Battlestar Galactica Discussion III

She said she had sent a transmission to them and let them know she was coming, of course I believe she said this after they landed and looked out to see the four of them watching her.

It may be the four that are activated? Or she may not know that D is still alive... each of the other four were on New Caprica, but D was not, so asking if D is still alive would give her identity away.

She could've also been lying... damn show makes me think too much :)

How? If that was the case, D'anna would have said that there were five in the fleet, not four.

D'anna was boxed long after the exodus from New Caprica, when all of the survivors from the human race were consolidated into one group again. Also, she would have no way of knowing if any of the final five cylons that were revealed to her were killed during the time she was boxed.

As shown by her concern during the standoff with Lee, I think this was too important to her to lie about. When she said that there were only four in the fleet, she meant it, which means that either 1) she was aware that the fifth was on the base star with her, or 2) there's something extra-special about the fifth (like they're being kept in some other storage facility that's never been mentioned or they exist as something non-corporeal or something else).

Option #2 is much less satisfying. I don't like it when writers keep dumping in additional backstory to delay revelations that they've been promising. "Oh, yeah, what we didn't tell you is that there's something even _more_ different about that final cylon, because they can exist in vacuum and it's just been walking around on Galactica's hull for three years."

So, my top three candidates as of now:

- Baltar

- Roslyn (D'anna never really recanted what she said about her being a cylon.)

- The base star's Hybrid (this one would really be out of left field)

Good points... however, i just can't see anyone on the baseship being the fifth:

Baltar: Too obvious and he *is* the definition of an imperfect, selfish human.

Roslyn: Personally, I think that would be way too cheeky for the writers to try and pull off... oh look, here's the last cylon AND she's been in charge of humanity for the last 3 yrs!

Helo: please no... less Helo is good Helo.

Note that all three are also in the last supper pic and Moore has said that the last cyclon is not in this pic.

All others on the baseship: none have done anything significant in 3+ yrs. It would be offensive to drop one of these folks into our lap as the fifth.

Dualla is also missing from the last supper pic and would be sitting between Tigh and Lee... she spent the last episode with one or both. I still think its her and she's been "aware" of her true self for a long time (back when the centurions boarded galactica).

Something else that's been bugging me about her: back on New Caprica, she spotted the Cyclon fleet on Dradis and Lee asked her how she could see anything on the screen. Is it possible that she sensed them?

I'm really not considering comments from the producer about a photo shoot for an entertainment magazine. If he was talking about the symbolism of Tricia Helfer's Playboy pictorial would you assign as much importance to it?

She posed for Playboy??

I'll say it again, unless Moore was lying out his ass every time he was asked the question, no one in the picture if the Final Cylon. And going be the reactions of some of the cast when they found out who the person was, I am going to assume its someone we generally would not suspect.

Question: Hase D'Anna ever met/seen Dee? Who was her escort when she did her little expose' aboard the big-G? If she never saw/met Dee then she might assume that the fifth, if it is Dee, is not in the fleet.

She did meet Dee in her report. She interviewed her.

And I'll ask again, do you have a list of characters who aren't in that photo and who are on the base star with D'anna when she said that only four were in the fleet?

I'm watching the mini-series again since, well, since it first aired. I have discovered who the final Cylon is. Someone we have all forgotten about, and someone who was very close to one of the final four and to a number Eight. I'm talking about:

Because Moore has always been 100% forthcoming about things and never ever ever tries to throw the fans off...ever.

My money is someone on that Basestar, regardless of that damned last supper fodder.

I see countless theories about Dee or Gaeta, ffs these characters have been all but phased out, especially Dee. Most people didn't care about them before, and they have become even less important now.

That photo was a nice piece of advertising, Ron didn't even come up with the idea. They shot dozens of different versions with different cast members on some as well.

LOL, I joked about that in February

Heh, now that I look back, I think I remember that post. :)

It's just that when you view the mini-series again, it feels like the character was intended for more involvement in the show. The wiki link even lists all the deleted scenes he's been in.

Plus he kind of even looks mechanical. ^_^

I think you're just saying it again to boost your post count.

Good idea. ^_^

Off topic a bit, but Tricia Helfer = nice cans. :p No wonder Baltar was so quick to spew (no pun intended) military secrets. Much like Priss was in Blade Runner, the Six model Cylon must have been designed as an infiltration/sex type version.

Duke mentioned this before briefly, but after watching the mid-season finale again, I can't help but think Ronald Moore sure has been taking a LOT of notes from SDF Macross and DYRL!

