Your Most Recent General Toy Purchase - 2024 Edition
shazam replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I have not built this one yet. That is going to be a project for tomorrow. I have had a couple of BLOKEES kits and they are a quick and easy build. I am really happy with the results. I ordered the YOLOPARK - Transformers: Rise of the Beast AMK PRO Arcee model kit which looks great in photos.- 1019 replies

Iām pretty sure it will be fairly large. The kit might not be as bulky, but maybe more parts due to weapons and extra hands.

General 1/18 Scale Figure and Toy Thread

I'd buy a BTAS Batwing, 1989 Batwing, and Batman Returns Batskiboat and Batmissile if Mezco releases them. -

With Nvidia skipping the 5000 supers this year, with the 6000 series will not even launch in 2027 and Ram prices insane with other pc parts are on the rise, here's another decent deal for anyone needing PC parts and ram for a budget build: it's for those local to a Microcenter Micro Center Bundle Hack: 7600X3D + MSI B850 Gaming Pro + 32GB DDR5 = $469.99 This open box best buy Scar 18 with a 5090 laptop was $2,500 weeks leading to black friday and the one of the best deals for a high end lappy. since there's no new nvidia refresh laptop gpu's this year, it may be worth to grab if you're into 5090 laptop it's 2700 open box but ymmv as it's been selling out regionally and might be sold out in your region. -
Canāt wait to get it in hand.

I have a feeling that if itās posed better, it will look a lot cooler than it does here. Or at least I really hope it does, because Iāve been wanting a classic Ryu action figure for decades

Is it the strips themselves, or the wiring? There's a possibility that the soldering wasn't sufficient, and that broke. Before prying the kit open: are there any kinks in the wires outside of the kit? The fix could be as easy as cutting out the damage wire and splicing in a good wire. Also, do you have a multi-meter? If so, can you check to see if you have a circuit? (Check working lights and see if similar readings appear on the broken ones).

This is the way!

Thanks, Jenius! I very much appreciate the reply.

Hopefully it doesn't end up looking so janky at the production line. The textured scarf, the ragged top, and the various nicks on the legs make the figure's weathering look contrived.

Same. I basically quit even looking at Fans Toys. Stopped one bot short of finishing their Stunticons and I sold off the Aerialbots I had. Actually, I sold most of the Fans Toys stuff I had... I think I just have their Jetfire, Insecticons, four out of five Stunticons, Scrapper (who's going to get sold), Cyclonus, Galvatron, Cliffjumper, and Springer (who's going to get sold. I toyed with the idea of getting their Optimus when they finish it, but I saw a transformation video for their Magnus and noped right out of there. I'm 100% in on MMC's Constructicons. Their Scrapper and Mixmaster are just excellent all-around figures. But, if I'm being totally honest, XTB's Scrapper has slightly better articulation than MMC's, and on a purely aesthetic level I think the robot mode looks a little better. MMC still wins on alt mode, combined mode, and the act of transforming it, but I'm very sorely tempted to pick up XTB's for a bot mode display. Only thing really holding me back right now is the total lack of space and the fact that Long Haul is impossible to come by. I'm actually planning to sell my MMC Bruticus... not because I don't like it, but because I don't really want two of the same molds. I have MMC's Ruination, so I picked up Magic Square's Bruticus. But I otherwise agree with the sentiment, I'd happily ditch DX9's Menasor and Zeta's Superion for MMC versions. Yeah, I guess on that note, if anyone's interested MMC's Bruticus (all accessories and instructions, including the toy-style upgrade kit, but without their original boxes, a stress mark on Brawl's neck, and the original loose shoulder ratchets), FT's Scrapper (complete with the box), or FT's Springer (should be complete with the box, have to double-check) let me know before I list them elsewhere.- 9471 replies

I have experience with this kind of "emergency surgery": you need to get in, but the plastic canna take the strain, kaptain!! Seriously though: one technique I've tried when having to do such surgery on a model with old plastic is to gently warm the plastic first with a hair dryer on low. That gets the plasticizers flowing a bit and should make the plastic somewhat less brittle. Then carefully trace several times along the seams until you're through (alternating between heat and cutting). A slow process, but less risky than hacking it open. Just a suggestion; I don't blame you one bit if you don't want to try for it. Just something to consider...

I was of the same thoughts. I won't touch FT stuff unless it really appeals to me, I'm not a paint/heft/heroic proportions for bots that aren't depicted that way. I will say FT is killing it with the minibots (minus Powerglide and Seaspray v1). I got an XTB Big Load and it was really nice but I already have JinBao with the pants add on and that's good enough for me for the 'bigger' MP size combiners. BUT I'm so f'ing all in on the All-In-One MMC combiners. No extra parts, every thing slots in somewhere in all modes, fun and kinda easy transformations. Once MMC gets to Superion and Menasor I'm probably/most likely going to sell off my current MP ones.- 9471 replies

@505thAirborne - Damn man, super bummed to hear that happened to the Galactica build! That has always been in the back of my mind every time I light a kit, but so far...my only two that I have done are still working great. I used brand new (but pretty cheap) LED strip lighting off Amazon and soldered all the connections myself. I turn on and off the Runabout every day at work and so far, so good....over two years in now! Over here today, sunny and 70 degrees so a LOT of priming happened this morning! I airbrushed liquid Vallejo primer thinned down with Tamiya Acrylic Thinner, worked out really well. Tomorrow, we paint ALL the TEXAS parts you see here! "May the odds be ever in your favor!" - š
