@tekering I’m excited to see more. One of my goals this year is to do my first FSS resin build. Currently looking around for something I like design wise and also something I can afford. I have a ton to learn and will be bugging all of you on the forum for advice.

They were “trying” to make something KEWL. But it’s not that hard to come up with something a little more logical with the design: the YF-21 blending UN Spacy and Q-Rau aesthetics and the armored VF-25S having armor that can transform with all three modes easily come to mind. And look, I get if these things are less expensive and you want something to be easy to mess with. But yeah, we can still criticize the design choices made.

Definitely looking forward to that! It'll look a little brighter after a couple matte topcoats, but panel-lining and decals have to come first... It's mostly the mold release agent, which requires a little soap or alcohol to remove... but traditional resin kits (especially Moscato's) sometimes have very smooth surfaces, and a little light sanding makes a world of difference. Even so, paint tends to pool along the edges if too much is applied, so many thin layers is best.

Nice review. I wished Habro would give us finally updated Powermasters. I would be super excited about a Commander class Powermaster Prime, Titan class Overlord, Leader class Dreadwind and Darkwing or any of the other Powermasters. Maybe I just need to go for the G1 toys but they are expensive since I would want them in their boxes since that was what was on the shelve of the toy stores when I was a kid.- 17973 replies

Thanks so much for the kind words. Keep on improving. Terror up next and then I want to get that KOG over the 7777 in the mix. ✌️ Oof! Pain! This is going to look amazing once it’s finished though. That blue is beautiful. So with resin you need to sand all or most surfaces for primer to stick? Is the surface just too slick otherwise?

Loving the Schpertor, Bruce! You continue to knock 'em out of the park. 👍 Test-fitting painted parts, removing the last of the masking tape... 🫣 Damn. 🤕 I don't think I scrubbed or sanded these resin parts enough before applying the primer. Three layers of paint peeled off in an instant! 😓

Hahahaha. The tingle…Spider sense I mean model sense. It’s so fun to rediscover lost treasures. Excited to see them finished.

Kinda looks like something Rey would see in a dehydration-induced hallucination during a sandstorm. All it needs is a sword! Kidding aside, I get that they want to produce new merch, so they need "new" designs, but I'm really sorry, the design is stupid. The AWACS idea with a radar dish is a good idea, but the wings with the blasters don't fold-away neatly enough in Diver or Soldier mode, so they just hinder movement. The jousting lance looks ridiculously out of place (not to mention horribly balanced!) And those canards... yeah, let's put those in the most awkward location possible to create massive lateral blind spots for the pilot! They could have simply redesigned the LERX to make it different, be useful, stow away neatly in Soldier AND not hinder the pilot's visibility. Also, alot of you who've been around here long enough know I'm not just talking out my a$$, because I have a reputation for back-engineering a lot of those Anime chicken scratchings into functional, physical models. Whoever did this simply wasn't trying.

General Sci-fi designs across various media
F-ZeroOne replied to M'Kyuun's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hah! Just for context, for those who may be unaware, the original Western release of the "Ghost in the Shell" manga was edited, in at least one scene, for... stuff. Don't try and look it up at work! (also, my apologies if you've heard the "Intron Depot" story before, I'm reaching the "Grandpa Simpson" stage of my personal geekdom). "Fashion" is an interesting one because it can apply to mechanical things as much as clothes etc. You can see it with 80s mecha designs, where the somewhat slimmer early to mid 80s mecha designs kinda give way to the "muscle car" mecha designs of things like "Gundam ZZ". And as has been said, some things are almost eternal; the original AV-98 Ingram from "Patlabor" still mostly holds up today and probably still will twenty years from now. After all, in the future... who knows? On the subject of BGCs "Linna", having recently rewatched the series (again!) one thing I was surprised by is despite all Priss grabbing all the attention, its actually Linna who probably kicks the most ars... posterior! -
Yeah, at this point the thread should be renamed from What Will Hasegawa do Next to What Did HLJ do Now

Yeah...adding an additional set of tailfins to the front kinda feels like something AI would do.

Ah yes. In hindsight the context clues are obvious. "Hasegawa Death Stranding kit," oof.

I went into the basement today and looked at my never ending stash and had that tingling. That tingling you get in your fingers when you want to build something. So I touched the boxes and was like … wait a second. I went upstairs without a box and checked the top of my shelf. There are still three kits that are in the works and need finishing. “okay mister; no new kits until theseいう are done.“ is what I said to myself. So yeah, these still need finishing. I can get an easy win with the F-14. It only needs decals and then done. I decided to not add ordnance. I`d never be fully satisfied no matter how I do it. The VF-171 needs masking and then airbrushing metal and black highlights. After that decals. The VF-1 needs priming. So I did that. Primed most of the VF-1 parts today. I will be adding decals to the F-14 later today. Wish me luck Edit: I just saw a weird brown box saying „RC Boat“. I was intrigued … looked inside. Another forgotten project discovered again. Well … I obviously get distracted easily. Another one to finish then.

There is always some or lots of toys that when you were a kid you didn't have the opportunity to have cause several reasons, for me G1 Grimlock is one of those toys so I put down my Preorder immediately, there is something about that golden chrome and design that make it look so classic and timeless, literally all the G1 dinobots have this original awesome classic look, I hope they release each one of them, I will be happy to POd all of them like this one, and yes a re-release of MP Grimlock or MPG I would be so happy to POd as well- 17973 replies

This movie looks like it was made for streaming. The story (so far) is copied from Avatar but with that childish twist so as not to scare the kids. Hopefully it won't flop, even though it looks like it will.

Thanks! It's definitely a series that grows on you... If you think that Takara had a 20 year span on their 1/24 V.O.T.O.M's Line, and they don't really have much to show for it! They basically got stuck in a Doggy dog world and did some fantasy re-coulours and changed a couple of parts here and there but that was it, For Bandai the are getting close to the two year mark with six releases and only one repeated unit, but the future is really brisk with the 3 new Mechs announced in December! at this pace in 20 years you'll need a new house to have room for everything 🤣 It's the diversity of mechs where Bandai is already in the lead at this scale! 😉
