He didn't want to? Nice design. No gear doors that I can see either. Also: VF-31 Siegfried? Is that this Valkyrie's series name?

He's got kind of a Hawai'ian/Pacific Islander vibe going on, to me. Besides, "mood maker" wouldn't be properly represented by formal clothes I guess.- 2715 replies

Star Trek Beyond (the not The Search for Spock)
Sildani replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Impossible to say based on that one trailer. I'm withholding judgment until more hard data becomes available, not hearsay. I can't help but think that, had the tech and budget been available, that Roddenberry would have made TOS a bit more active than it was. As for Fast/Furious shenanigans, well, there WAS that dune buggy in Nemesis, with Picard driving and Worf acting as tail gunner. I'm not condoning, mind, just saying there's precedent for furious driving of off-road vehicles. Finally: if the Enterprise gets destroyed and replaced by a new model based on the Excelsior, it'll look seeeeeeeeexxxxxxyyyyy. Worth seeing for that alone, in my book.- 466 replies

Or, one person's opinion and taste. Takes all kinds. Without this movie's buzz, what's out there to entice or attract new Trek fans, eh? Without new blood, any fandom will wither and die, Trek included. Old movies and shows , Internet fan movies, and a pay-per-view (ish) series of unknown provenance are simply not enough.- 466 replies

For over $300, why should it have to be remedied?

Eh, they could always attach a VF-4 to a high school like they did a VF-1 in Frontier... Or maybe a kid will be playing a VF sim with a Lightning III! Who knows?

GAR-ness? Also, Buccaneer as a last name? Are they implying anything, or is it an English word they thought sounded cool?- 2715 replies

Gospel from the Hoary Froating Head!! So informative. And you can read between the lines and see he's mad as hell about the Robotech/HG situation.- 2715 replies

Sensor windows maybe? Not painted to avoid interference? And Isamu's doesn't have them because he specified he didn't want them. When you charge in guns blazing, sensors are useless anyway.

Love the fact the NSX, a supercar, is hand-built by 700 Ohioans less than 25 miles from my hometown. May it sell, sell, sell. And prove a few of you guys wrong. In other news, Honda is reviving the S2000, to compete with the Miata and that new Fiat 124.

I didn't know that! Cool.

And more skin-tight. Pretty soon, all you'll have to imagine is the color of the various bits.

Saburo is the sole reason I own a VF-27B now. His pics of Brera's ride just made it look... so... uhhh.... urrrkk.... Say, next Friday is the pre-versary of its first flight! (And my birthday). Only 42 years to go... -
Hope they do this for the VF-4G. The process of production is almost as interesting as the toy itself. Plus, pics for the archives.

And that's what led to RR getting bought by BMW, and Bentley by VW. Those 1% don't spend money too often. Companies don't last without being profitable, unless subsidized by the government, or bought by other, larger companies. Who then want profitability.
-
Sweet, sweet money. The answer to at least 70% of the "whys". VW wants Bentley to be more profitable. The way to do that is an SUV, which apparently market research says its customer really want. This also gives them economies of scale, so that whatever new chassis, suspension bits, and so on they come up with can be spread around further. Finally, an SUV doesn't cost too much more to make than a sedan, but you can charge a lot more for it, which means more profit right there. So yeah. Money.

That happens in real life. Look up a Polish RAF pilot named Josef Frantisek. During the Battle of Britain, he flew Hurricanes and was considered a terrible team player and lacked discipline. However, he had already flown with the Czechs and Poles, with a couple hundred flight hours. So they let him pretty much fly and fight on his own, and I believe he scored 14? 19? confirmed before he flew himself into the ground, supposedly while showing off aerobatics to his girlfriend. So yeah. Desperate times call for any able-bodied person who can fly and fight, to fly and fight.
