  1. I'd love to here your reasoning, really I would. A powerful laser will be able to kill targets at tens and even hundreds of thousands of kilometers distance with zero perceptible delay between firing and impact. there's no way a maned fighter craft could possibly avoid being shot down long enough to close the massive distances in space needed for them to become effective (without killing the pilot). Also, given the huge distances one needs to cover in deep space it's highly impractical, if not impossible, to equip small craft with sufficient propulsion and life support to make those kinds of trips. In fact the only situation in which craft the size of modern fighters would be useful in space would be within the orbit of planets, where you still couldn't effectively maneuver because of gravity. The fact of the matter is, excluding unlimited technological developments/technologies and materials beyond are current understandings of science, small craft the size of modern jet aircraft that zip around having dog fights within visual range will never be practical in deep space. So yeah, space fighters are impractical and only exist in fiction because they look cool. The YF-29 doesn't look cool so it has no reason to exist.
  2. Technically the Javelin can already engage aircraft of the slow, low flying variety.
  3. he doesn't look too bad by the guys in the background look hilarious. Then again this kind of stuff tends to look better in film than it does in stills so I'll wait for the trailer.
  4. $165 shipped for the USA 1st model... why can't I save money? T_T
  5. do I want to get an SV-51 or an Ingram? ugh I've been trying not to buy more toys but they're making it really hard
  6. The official stats for the SV-51 describe them as "R-33D Amos+ medium-range maneuvering missiles" which is a little odd in of itself as the R-33 Amos is a Long range missile of similar size and performance to the AIM-54 Phoenix missile. It could be that this "D" variant trades range for maneuverability. ...and the ability to be used as an air-to-surface missile.
  7. This movies going to be completely incomprehensible and I like it
  8. Here's an interesting thought in terms of missile capability: The SV-51, with it's 6 under wing hard points, carries a standard load of 4 micro-missile launchers with 18 missiles each and 2 medium range missiles. The VF-0 on the other hand carries a standard load of 12 medium range missiles on 4 hard points plus 2 conformal FAST packs containing 24 micro-missiles each. In this case, the SV-51 has more micro missiles in a standard load out with 72 to the VF-0's 48; but the VF-0 beats the SV-51 6-to-1 at medium range. Further, for every additional medium range missile the SV-51 carries (up to it's maximum of 6) it looses 18 of it's micro-missiles. The VF-0 on the other had can trade out 2 of it's 3-missile pylons for a set of micro-missile launchers (which carry 3 volleys of 8 for a total of 24 each) allowing it to still carry 6 medium range missiles while carrying 96 micro-missiles. Now if both planes are going to a maximum micro-missile load; the SV-51 can carry 6, 18 shot launchers for a total of 108 micro-missiles. The VF-0 can carry 4 micro-missile launchers and 2 FAST packs with 24 missiles each for a total of 144 micro-missiles. And this of course is before you start doing crazy field mods like welding extra missile launchers to the planes dorsal tanks and strapping a stripped-down drone fighter with it's own indeterminate load of missiles to the thing. So if your preferred style of combat is to missile spam (and we are talking about Macross here), the VF-0 is the better bet.
  9. That's totally what they're doing, it's just the existing leg with a bunch of panels slapped on it to hide how poorly the leg lined up with the rest of the plane in the first place.
  10. The worst part is that there's a lot of stuff that actually IS good about black ops. I like a lot of the new attachments, the custom reticule options, The crossbow I feel like the guys at Treyarch have a very specific way they like to play multiplayer, and built a game that caters just to themselves. The Game design makes it abundantly clear that there is a specific you're intended to play, and if you play that way the game is fun. But if you want to do anything else, you f*cked.
  11. This whole "realistic Zero-G dog fighting" notion is absolutely hilarious. The very notion of small craft flying out and engaging each other in close range, maneuvering fights in space is completely unrealistic; any space battle is going to consist entirely of (relatively) slow moving craft shooting high powered lasers at each other from extremely long ranges. it's slightly better but it's still physically painful to look at.
  12. The robot fist fight they had amongst low rise buildings at the end of episode 2 was a training/testing area. The Dogfight at in episode 4 was over Macross city, and that did involve high-speed window shattering fly-by's and crashing through buildings in what looks like a commercial/business district.
  13. Known about that for a while and that still doesn't fix it on mine. The problem is that the little nubs on the inside of the metal swing bars (circled in green) are too damn small and do nothing to hold the nose cone down. The closest thing to a fix I could come up with was to take a file and shave away some paint and metal behind the nub so there was enough of a groove for the nose to settle into, but it will only catch on one side at a time, so even the slightest pressure in the other direction will dislodge it.
  14. I want that book to burn in a f*cking fire.
  15. Pot, be advised you are coming up on some heavy sarcasm, over. you should be able to see it from here.
  16. The star wars prequels where terrible, Harry Potter and the Borne movies where based on successful books, and James bond Indian Jones have little to no connection between their individual movies. if they're trying to tell a continuous story over several movies it works better to do them in quick succession, the trick is they actually have to have enough story for 2 movies rather than 1 movie with a lot of padding (like the Matrix sequels.)
  17. I like how everyone's reason for picking Isamu basically boils down to, "he's the biggest dick."
  18. ?
  19. baked? he looks like he just had a f*cking stroke. also something I've just realized: if you look at whats-her-names tits, you'll notice that there's no separation between here boobs and her top. The contour of here boob just runs right into here shirt with only color separating the too. furthermore, her clothing has no wrinkles whatsoever and reflects light in the exact same way as here skin. This can only mean one thing: That's really just body paint, and she's completely naked. Also she has no nipples.
  20. mmm... Delicious Disk Sensor
  21. yeah, gunpla aren't REAL model kits, GET OUT YOU HEATHEN!!! OUT, OUT!!!
