year! And we are playing as good. Could not set the SV-51 motivated cranked up to! But price and elaikoccha!. So for 2016, looks like the VF-0S, VF-4, and the YF-19 reissue are it, with the 0's reactive armor coming first thing in 2017. I think.

I think so. Let's not forget also that these aren't coming out until autumn. Plenty of time to make the gimmicks.

If the Walküre do have reins, that makes a tiny bit of artistic sense, since the Valkyries of old were supposed to ride down from Valhalla on flying steeds. Haven't seen the episode yet - lack of time - but I already want them to sing "Kill da Wabbit". That'd make the series, for me. -
Delta 02 for me. It's the closest to lo-viz they have, and since I doubt they'll make a CF 31, or a YF-31, it'll be the one that most closely matches my collection theme. Buying one for a character, like Mirage, completely depends on if I care for their character.

Messer's first name is probably a reference to Messerschmitt, the legendary German aircraft designer/company. -
Love how much wing the 31 has compared to the fuselage. I don't see any gear doors either. Still, it's a prototype, so they could still come later. As for markings, it is plain up top. Perhaps as the series continues, the pilots will add their own art.

New Super parts. They rest on top of the wings, and might connect to the bottom hardpoints as well. The double-thruster appearance reminds me of the VF-11's.

Interesting pics! So the wings can rotate and they have their own integrated thrusters. They also look like they split apart about mid-wing and fold up, forming end-plate fins. EDIT: No, as it turns out those are drones/bits/ghosts that attach to the wings - the outer wing panel fold away to make room. From the Delta info thread: Cool that the cannon can rotate. Also: those are some BIG feet.

Very nice. This will be one of those toys where, if the QC is not up to snuff, it will be terrible. Many panels that have to align precisely, and a lot of large tampo apps that are very prominent. This is one Bandai can't just phone in.
