I certainly do not think it's off-topic, and is a fascinating discussion. -

I mean... this almost seems by definition a fan theory too. It's a bit disingenuous to call someone out on it, I think. -

Hearing the transformers sounds on this is so weird. Still would never have guessed an Optimus prime Fire valkyrie Mashup was on the agenda post licensing agreement. Strange times.

rematron started following Star Trek: Strange New Worlds
-
yes. It transforms. Including the foldy part under it.
-
That happens a lot in Star Trek for some reason. Presumably a symptom of The Main Characters Do Everything. It's been particularly egregious in Kurtzman's Trek though, with just a handful of baddies somehow capturing a ship with a crew of hundreds effortlessly.

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!
Seto Kaiba replied to Valkyrie Driver's topic in Movies and TV Series
In Japanese, his name is written γγͺγΏγ€γ»γ―γͺγγγ― (lit. Buritai Kuridaniku). "Britai" is a viable romanization of that. From long (bad) habit, I tend to mostly default to the official "alien" romanizations that were used in Do You Remember Love? since those are used in a lot of product packaging and artbooks. Most of those spellings are "close enough" though some are truly just "alien for the sake of looking alien". The banner in DYRL? when they have the ceasefire agreement spells "Zentradi" as "Zjentohlauedy" if you translate the alien text. The Robotech versions of a lot of the romanizations are often just straightforward slightly tweaked literal readings of the Japanese text that try to make them less tongue twister-y. For example, the Robotech name for the Queadluun Rau battle suit is "Quadrano", which is a lightly tweaked version of the Japanese γ―γ‘γγ©γ³γ»γγΌ (lit. Kwadoran Rou). Considering the much improved armor, actuators, and generator capacity of those Gen 3.5 and later machines like the VF-17, VF-19, and VF-22 and the fact that they were several generations on from the understanding that the Zentradi use mecha too, I'd assume that a Zentradi soldier might put up a fight but would probably be outpowered by the sheer torque those superconducting motors can produce when you throw a couple gigavolts at 'em. Quamzin's a commander-type Zentradi in most versions of the story, yeah. He's a good head taller than the normal soldiers under his command. -
Yeah Iβm going to buy a file from Arbit for 3d printing. They have designs for DYRL pilots that should work out great for this project. Now I need to find a flight stand. I see Hasegawa has some but they look a bit clunky. Anyone recommend a good stand for 1:72 scale?

Itβs like he got a last name for a first name and a nickname for a last name. he was also pretty great on those recent snl sketches. I donβt really care for SNL these days, but a good host seems to bring out the best in this kinda lame cast

Ok, thatβs not as bad, but that thing looks so cool extended that I canβt believe theyβd leave out the pilots. Hope you can get your hands on some and if it doesnβt have a flight stand, then hopefully one of those as well. I have the hmr toy and that looks awesome in fighter mode, one of the few Valkyries that I prefer in fighter over battroid or gerwalk

