I do really feel bad for anyone that bought the previous release that didn’t include the waterslide decals. That was the major thing that had me holding back on the plamax version. mad far as work on the hasegawa, there’s a lot . Seams, light panels that sometimes aren’t all the way there are the big issues, but if there’s a design I like, I don’t mind putting in a little work. I think the big thing on choosing one company over another for me is consistency. The hasegawa has a very realistic look that is consistent with all modes of their vf-1. While the plamax is more anime inspired and simplified in its design. I’m getting the rerelease of the vf-1 and the battroid and seeing how I like the line from there, but so far the battroid pictures look amazing as far as having that look straight out of the intro. The hasegawa Battroid always kinda felt like it was almost there, but the joints and construction are the draw back for me. The hasegawa battroid just kinda felt like the best of what was available at the time it came out and hasegawa was very new at mecha kits at the time. Even with the updates it seems a bit outdated as far as articulation goes, but if treated more as a static kit it is impressive. I’m more interested in the plamax personally, but they still haven’t announced a gerwalk mode kit and made the odd choice of doing movie fighter modes but a tv battroid. The decision making with plamax is a bit off, but going by the care they’ve been giving to their Dougram line of kits it gives me confidence that most of if not all on screen VF -1 variants and modes will happen. But I kinda doubt you’ll ever see as many variants as hasegawa has done. Currently as far as 1/72 kits, I’m probably gonna opt for displaying the Plamax VF-1’s, the Hasegawa zentraedi kits and wave destroids. Oddly I think the destroids look odd with the hasegawa Valkyrie kits due to the rivets, but the regults have more of an anime feel that fells more at home with the wave and plamax stuff.

I still think that Max Factory kinda squashed my interest in Hasegawa Battroid kits. The new joints didn’t seem to add much from what they’ve shown here.
-
They sent them all to the U.S. apparently since they’re at all the stores here including some of the brick and mortar shops.

I get what you’re saying, like if I hold an old 90’s poster up to her, but I guarantee you that she would probably get an extreme backlash that would put the whole project in jeopardy.

I think that if you really like the plamax battroid, then their fighter would probably make a better match to go with it. If you’re trying for a multi mode display, you might consider waiting for a 1 j fighter

Definitely a nice display -
I’m the exact opposite. I usually don’t like the clown paint jobs and have always been a bad guy fan. Vader from og Starwars or Cobra from GI Joe or Skeletor from He Man or Zeon from Gundam. I’m a bit down the middle with Macross though.
-
All the zeon inspired stuff is mostly rounded. In Hathaway, it’s on the messer types. On unicorn it’s on the all neo zeon sleeves mecha, there’s a few in ibo for example
-
They may have been a failure in Macross, but a secret win for gundam. All joking aside, I’m surprised they still use round hands on a good amount of designs from that series
-
I believe that they are planning more than just this 1j. They have plans shown for movie options for other models. If this isn’t the one you want a movie 1a or1s might be worth waiting for.

I’m ok with 1/144

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, in theaters summer 2023
Big s replied to Duke Togo's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
IGN is usually pretty soft on movie reviews, so this isn’t a good sign. Then again it is a Disney movie and they’ve been kinda dropping the ball lately, so I’m pretty sure it’s another skippable movie- 355 replies

Isn’t that the sr III that was up for po. There are color pics on the previous page

It sucks too that the Regults are so easy to get, yet I’ve only seen the Defender at Amazon, but At almost double price. Keep checking and maybe it will turn up at a less common site

Supposedly Fleabag takes the hat. They were planning a series around her. From other things I’ve heard is that Mutt got killed offscreen after getting drafted. He didn’t really seem interested in another franchise character and has pretty much talked crap about his character in Indy. He likes doing hit and mostly miss art film type characters more these days, but maybe he’ll need some cash and come back somehow. The one thing I know for sure is this is the first Indy movie that I just don’t feel excited for. There’s gotta be some really great word of mouth for me to care enough not to wait for it’s release on D+- 355 replies

I know they had the Tomahawk and Phalanx at hobbysearch earlier this week, you could check there. I’d love to see a spartan, but I’m sort of hoping max factory gets that one. Since Hasegawa, Wave and Max Factory are all doing 1/72 classic Macross I personally think Max factory would be the best choice for a Spartan in 1/72 that not only would look like the anime but also have good articulation. I appreciate Hasegawa for their recent Regults, but they do feel a little awkward stability wise and they definitely leave areas where more work is necessary like drilling holes and scribing panel lines that were so shallow that they sometimes don’t exist near the edge of parts. Wave focused really well in the looks department, but the knees could easily have been designed for better bends on their three destroids. I was thinking that I don’t remember seeing plans for the Spartan from wave back in the day, but I do remember a 1/100 Monster that looked like it would have been pretty great in the looks department. I think the weight may have been an issue for the polycaps, but many kit companies have found great ways to have tougher joints for kits since then.

I’ve been rewatching both Futurama and Venture Bros. So glad both shows are coming back. It’s weird that these two old shows are so much more entertaining than anything new these days

Looks like it’s really coming along.

As long as it’s not marketed as an official product, I’m ok with emulating games after a time, especially if they’re un available.

I might have to check it out. Reminds me of AI crossed with blade runner and some Terminator for a bit of spice

judging by pictures it looks like the pro modeler for the package just did it as a sub assembly, painted them and then put the wings and everything together. There’s a seam showing at the sides in fron of the wings that I don’t know if it’s ugly or not. But I think they just did a lazy method. I can’t decide if it’s something that would bug me or not. I’ll probably do a test fit to see how it looks and maybe decide after checking out the battroid images to see if it’s a consistent seam there
