Personally, I still don't think it looks that good -- the design, not Zubique's execution which is incredible--, but having it in context gives it validity. Have to finish with weapon pods, wheels, airbrakes and exhausts painting. That MIG-29 is frakking sweet looking, and the canards.... very nice touch!! Keep up the great work. Wheels from kit are terrible so will go to local shop tomorrow for custom wheels for mig-29 and will finish them. Hope to finish all works tomorrow and then will make a good photosession of details and whole model. That MIG-29 is frakking sweet looking, and the canards.... very nice touch!! Ron, is that the 1/100 kit? Yeah, it is the Bandai 1/100 model kit. Not a bad kit to put together, but it takes a lot of masking and paint of parts due to the way you have to put it together. I wish Bandai would just redesign this kit in 1/72 scale with modern fitting for the parts like their VF-25 kits. Also, I would like to have a regular kit without the fast pack. MechTech Posted September 16, 2012 Share Posted September 16, 2012 Nice work guys! I love the PS3 vault, the Mig and the VF-2SS. We could use some today to get rid of the pesky reporters!!! I've been working on the tools for my workbench to resolve some issues. I also have NO BUDGET! I mill a lot with my drill press and an X-Y table. The drill press has no threaded up-down on it so it's all micro-adjusting by hand. That takes multiple attempts and hurts the eyes. So I got some threaded rod, a skateboard bearing, handle parts, an old motor can and some threaded "T" nuts to make what you see. Then there is the issue of cutting tiny styrene pieces cleanly the first time and getting the angle right. So I got parts from a busted up hard drive, a razor blade, and some .080" styrene to make a cutter. The last bunch of parts you see are "Rotary Table MkII." I need to be able to precisely spin a styrene rod or piece around to mill it. So I took an old drill, a busted up VCR head, and spare parts from "stuff." I'll post a photo when it's done. That's a resin kit of the fighter, with SAP add-on. I bought it some time ago on (sorry there is publicity here) on the e2046.com website. Not builded it yet (sorry for the bad english, if any). derex3592 Posted September 20, 2012 Share Posted September 20, 2012 Chewie says the Falcon is ready for takeoff...Docking Bay 94! IT'S FINISHED! . ..after 8 1/2 months. Fun kit actually, the cockpit was the hardest part really. One slight seam to fill behind clear part. (Here's a tip--don't EVER get Tamiya putty on clear plastic--you've been warned!) All other parts fit like a dream. 0 putty used on the rest of the model. The PE engine grills and resin fans are also a challenge..IF I had it to do over..I wouldn't bother with them..the parts FM includes are identical to what is used on the 32" Studio Scale, so they are more accurate. Also...full disclosure...I wussed out and didn't paint chip or "=" sign the bottom...sue me, ... If anybody who has one of these in their closet has any other questions, PM me... What was the base white/grey did you use on that? I have the same photoetched grills and resin fans - it looks great in your photos because you can just make out the fan underneath and it gives great depth. What did you mean by it wasn't worth it? What was the hardest part about fitting those in? Did you paint the interior fan black first, then the grills the light grey and weather over the entire thing with the burnt streaks? This is my "easy, take a break kit" after the Falcon..The Capn's very limited MOSPEADA Ikazuchi carrier/mini Garfish/Invid Clam Ship Resin Kit...Got it cleaned up, primed, sanded and gave it a base coat of Tamiya Neutral Grey today. There are 2 paint schemes I found pics of around the net..I'm goin with this one..This is only my 2nd resin kit..so I hope I do it up right!
