  1. Actually this has been bugging me for quite a while now. If the movie is really going to be focused on the space jockey, I question how they could possibly create any sort of emotional investment in it on the part of the audience when the space jockey itself is a giant freakish monster.
  2. Another thing that really bothers me is that amongst the considerable number of porn doujins Macross Frontier has generated, I've yet to see a single good Grace tentical rape doujin. what the hell? The show itself totally sets up for that to happen but nobodies done anything with it yet.
  3. The thing is the VF-27 better than the VF-25 in every way AND is evil. They need a better Mech for the hero to use so he's not totally outclasses by the bad guys.
  4. yeah, from what I've seen of the Scifi line, the paint work is excellent for a figure of their size/price.
  5. This looks more like a bad made-for-TV movie from the late 90's than an "EPIC TELEVISION SERIES."
  6. I'm just going to come right out and say it... I find this to be quite underwhelming. All of the fine detail, construction and complexity are impressive; but it looks so incredibly bland as a whole. There's just so much bare plastic (and I really dislike the plastic finish Macross toys from Yamato have), it doesn't feel like a $300+ TOY; it feels like it's a nicely detailed model that they didn't bother to paint. I think the problem is that my personal tastes in toys don't quite line up with the products Yamato chooses to make more than anything else. To me surface finish and painted detail is worth more than all the fine sculpted detail and complex engineering in the world. Even though they're not nearly as detailed as the Yamato figure, I actually prefer the WAVE SDF-1 or the Macross Quarter, as I find the paint and glossy plastic to be far more visually impressive when viewed from any reasonable distance. Perhaps I'm the only person who feels this way, but the 1/3000 SDF-1 would really have been more appealing if it was released as an unpainted, unassembled kit for about $150~$200. The actual parts that make it up definitely look like they're worth that much, but I don't see an extra $100~$150 in the paint and final assembly.
  7. seconded, definitely the best Iron man that isn't over $100.
  8. I just picked one up at target this morning, very cool for what it costs. I almost picked up the 6 inch talking Clu figure with the projection face while I was there
  9. you mean this guy, which we've know about since at least February?
  10. Sope, sounds delicious.
  11. I think it's really cool looking, but that's one of the most awkward names ever.
  12. It's because Johnny Depp is a legitimately good actor, and he's funny, and his characters actually have some sort of personality. Paul Walker on the other hand is a terrible actor who ruins everything he's involved with. Personally I'm glad that Bloom and knightly are gone; everything wrong with the third film is directly attributable to their characters. Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush are all I need for a good movie. Ian McShane is a nice bonus.
  13. I'm definitely the only person in the world who feels this way, but I actually liked the Speed Racer movie. It wasn't necessarily good; but I liked how all the racing sections where Crazy, ridiculous hot wheels tracks. It mostly appealed to my inner 5 year old that was entertained by anything with fast moving objects and bright, shiny colors.
  14. Best: 1) Anime Series: Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt 2) Anime Film/OVA: Macross F. 3) Science Fiction Film: TRON Legacy 4) Animated film: Despicable me/Toy story 3 (tie) 5) TV Series: Fring/Hawaii 5-0/Warehouse 13 6) PC/Video Game: Bioshock 2
  15. For a deluxe size toy it's not that bad actually. (ignoring the giant shoulder tanks, which are probably removable or at least able to swing around to the back where you don't have to look a them.)
  16. He's also the guy who post on every web forum he belongs to IN ALL CAPS SO IT LOOKS LIKE HE'S CONSTANTLY YELLING. And I get the feeling he's got some sort of creepy man-crush on you Seto, considering how much he likes to talk about you and your evil, nefarious ways.
  17. speaking of padding, did he seriously come up with two and a half hours of stuff to talk about relating to that one picture you posted? (I'm not going to listen to find out, I'm too afraid for what little sanity I have left.)
  18. I'm still holding out hope that this is will turn out to be foreshadowing for a sequel. This one left plenty of room for a TR3N, and I'd love to see him as a villain there.
  19. I feel kind of bad about mine. It's small and crowded on a tiny makeshift space, just like everything else in my life. IMG_1051 by anime52k8@sbcglobal.net, on Flickr
