Bolt Posted March 17 Posted March 17 So, another Mortal Combat..is this connected, aside from name, to any of the others? Or stand alone.?

It's a direct sequel to the 2021 reboot film. Wish they would've done Johnny in the first film, fish out of water works perfectly for him, instead of some random, made-up, not in the game descendant of Scorpion with literal plot armor as a power. I liked the 2021 film, definitely in for this one too, FINISH HIM!

TangledThorns Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Karl Urban looks de-aged in that photo or is it Hollywood make up... or lack of Butcher's beard that makes him look younger?? lol

Yeah I didn't mind it, main thing I hated was the tournament itself wasn't a thing, that was sequel bait, and the new main character, who isn't from the games at all and was totally original, was really boring and unnecessary.
Mog Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Lewis Tan was so much more interesting as a douche-bag, snobby villain in Cobra Kai. And is it just me, or does Karl Urban seem just a smidge too long in the tooth to play Johnny Cage?

To be fair, in one of the reboot continuities Johnny was an aging actor with fewer and fewer opportunities, he was definitely older, they seem to be taking that angle with Karl here.

TangledThorns Posted July 16 Posted July 16 (edited) Good teaser, lol. Just realized its very Kung Fury too. Edited July 16 by TangledThorns
Seto Kaiba Posted July 16 Posted July 16 If only the entire film were that campy, I might actually go and see in the theater. The worst thing they could possibly do with a Mortal Kombat movie would be try to take its premise seriously.
Big s Posted July 16 Posted July 16 I’d watch Uncaged Fury. Probably would wait for streaming on a new Immoral Wombat movie though

Tking22 Posted July 17 Posted July 17 Looks awesome, I enjoyed the first one overall so I'm absolutely in! Also, my buddy did stunt work on this, he doubled for Raiden and Liu Kang, gonna be cool to see his in a few shots like I did with Brave New World.
Mommar Posted July 18 Posted July 18 I didn't give a crap about the last one or this one. ...I think Karl Urban sold me.
Tking22 Posted July 18 Posted July 18 I really enjoyed the first film, main issue was making a new, original character the protagonist, Cole sucked and half his story was Johnny Cage anyway, Cage should've been the "fish out of water" main character in the first film. Love the cast, still looking great, MK is my fighting game series so I'm in for a theater viewing for sure.
Thom Posted July 18 Posted July 18 I was going to put a huge YAWN gif on this... but what?! Urban is in this? Okay, awesome!

I really didn’t care much about the first movie. I didn’t hate, just felt meh about it. Might check this one out though
