I'll definitely plan to go see it in the theater. Let's hope it's not quite so long until the third and final part. 🤔- 4052 replies

The computer and electronics super geek thread
mikeszekely replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
On YouTube, ETA Prime pulled the graphene pad that's stock over the MacBook Neo's internals and cut the section that goes over the A18 out. He then applied some Noctua thermal compound over the A18, then covered it with a strip of copper. On the other side of the copper he used an Arctic TP-3 thermal pad to create a physical connection between the copper and the bottom of the Neo's aluminum chassis. After doing so, he was able to get roughly 10-20% better scores on synthetic benchmarks. For less synthetic results, he was playing No Man's Sky. Totally stock, he was running the game on about medium settings and the Neo would quickly hit 105 degrees and start thermal throttling, resulting in around 30fps. Just by replacing the stock pad with his copper-and-TP3 solution the A18 stayed in the mid-80s, which made throttling unnecessary and netting him nearly 60fps. I don't have any sheets of copper just lying around, but I wonder how long it's gonna be before we start seeing professional kits that do this? Seems like there's a lot of extra performance that can be wrung out of the A18 Pro just with better passive cooling. -

I took notice th at Takara is now doing the gift box set for G2 Stunticons and man, that's frustrating. We're 2 characters short of finishing the series and it's been what? well over 2 years now? Rather inexcusable time table in my opinion, I get they wanna get other stuff out there but it doesn't take much when you already got a mold and just need to alter color tones, it's just BS to me. It's also feeling like a waste of money and that I may be better off just trying to order this gift set....with any luck it'll be a superior quality over some of the flubs that Hasbro has been making with their releases and the QC issues that continuously pop up on their new releases. It's really making me fall out of love with transformer collecting big time.- 18253 replies

Project Hail Mary was really good. I'm not usually into watching movies with the scenes 'time-skipping,'' but it fit here as it... I liked the interactions with Rocky and just love that he was a practical effect. That's so cool.

The Unlicensed Third Party Transformers Thread

Late to the party 🎉 I know, BUT TF Direct has $4 shipping to the US goin on for some stuff, (and it got delivered to me in TX in less than 15 days with NO additional shipping or tariff charges!) so I picked up these two for my small TF collection. These are my first Magic Square figures, I've only had New Age previously, but these two sure looked the part! I love G1 toon accuracy so I think these little guys will fit in well!- 9535 replies

I am almost purely MSI/Gigabyte/Corsair nowadays, when I have a choice. (I would be 100% Gigabyte if I could, but they don't make everything, and I swear 2/3 of my last PC's have been "emergency" purchases so I have to take what I can get on short notice, not what I TRULY want) - Today

I like the Harry Potter novels, enjoyed the movies muchly. Regarding the new HBO TV trailer, the set pieces look great. I hear Warwick will return to play Professor Flitwick!

The whole thing is crazy. This administration of our government can't be gone quickly enough. I just want to buy the toys I like at decent prices.

I just finished collecting all three variants of the original Battle Pods. Would you buy a whole new set of of the weathered ones? I wonder if this is also going to be a trend with the upcoming scout and officer's pod?- 2728 replies

Well the outcome looked beautiful to me. Hahaha. Sometimes we get into rough waters and discover cool things as we attempt to right the ship. I’m sure your next go at the process will yield even better results. 👍
-
That process was quite unintentional - it was a desperate repair job on botched clearcoat (Mr. Hobby lacquer) reaction to the Tamiya (Acrylic) paint underneath with the added complication that I had already applied the decals. After the repairs were done, I tried that thinned ink with sponge/brush technique and it was an ok first attempt. I need to get better before I try it on a F-14 TPS scheme.

Yeah. I just held the piece and stuffing in my off hand and sprayed. Went lightly at first and finding a sweet spot for paint flow will just happen. Smaller bursts of paint were most effective for my attempts. Soooo simple. I found that after the stuffing was used a bit the effect was better since there were some more defined pathways for the paint to penetrate. Does that make sense? The whole process was inspired by folks spraying through dried up distressed baby wipes to create marble effects I didn’t want marble but used a similar method. I didn’t have baby wipes so used stuffing as a filter Next time I will make sure to put on gloves. Hahaha. Well as far as weathering I absolutely loved the Ostrich you shared on here. That had such an amazing surface treatment and required quite the process if I remember.
