    Yeah, I don't recall the brand, but the price was $699 - that deal was solid. If you're not opposed to refurb GPU's, Microcenter has fantastic deals on high quality refurbs. I know refurb GPUs get bad press, but MC does a good job of giving you peace of mind with decent return policies. You might be able to save a little green and hit your use case. Of course YMMV on what's in stock, but don't overlook them if you're amenable to it.

    Well, at least my Maia Alpha fighter isn't alone anymore. I wanted to see if I could match the paint used on the MPC with my Poseable Alpha... sadly it worked until it didn't. I had initially nailed the colors, that purplish/lavender color is Purple, Rose pink, a dash of red and some midnight blue all mixed up. The daker shade is Navy blue, black and a dash of purple. Everything looked great until I applied some clear-coat, I knew it might darken things a bit, but that purple is darker than I wanted it to be... #%$@! In the end, this old Alpha Poseable served as a test bed for A) could I match the colors, B) could I make the air-intakes look like a Shadow type and C) is this worth trying again on a Beta or another poseable Alpha. The answer is yes, only next time with an airbrush, properly made decals, Tamiya/Mr. Hobby paints and something other than clear-coat or just be really careful next time in the future. @nightmareB4macross That custom VF-1S keeps getting more impressive with each new addition.

    I believe my heavy weathering Robo Dou just arrived at my house... Looking forward to it. I love a dirty scopedog, that was my favorite 1/12 release also... But that's probably because it was the only one that didn't break!

    Oh yeah, that was really cool. Even if I have thematic gripes. I've said before I don't see Megatron as a STEALTH bomber. He wants you to know he's coming, and know there's not a dang thing you can do to stop him. Less B-2, more B-1. ... I'd make him an XB-70, but that's reserved because I still want the Valkyrie to be Silverbolt some day.

    As it turns out, not that much. 😉 The rifle is a place holder (stolen from another mecha game) until I can find or make something better, but I think it fits for now. And, as is only fitting for a formal "ending" to a project, I splashed a new coat of paint on the thing to make it look more like a Macross plane. I think the bright colors actually help it pull together some, but your mileage may vary. I'll update the files in the link I posted before to make at least the base model available. Hope others can have fun and find some use for it!

    Man, I am so sorry. This morning, Amazon had some 5070tis at a fantastic price as part of an early black Friday deal, but I just checked and they're all gone. It was close enough in price to Microcenter's 9070xt's to where I would've recommended jumping it 5070ti immediately.

    I have lost all hope about building a new pc. I am going to Micro center tomorrow just to get a 9070xt in the hope that I might get a deal on ram during BF/CM. If it doesn't pan out I can return the video card. I will go with the $600 powercolor model. With prices going up my budget is just too constrained. I am scared of a prebuilt. 1 year warranty is a joke. Bad psu's and lousy ram.

    Funny, now that you mention it, i still really like my 1/65 versions too. They're so simple and nice. And infinitely swoosh able. There's some nostalgia there too.

    The CG in the show is quite spotty, but somehow, still works? Like, it's not great, but I can accept it because of the performances and the whole surreal nightmare reality-warp thing IT can do. Very solid last episode, for anyone that has read the book, and King's other work, it's been pretty fun to watch and catch easter eggs here and there, Dark Tower, The Shining, Shawshank, etc.

    Bandai's goal is to amortize as much of the VF-171 tooling as possible, which is why their VF-17 looks lanky instead of beefy as it should, so I absolutely doubt they will make any changes at all to address any of the criticisms levied on their rendition, be it for the upcoming S variant or a future D version; although, it would be funny if they did. Just consider Bandai's contemporary interpretation as a design reimagining/retcon instead of an honest attempt -- like their original chunky or Yamato's -- at a faithful representation.

    I'm with you. While this more or less matches what I had in mind, it's not super exciting to look at, but it's good enough for now I think. Like I said, once I complete the rest of the model, I'll probably revisit and see if I can come with anything better. Or, who knows, maybe someone else will come up with something in the meanwhile. 😁
