  1. Introducing Lewin Industries' "Atlas." Yes, "Atlas" is THAT big. 71 centimeters tall! Biggest transforming toy EVER. And rock-solid, too... This ain't no combiner, yo.

    Macross figures

Okay, so I know I'm really late to the party, and it's old news, and it's so common as to be worthless on the secondary market... but I laughed my ass off when I saw it, and I just had to buy it.
  3. AGAC? AJAX? AJAC? AGACs? This site and this site say AJACS, this site uses AGAC, this site says AGAC/AJAX, and this site uses AJAC and AGAC interchangeably. How about we drop the inconsistent acronyms and Robotech nomenclature and just use "Auroran," eh?

Heads up, guys. R2KF's re-pop of Moscato Models' "Kamujin" resin figure scales perfectly with HMR. At least, as depicted in the anime... ...as unrealistic as that may be.
  5. My Kamujin has arrived, courtesy of R2KF and Moscato Models. I intend to fully articulate the figure before painting, of course, but for now here's a quick-and-dirty assembly just to establish scale: Agreed. That's why I think he scales great with HMR... pretty much exactly the "cartoon scale" I was hoping for. He'd be hard-pressed to fit into either of those cockpits, of course, but that's the height Zentraedi soldiers were depicted at in the series... and Quamzin was supposedly taller than most Zentraedi (as fleet commanders typically were, it would seem). I just hope Bandai follows suit with their Vrlitwhai figure... if it ever sees the light of day, that is.
  6. It seems the toys have always compromised fighter mode for armor-soldier... perhaps this one does the opposite. Definitely something new and different going on with the cockpit and nosecone there.
  7. 5POA (or less) was the Star Wars standard for over 25 years. Kenner figures never cut it for you in the '80s? Hasbro made it pretty clear that they had to go back to 5POA to continue the 3 3/4” line that Kenner started oh-so-many years ago. The 6" Black Series line was meant to appeal to collectors (at a higher price point), but they kept the smaller line going for oldskool fans like us who refused to invest in a whole new scale, and I'm grateful to them for that. Especially since The Vintage Collection is back with its super-articulated figures. Now that Hasbro's back to producing higher-quality product, I'm proud to be collecting Star Wars figures again.
  8. Perhaps Hasbro's biggest failing was in marketing. I mean, you were obviously a dedicated Star Wars collector with a keen interest in specific characters, yet when two of said characters were actually released at retail, you didn't even know about it. Although I suppose if distribution had been better, you'd have found them in stores, so marketing may not have been necessary... Either way, you're right. Hasbro has no one to blame but themselves.
  9. That doesn't surprise me. I found it unwatchable after only three episodes. The character designs are pretty awful, though. Note how those breasts are constantly looming in frame. Sometimes the framing is so overtly objectifying, they cut off her head just to fill more of the screen with her breasts. And it's not even supposed to be funny.
  10. No, it was always that off-white ivory. The painted heatshield never matched the molded plastic color, even in promotional pics.
  11. Despite a missing verb or two, I understand what you're asking... Hasbro made a killing on cheap, low-quality merchandise for The Force Awakens, as retailers ordered it by the bucketloads. However, poor sales left most of it languishing on store shelves for years afterwards, and retailers forced Hasbro to downsize considerably for The Last Jedi. Action figures and vehicles for Solo have been even more thin on the ground, and less and less Star Wars merchandise is now being exported to international markets. Despite enormous box-office returns for The Last Jedi, the merchandising (where the real profits are made) has floundered, and Solo couldn't even break even at the box office... Not surprisingly, Hasbro has decided to focus on the hardcore collectors' market instead, and resurrected The Vintage Collection with super-articulated figures and Kenner-style packaging for the remainder of 2018. The basic figure line has been ignored entirely, in favor of expanding the 6" Black Series line with retailer- and event-exclusives. Even more telling, the only major vehicle release since Rogue One is being marketed Kickstarter-style, through Hasbro's subscriber-only HasLab site. Traditional retail sales channels are no longer working for Star Wars.
  12. The booster, launch rail and launch arm would be a big hit in 1:60 scale...! ...or an even bigger hit at Hi-Metal R scale, come to think of it.

Should've repainted the orange first. Now you're stuck with it.
  14. Okay, the math works out to ¥11000 ($99 USD) total per set, including EMS shipping worldwide. If that's still too expensive for Tober, Saviant or Snake Eyes, then sh9000 can claim the outstanding set.
  15. Snake Eyes, Savant, Tober and I will each cover 25% of the shipping cost to Japan, then. EMS charges will be about $20, but depend on exactly how much the individual packages weigh. I need to know the precise weight and shipping cost to Japan, so I'll PM the Captain.
  16. EMS shipping from Japan worldwide includes tracking and insurance, it's very reliable, and the rates are reasonable. I'll have Captain America send me four sets, and I can offset the shipping costs for anyone else outside of North America. I can ship you a set from Japan via EMS for $20 USD... I can ship you a set from Japan via EMS for less than $20 USD.
  17. It's the work of a tiny group of unsatisfied Robotech fans trying to expand the tiny, unsatisfying mythology of Southern Cross, and I support their efforts wholeheartedly. After all, it's better than anything Harmony Gold's done with the property in the past three decades...
  18. Stick to Japanese Macross toys, Mike. Some of them display very well with similarly-scaled Transformers. Toynami toys, however, are no better than Evolution Toy quality, and far below third-party Transformers standards we're used to. "Vritlwhai?" You mean Vrlitwhai's ship, right? Didn't your spellchecker catch that typo? Seriously, who they hell came up with those spellings, anyway?
  19. If the dialogue is any indication, that's a resounding "yes." "Piece of crud?" At least the art has significantly improved.
  20. Oh, are we still talking about the Vengeance? Good, I can spam the thread with more unsolicited Eaglemoss pics. The Aztec tampographs are significantly simplified compared to the CGI model, but still consistently and cleanly applied. As is often the case with Eaglemoss, the ship was assembled rather sloppily, requiring me to crack it open, sand down some rough seams and edges, and glue it back together properly. Definitely my favorite design of the Kelvin timeline trilogy (which isn't saying much, I realize), but the lack of hull designation markings is disappointing... I know it reflects the stealth nature of the vessel, but its distinctly Starfleet configuration cries for the usual Federation stripes and lettering.
  21. I don't think there's any question of that... especially if you have your own 3D printer. Oh, wow! Sounds like congratulations are in order!
  22. The Vintage Collection releases are usually retailer exclusives -- Target, Amazon, TRU or Walmart. The new TIE is a Walmart exclusive. You guys really are out of the loop. Amazon exclusive, 2013. Also features the new cockpit module. That ship may have already sailed, I fear. TRU exclusive, 2011... and apart from a retooled cockpit and a new paint job, it's still the same old '80s crap. Having given up hope on an accurately-proportioned Hasbro Y-Wing, I've decided to make my own: The studio-scale Galactic Resin model kit is the perfect scale for 3.75" figures. Of course, as a limited-run garage kit, it's gonna cost you several hundred dollars... if you can find one. Or there's always the Master Replicas Y-Wing, but that one runs several thousand dollars... if you can find one!
