It's happening! Henry Cavill will be great in it!!

That being said one of the best things about the original film was the QUEEN soundtrack. Doubt they'll be able to replicate it in the new film, especially with today's music.

I think he's maybe too big for it.  Lambert was just a slender guy.  He looked like the underdog.  Even though he was the title character it still felt like he could lose.

This is one of those films were the magic "worked".  It was a stupid sounding idea perfectly executed.  And as mentioned Queen really helped with that. I'd like to be pleasantly surprised again but I'm not optimistic.

I'm going to agree with this. Unless he's being casted as the villain...

Ok but who's the current Kurgan?

Oh it's Drax.

But in all fairness, to me his performance in Blade Runner 2049 has proven his talent as a serious actor under the right director.

Nothing with his skills. But just doesn't have that natural demonic look that Kurgan had.

Thankfully it ain't Pedro Peanuts...

The way they are casting it might as well be Michael Shannon as Kurgan, lol.

This would have been a full win.

I thought ol’ Dave slimmed down significantly in the past few years.:unknw:

He did, but he still looks stronger than the average Hollywood actor these days and he definitely can act a thousand times better than what I’ve seen from the Rock.

^^True, but Cavill is a pretty big dude himself.

Have always pictured MacLeod being a bit smaller than the Kurgan.

Ditto. Cavil is bad casting physically wise. Connor was the underdog. Look at Cavil he looks like he could take care of himself.

At least they didn’t go with Ryan Reynolds

Pretty sure they can find a way around the actors, but the important thing here is an iconic soundtrack. Soundtracks have been lacking for a few decades and it was something that truly elevated a pretty cool movie back in the 80’s and truly made the original Highlander and absolute all around great movie, even though it really wasn’t a perfect movie. I still think some things could have been written better, but I don’t think about that since the movie is so immersive with scenery, action and sounds throughout.

No, they're saving him for Duncan. And for Ramirez, they'll probably cast:

Spoiler

Keanu Reeves

Frankly, they need to cancel this while they're ahead...

Thought the rumor was that Russell Crowe would be playing Ramirez.

Though, I do find it amusing that the most famous Scot in the original film played an Egyptian, pretending to be a Spaniard, while traipsing around with an anachronistic Japanese katana blade.

Sounds like that speech from RDJ in Tropic Thunder

The soundtrack really was a key to the greatness of the original. The story was good enough and the action wasn’t bad and the main characters were pretty good and it was totally silly to have a Spaniard with a scotch Irish voice that used a Japanese sword, but everything glued together with the greatest movie soundtrack ever.

Connery's Egyptian-cum-Spaniard with the obvious Scottish accent asking his French costar playing a Scotsman about haggis was such tongue-in-cheek comedy gold. "How revolting!" I have to wonder what a laugh they had making that scene.

As to a reboot- why? The original movie was unique and pretty well done for its time. It had some notable performances by the leads, cool music (Queen!), swordfights, immortals, and a neat story. MacLeod won the prize. No more needs to be said or done. I didn't even like the tv show. Highlander 2 doesn't exist. I wasn't aware of the third film. I may have seen it back in the day, but it left so little impression on me that I forgot it completely. I don't think I've seen Endgame or The Source.

Why can't Hollywood create anything new? Unwanted, unneeded reboots suck. Just look at the RoboCop reboot. Forgot about it? Exactly.

Oh, and James MacAvoy would make a good Highlander- he's actually Scottish, not a huge guy, and adept enough to learn swordplay if he hasn't already done so. Ewan MacGregor and Gerard Butler, also Scotsmen, would have made nice cameos as other Immortals, as both are no strangers to swordplay and both can carry a movie on their own.

See MacAvoy vs. Big Dave would be a convincing fight.

James showed some fight in Wanted and in Split.  And has that underdog look, especially against someone much taller like Bautista.

You're not missing much on the "sequels"; thank heaven you never saw the cartoon!!

He likes to be immortal in his films and Hanks likes to be the captain, they could team up

I’ll have to see the sword fights before saying one way or another.

And just pay the royalties to Queen already.  Can’t be a Highlander movie without them in the soundtrack.

Agreed! I'm sure the Highlander reboot will be good but I doubt its soundtrack can be better than what Queen brought to the original.

I did like that the TV Series used Kansas’ Dust in the Wind for a pivotal scene, and I could see them re-using here depending on what story-beats they use.

But the Queen songs just work too damn well.