Let's take a look:

The main characters finally end up on Earth -- which ends up being a devastated wasteland, much to their shock and horror. You could also argue this was Planet of the Apes-ish, as well.

The heroes form a desperate alliance with their bitter enemies (a small faction of rebels from a much larger enemy force) for a common goal. They even teamed up to destroy the enemy fleet's (re)production factory (straight out of SDF Macross) to prove loyalty. But beware, the larger enemy fleet is still out there. Dun dun DUN!

An ancient song that "transcends time and space" was the catalyst to all of this.

One of our trusty pilots (Helo/Max) weds and beds an enemy (Athena/Millia), and said enemy chick fights on the heroes' side...in their planes! With only some/little suspicion! They even have a kid together, proving that our genetics are compatible.

The opera house visions/temples/scriptures/whatnot are similar to the Protoculture ruins left on Earth that Misa discovers. I won't be surprised if they stumble on some broadcast or writings from the previous residents of the planet that tie their (Earthlings/Colonials/Cylons) genetic origins together (Protoculture = final five?).

And now what happens? Do our two races work together to rebuild the broken planet (SDF)? Do they revert to their old fightin' ways (Zentradi/Earth relations after Space War 1)? Since humanity's population is devastated, do we attempt to colonize the galaxy with our new Cylon/human clone population (Megaroad class colony fleets)? Will Starbuck discover the power of anima spiritia within her? ;P Will Bob Dylan's ancient lyrics be the key to unlocking the mystery? Tune in in 2009 - the year the SDF-1 Macross took its maiden voyage! :p

Of course, BSG is known for its darkness, so I doubt things go so honky dory. I am fully prepared to have my mind blown, but so far "this has all happened before," indeed.

...and, of course, don't forget BreeTigh!!

hehe. seeing as that the BSG crew is bound to find some evidence of the 13th tribe landing on earth, then we're bound to see the original ship that carried them there. underwater, perhaps? :)

hey, if that 13th tribe ship is indeed underwater somehere, and it rises to the surface because "it detected the signatures of the 12 fleets' vessels", then we know where this is going. most probably by that time, BSG would have found some survivors of post-apocalyptic earth who have no idea about their extra-terrestrial origins. :)

starbuck as the anima spiritia!! haha, now that would be kooky. but in a sense, she already is. not anima spiritia per se, but someone who has some kind of special power in her that will revive humanity or something. :D

so....that being said... basara is the final cylon!!! :p

“I just heard about the first Battlestar movie being greenlit,” Grace Park tells the Los Angeles Times in a story dated June 28. “It's supposed to start in August.”

The August start assumes that the Screen Actors Guild is not on strike at the time. The guild’s contract with the Association of Motion Picture and Television Producers expires Monday.

The movie is widely expected to be, like last year’s “Razor” TV-movie, set before the events of next year’s “Battlestar Galactica” series finale. Many expect the movie could air on SciFi this autumn, before the next year's final 11 hours of the regular series.

As many as three new “Galactica” movies have reportedly been discussed.

Principal photography on the series finale, hitting the SciFi Channel next year, was expected to be completed before the SAG contract expires.

“There's one episode where everything is explained and I had to read it three times,” Park told the Times. “I had to sit down with [executive producer] Ron Moore and he had to break it down.”

Park apparently let the news slip while promoting her role in another cable series, “The Cleaner,” which premieres July 15.

To Kaitheforsaken, Fatalist, Uminoken, and Mog...

Since our "Guess the Final Cylon" pool has been postponed till next season, which means next year, I've been circling and circling the Diamond Select statues

Well there's an Awesome Deal at Action Figure Xpress where you can get both for $164.99

That's like 85 bucks off the price if you bought them individually and at normal price.

So I pulled the trigger ^_^

Even More TV Movie News

Hi folks...I'm fresh back from my lovely Maine vacation and had to post some updated info from Sitrep sources regarding the first BATTLESTAR GALACTICA TV Movie.

The first of a possible three films is now in development. The studio has reportedly offered a deal to Dean Stockwell, and is interested in making deals with Michael Trucco, Aaron Douglas, Grace Park, Michael Hogan and Katee Sackhoff, among others, for this film.

Jane Espenson will write the script, and as we said recently, Edward James Olmos will be directing.

And that pretty much ensures the TV movie will be pure awesome and win (at least in the character development front; I've yet to see an action scene directed by Olmos, but if his influence in his action scenes are anything to go by, they will be gritty and oh-so-bloody).