I gave a second's thought to picking up the new multipack SS86 Perceptor at Target. I held it in my hands, and my desire to have that Ramhorn was strong, but not strong enough to coerce me into purchasing. I wasn't aware of the mold change to Preceptor's torso, but I knew about the new panel on his back to cover the hole where his head goes. Nevertheless, I wasn't 100% enthused with the original SS86 release, as I was disappointed that he didn't have the swing-down mirror and the internal focusing mechanism was no longer functional. In my view, these new toys should better the original toys in every sense, so the loss of those functions, functions that the G1 toy and even the TR figure had, is a downgrade from their predecessors. Too, the arms are supposed to form the support columns for the scope, but on this mold, they sit too far apart, and the scope just floats on its transformation armature. Again, a downgrade from both G1 and TR figures. The mold's only saving grace is its bot mode's likeness to the animation, which I realize is the driving focus of the vast majority of TF collectors. Alas, it's not mine. I prefer a good mix of both OG toy and toon where the best attributes of both are captured. Turning to Ramhorn, I think they did a pretty good job on this guy, much better than Steeljaw's Pomeranian look. It's lamentable that both require partsforming, not only to provide their weapons like the OG toys, but to actually fill out and complete the animal forms. Bit of a nasty cheat in my eyes, but the new cassettes, from their dismaying downscaling to the absence of effort to actually make them look like cassettes, and the need to add parts of the bot modes in addition to their weapons all represent downgrades from their 40+ year-old original toys. Again, the trend should be going the opposite way, where, in every measure, the toys should be improving upon what came before. I wish they would return to the original RW microcassette scale, return to ensuring, as much as possible, that the cassette looked like a real cassette with properly placed reels and cassette deco. IMHO, KFC demonstrated some really good engineering on their Ramhorn and Steeljaw, and IMHO, both are the best toys of those characters at the original scale, better by far, IMHO, than the Fanstoys versions which I found a bit underwhelming after waiting what seemed like an eternity for them. I hope KFC will produce the rest of the cassettes at that level. However, FT actually made a really good Ravage (best version at the OG scale IMHO), but I'd like to see what KFC could do. Likewise, Dr. Wu. While some of his combiner cassettes may have had their shortcomings, I really liked what he did with Overkill and Slugfest, especially the latter which captures the cassette mode, alas sans deco, better than any of his previous efforts and yet still pulls off a really well-done Slugfest at that scale. I wish his head was on a ball joint for a little more poseability, but overall, he's so reminiscent of the G1 toys while his leg solution is an improvement. I hope he gets around to doing all the main cassette characters, especially Ravage, my favorite. Ultimately, I wish Takara and Hasbro would change their approach to the cassettes and return to the original scale along with better engineering and attention to making the cassette modes more believable, but I have no faith that that will happen, as the trend seems to oppose that direction. I'm happy for the third-party options we have, but even they fall short sometimes, alas. Still, something's better than nothing at all.- 17542 replies

Another good episode! The last two have really cranked it up from the first three, which were good-meh-good, and now very good and very good. Really liked that a lot was from Kirk's angle in this one, and we got some space battles and some wrecked ships along the way. Two things I didn't like was the cartoony look of the scavenger ship and how the number of crew on Enterprise just disappeared. They had most of Farragut's crew aboard as well as their own and Pike, La'an and Dead Redshirt Gal are seen running though almost empty corridors. Leads me to assuming their security detail consisted of just La'an and the Sacrifice. π I can only assume it's budget concerns whenever they leave the bridge (or quarters) for a populated set like the corridors. More actors (even background) equals more money. Still, liking the upward trend from the start. Much rather climbing than declining towards the season finale.

WALTON Goggins, weird name, but agreed. He's almost always my favorite character in everything he's in, Gemstones, Vice Prinicipals, Justified, Sons of Anarchy, the man is just a phenomenal talent all around, comedy or drama.

No problem. The βarmβ that attaches to the radar has two options. One is extended in a lower position for flight and the other option has it at an angle so it can be in position with just enough clearance when on the ground.

Yeah; I had that somewhere in the back of my mind about Vrlitwhai (thought his name was " Britai", from where they got the RT name "Breetai") but didn't quite flash on it. I ask because I was thinking about that fight and got the idea "What if Hikaru and gang had the VF-25 Messiah or something later like the Siegfried?" I also thought about (for the sake of argument): 1) Isamu in the YF-19 taking on a commander-type Zentraedi, and how they would fare against a "Booster Punch" (I know the YF-19 probably has greater strength than the VF-1's servos and motors). 2) A later VF in the same scenario Roy Fokker was in during DYRL, where the cockpit of Skull-1 got crushed and the chestplate torn off by Quamzin (I don't think Quamzin was a "commander-type" like Vrlitwhai, but I might be mistaken). Sorry if all of this is a little all over the place, but overall, just curious about the overall specs and structural strength of more modern valks in situations where the VF-1 got busted up.
