Seriously! FWIW, I solved the "improved maneuverability" issue like 20 years ago by incorporating thruster nozzles (static and dynamic) in key locations so the Legioss would have full nose-authority even at zero airspeed. Peeps gotta try harder.

Also gotta love this part of the "lore"(?). Like: you know what is super aerodynamic? A huge a** radar disk. Lol. The Omega is good re-interpretation of the Iota legioss but this one is just a complete train wreck.

Quoted from @Mog "But yeah, we can still criticize the design choices made." Oh, we will!š This is Macrossworld, after all, and not just a few of know our stuff about aircraft or transforming toys (thereof). Plus, a little nitpickery, such as the good Captain's, is kinda warranted if only to emphasize the level of derp in the design. As to "Lancer" there, everyone's toy barometer of tolerance reads differently, so if you like it, get it, be happy, and show us pics of the darned thing! Let our remarks of snark and derision be so much chewed bubblegum under your shoe- scrape us off and rejoice in your silly toy!

All football teams need their own Legioss! Fox loves their robot football player so there's precedent.

Don't be too hard on yourself tekkering; resin is notorious for doing this crap! I had a resin Ambassador-class Enterprise in the 90's (before Ertl issues theirs) that no matter how long or how many times I soaked it in bleach and hot water and scrubbed until my fingers were sore, the paint would just slip right off after drying! Krylon, rustoleum, etc for primer, none of it made a difference! Even a couple of years ago with a resin mod kit for my Ertl-issue USS Reliant, the paint had issues and smelled like mold release after extensive scrubbing and soaking in harsh chemicals.

Wow!!! I'd be interested if it was about 100x that price, but the background I don't believe is the right one. Could be wrong

@tekering Iām excited to see more. One of my goals this year is to do my first FSS resin build. Currently looking around for something I like design wise and also something I can afford. I have a ton to learn and will be bugging all of you on the forum for advice.

They were ātryingā to make something KEWL. But itās not that hard to come up with something a little more logical with the design: the YF-21 blending UN Spacy and Q-Rau aesthetics and the armored VF-25S having armor that can transform with all three modes easily come to mind. And look, I get if these things are less expensive and you want something to be easy to mess with. But yeah, we can still criticize the design choices made.

Definitely looking forward to that! It'll look a little brighter after a couple matte topcoats, but panel-lining and decals have to come first... It's mostly the mold release agent, which requires a little soap or alcohol to remove... but traditional resin kits (especially Moscato's) sometimes have very smooth surfaces, and a little light sanding makes a world of difference. Even so, paint tends to pool along the edges if too much is applied, so many thin layers is best.

Nice review. I wished Habro would give us finally updated Powermasters. I would be super excited about a Commander class Powermaster Prime, Titan class Overlord, Leader class Dreadwind and Darkwing or any of the other Powermasters. Maybe I just need to go for the G1 toys but they are expensive since I would want them in their boxes since that was what was on the shelve of the toy stores when I was a kid.- 17973 replies

Thanks so much for the kind words. Keep on improving. Terror up next and then I want to get that KOG over the 7777 in the mix. āļø Oof! Pain! This is going to look amazing once itās finished though. That blue is beautiful. So with resin you need to sand all or most surfaces for primer to stick? Is the surface just too slick otherwise?
-
Loving the Schpertor, Bruce! You continue to knock 'em out of the park. š Test-fitting painted parts, removing the last of the masking tape... š«£ Damn. š¤ I don't think I scrubbed or sanded these resin parts enough before applying the primer. Three layers of paint peeled off in an instant! š

Kinda looks like something Rey would see in a dehydration-induced hallucination during a sandstorm. All it needs is a sword! Kidding aside, I get that they want to produce new merch, so they need "new" designs, but I'm really sorry, the design is stupid. The AWACS idea with a radar dish is a good idea, but the wings with the blasters don't fold-away neatly enough in Diver or Soldier mode, so they just hinder movement. The jousting lance looks ridiculously out of place (not to mention horribly balanced!) And those canards... yeah, let's put those in the most awkward location possible to create massive lateral blind spots for the pilot! They could have simply redesigned the LERX to make it different, be useful, stow away neatly in Soldier AND not hinder the pilot's visibility. Also, alot of you who've been around here long enough know I'm not just talking out my a$$, because I have a reputation for back-engineering a lot of those Anime chicken scratchings into functional, physical models. Whoever did this simply wasn't trying.

General Sci-fi designs across various media
F-ZeroOne replied to M'Kyuun's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hah! Just for context, for those who may be unaware, the original Western release of the "Ghost in the Shell" manga was edited, in at least one scene, for... stuff. Don't try and look it up at work! (also, my apologies if you've heard the "Intron Depot" story before, I'm reaching the "Grandpa Simpson" stage of my personal geekdom). "Fashion" is an interesting one because it can apply to mechanical things as much as clothes etc. You can see it with 80s mecha designs, where the somewhat slimmer early to mid 80s mecha designs kinda give way to the "muscle car" mecha designs of things like "Gundam ZZ". And as has been said, some things are almost eternal; the original AV-98 Ingram from "Patlabor" still mostly holds up today and probably still will twenty years from now. After all, in the future... who knows? On the subject of BGCs "Linna", having recently rewatched the series (again!) one thing I was surprised by is despite all Priss grabbing all the attention, its actually Linna who probably kicks the most ars... posterior! -
