  2. Wanted to share another item from the extreme-rare category of Mospeada history, the Cutaway series. Around 2001 I picked up this Cutaway Armo-Soldier cel from Mandarake Torrance, it was $500 at the time which was a LOT of money. This was the original Cel created by Artmic, and it is large! Here it is from a pic I took back in 2001 with my Macross VO cdrom for comparison About 10 years ago it was part of a trade to another member here on the board. Flipping up the corner to take a peek, its hand painted! Flash Forward 25 years later, another Cutaway pic showed up on Yahoo Japan Auctions this week, the Armo-Fighter mode cel! 804,098 yen later, it is was secured for the same person I traded the Soldier mode to, and will be in transit soon. That is a FAR cry from the measly $500 from 2 decades ago!! When it arrives I'll make sure to get some detailed pics to share The seller did the same 'peek' As far as I know, there are just 2 more in this Cutaway series, the Mospeada bikes in both modes. Here are the pics of these from the Artmic Design book from the 80's Its crazy to know exactly where 50% of these assets are 40 years later! Shawn

  5. Hi all! It has been a whiles since I have been on MWF. My husband just bought this ( https://www.blancpain.com/en/villeret/villeret-ultraplate-6651-2987-55b ) ....(sigh)... so I feel justified in splurging for a valkyrie! Has anything come out recently worth getting? Or any pre-release that looks particularly good? The last Macross toy I bought was the DX Chogokin VF-31J Super Siegfried (Hayate Immelmann Custom) Revival Version from AmiAmi back in late September, 2024. Any buying suggestions would be greating appreciated. Thanks! -Shizuka the Ph.D. Cat P.S. My Toynami 1/100 valkyries have been sacrificed to my daughter and the cats. R.I.P. Toynami valkyries.

  7. Cat's Eye... groan.
  8. Would have been cool to get these as a kid and place them into a shirt or jacket.
  9. It's not your typical PREDATOR film but it looks like a great sci-fi flick altogether. Sign me up!
  10. We just started watching The Righteous Gemstones on HBO Max. Very Danny McBride (of course!) but still very entertaining!
  11. Nice articulation there @nightmareB4macross. Always liked Milia's red scheme fighters, and that is looking great @SteveTheFish. And cool looking F-15 @derex3592. And I also have one of those Cat's Eyes, also languishing incomplete after a canopy mishap. Will be nice to see yours done.
  12. Nice, I've got that waiting in my HLJ warehouse, was waiting until I get back from vacation (and for the tan VF-171 to arrive)
  13. Wow it's been three weeks... I've been busy printing and working out most of the logistics. The Bay Doors took up most of the time for printing (about 36+ pairs). I should have the first 24 sets ready by the end of the week. I have batches of all the other parts for the project but not enough room to lay them out. Will be posting more updates as the week progresses.

    1/55's revisited

I’ll watch pretty much anything 1/55, but I bounced - with hate in my heart - as soon as I heard the AI.
  15. WTF bandai??? From the looks of the clip, it's not even that it's loose. The hip clip can't even reach its locking position so it just springs back... It basically doesn't even transform. Now I'm worried about mine, but I haven't got in stock notice yet. Classic YYK delays I guess, so I get to wait around and see if there's anything to do about it.
  16. @derex3592 Wow, that came out so nice. I really like the light panel lines. I have been curious about when to go light and this is a great example and works. What is that other aircraft in the photos? Also can’t wait to see that Moscato! edit* just looked up cats eye lol it’s the aircraft you posted hahahaha β€œface palm” @SteveTheFish Looks great!
  17. We've had this discussion before--our experiences in that realm clearly vary--and I'm inclined to cede the point about the mid-2000s. The PMC you want are the ones that makes the least noise. If they're in business and you don't hear about them, they're doing a good job. I would also point out that, in the Macross universe, there is a driving need for these massively well-armed PMCs as there are still huge fleets of Zentraedi still out there, doing their thing. These PMCs may have been hired by a backwater colony or otherwise not on the NUNS' radars--they could be the only thing holding the line until NUNS (or whomever) comes riding over the hill to save the day. The real world is both far too boring and far more frightening. I prefer my nightmares to come from the remnants of a galaxy wide war that wipe out 99% or humanity. So yeah, why not this?
  18. Any Blassty lovers left? I just finished the great PLAMAX kit.
  19. The amount of power private corporations wield in the Macross universe is frankly terrifying. SMS has a fleet of Macross class warships that it fielded in the final movie that wasn't acting on behest of the government, but just protecting it's own assets (granted, the needs of the government kinda overlapped, but that was largely incidental). Even as cash strapped as Xaos is in Delta, they still have at least three Elysion class ships. That would have been more than enough to take over the Brisninger Cluster by force (at least for a little while) if they so chose. What happens when the Macross equivalent of Amazon or Google decides they don't like the competition in some out of the way outpost? I'm sure the NUNS can mount an adequate response, but they still have to A) know about the incident, and B) be able to mobilize to its location by which time the damage is done. And if a few of these incidents pop up together, I think it wouldn't be long before NUNS is overwhelmed and a shooting war between corporate entities for commercial/territorial dominance is off and running. Whether Macross's creators think favorably or unfavorably about PMC's, the world they've imagined has let that genie out of the bottle and given it steroids, where it ends is scary to think about.
  20. Academy F-15 E Strike Eagle πŸ¦… completed. Great kit. No fit issues. Highly recommended. Overall I'm pretty happy with how it came out. First time I tried a light color wash on a dark plane to pop out all the great surface details. I overdid the blend coat a bit right at the end and I shouldn't have put the bomb ordinance on until after the blend coat. I also should have masked off my engines so the flat coat didn't matte them down quite so much, but I am particularly proud of how good the canopy sealing and masking turned out! No overspray got inside and lines are tight! At this point it's time to STOP new kit construction and focus on kits that were started but never completed over the last few years due to life happening. The next project will be one familiar to long time readers here... It's time to finally finish off.. John Moscato's 1:72 Cat's Eye 🐈 πŸ‘οΈ! This kit has lanquished faaaaar to long in the closet after several bad painting mishaps years ago. Time to get back to a little actual Macross modeling! 😁 Stay tuned!

    1/55's revisited

Awesome work. That must be one of the most comprehensively modified 1/55s in existence! I'm particularly impressed by the completely novel hip joint nesting in what looks like a slide-open nose blister, and the integrated intake covers and toe extension, but that's hardly even scratching the surface. Good show man.
