  1. Yeah, I think that's the problem. Realistic water effects require clear resin.
  2. I certainly love my "Dibots." But I would love them a lot more in retro Hasbro packaging!
  3. I like the damage. I don't like the water.
  4. NECA uses very tight tolerances on their pegs and ball-joints. I've been doing a lot of customizing on their Planet of the Apes figures, and I find the only safe way to swap out parts is to heat the pegs (and sockets) with a hair dryer first, significantly softening up the plastic before disassembly. The area should be hot and pliable, like rubber, to avoid breakage while parts-swapping.
  5. seti88, you go to the head of the class. Shizuka the Cat, you can teach next week.
  6. Not just you, Shizuka. Now class, who can tell me what one thing all these sci-fi/fantasy characters have in common?
  7. So, do they shave the clone in the tank...? Or does the cloning process replicate facial grooming?
  8. Well, there are obviously some materials that can't be replicated... like dilithium. Or latinum.
  9. Got most of the Black Panther figures now... There are none. Unlike most BBI "Elite Force" toys, the Tomcat didn't come with figures.
  10. Well-worth it, if you have any modeling skills at all. Lookin' fine, Cap'n.

    Macross figures

My order was rejected. They won't ship to Japan.
  12. I use A/C all the time, windows are usually kept closed, and I spend very little time around my displays... and with a regular influx of new stuff, displays are updated often enough that dust isn't a significant problem. Plus, those ships are easily accessible for dusting. The 1:18 Tomcat that hangs above them, however... This one can only be accessed with a ladder, and hasn't been dusted in several years.

    Macross figures

Yes, and were posted earlier in the Model Kits section (since assembly, decals and paint are required).
  14. After Bandai's long-awaited Star Destroyer was announced -- at a disappointingly small 1:5000 scale -- I decided to get the Zvezda 1:2700 kit (distributed in the West by Revell) instead: It scales much better with the rest of the fleet. Assembly was easy, but wiring it for fiber-optics is gonna be a pain...!
  15. Yeah, that's where I got mine. Vintage Macross kits aren't great, but they're plentiful; I often buy 'em just for the decals. Panel-lining and decals are fine, but weathering means abandoning the toy aesthetic entirely... and if I weather one, I've gotta weather them all.
  16. Geez, we're really scraping the bottom of the barrel here. It's been 30 years since Matchbox, guys... "Slightly better than what we had in the '80s" just isn't gonna cut it. And why is she so much taller than Rick...?
  17. 4 head molds + 2 body molds = 5 collectible figurines.
  18. I've been following it. So far, it's been pretty harmless and irreverent, mostly because it's a self-contained environment with a small number of characters; and BB-8 is the only regular character to influence the Star Wars universe beyond the limited setting. Unlike Rebels, which focused on The Force and eventually involved the Emperor himself, Resistance has been pretty generic sci-fi stuff. It also demonstrates Disney's typical play-it-safe approach, so it's not likely to piss off the fandom... if it manages to make any impact at all.
  19. Oh man, I'd forgotten how plain the Glaug looks without decals. Awesome toy, though. One of the crown jewels of the HMR line. Good score, kkx.
  20. Sure, but the VF-1 stealth is larger and cooler, as is Yamato's low-vis grey. And they're both 1:48, to scale with the DX Chogokin. If it's a 1:60 VE-1 or a 1:48 stealth VF-1, I think the choice is clear. Plus, I can get you one here in Japan for much less than they go for online.

    Hi-Metal R

Congratulations on your first custom, Rogueload. The neck should be blue as well, though... A matte finish won't avoid chipping, especially when applied over a smooth plastic surface. You should hit every raised edge with sandpaper to roughen it up, especially where it's likely to contact another painted surface: Repainting a transformable toy can be a daunting task!
  22. You mean Jetfire?
