I really love the movie version and would also get at least one tv version. The only thing other than larger ships would be the gnerl fighter and I’d definitely get at least one of them

My thoughts exactly. Didn't pull the trigger on that one. But i definitely got the tv Q-Rau. But i can't help feel like I'm adding to a stash i have no idea when i'm gonna see . Also pre ordered the full armor MG ZZ and the hangar w leds.

Chas Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Well I pre-ordered the VT-1. I've had it in mind to do a dio of the tent scene for years now. Plus I couldn't pass up those figures. Now I just gotta figure out what I'm gonna do with the two VT-1 fighters I have in my stash.

You could use the booster engines from both kits to make a special "orbital defender" version, with a pilot and RIO, and devise some "planet buster" multi-launchers for them. That... or a flying billboard for Budweiser.
Gabe Q Posted September 3 Posted September 3 They couldn't be bothered to update the arm armor to the correct TV version. Def gonna pick one up.
KOG Water Dragon Posted September 3 Author Posted September 3 I think they missed a cool opportunity by not having this box art and mirias box art be 2 halves of one super cool large artwork.

Bolt Posted September 3 Posted September 3 I see hlj will be offering unlimited storage in their private warehouse "for a fee" after October. I hope shipping becomes an option by then , I need my Hasegawa deculture!

One of the Macross Option Decal sets from Hasegawa had markings for a nice alternate Super Ostrich scheme. Granted, those decal sets are hard to get now. I think it was an overall creamy beige scheme with some unique squadron markings. Probably originated in Model Graphix? Edited September 3 by KOG Water Dragon
KOG Water Dragon Posted September 3 Author Posted September 3 (edited) I did pre-order both the TV Rau and the VT-1 Gerwalk. Originally I had thought to order 2 of the VT-1 if it can be built 2 ways... but if it's just full gerwalk with arms out or half gerwalk with arms tucked, I think I can just stick with 1 copy. I'm not super enthused about green TV Rau since this would be my 4th Rau kit... but I do like the TV head better. I'm actually much more interested in the VT-1 gerwalk. Nice to see them expanding the gerwalk range. Lack of super parts on it kinda makes me think they won't be doing a VE-1 gerwalk, which is a shame. I know the back parts and head are different, but don't they use the same leg armor? Also, since this is modeled on a specific scene in the movie, and we never see the VE-1 transform in the movie, that also makes me think a gerwalk VE-1 is unlikely. Also: gerwalk VT-1 before VF-1D battroid. 🤪 Really hope they fill this gap in their battroid lineup after the plamax VF-1D battroid is no longer shiny and new. I'm a little surprised they're doing this gerwalk before expanding on the gerwalk VF-0 series... I hope the vf-0s w/ ghost sold well enough to guarantee more gerwalk VF-0 options. Would love a gerwalk VF-0D or VF-0A! Edited September 3 by KOG Water Dragon

Personally, I’ve always loved the tv version more and couldn’t wait for this one. I only bought the M&M versions and skipped the standard purple, mostly cause I don’t really like purple, so this will be my third. Although I’ve been tempted on the purple one because I love that box art and would love to turn it into a sorta wall poster

Maybe I’m being cynical, but I figured they realized they have all the parts already - VT-1 body, fighter arms, and Gerwalk arms and legs - so all they needed for this kit is the artwork and figures. They can create a new model from a key part of the movie with minimal investment in new tooling. I pre-ordered one primarily because of the figures. On my long list of diorama ideas (most of which I’ll probably never get to) is a flight line scene on Earth with a small crowd of pilots and ground crew gathered around a shiny new VT-1 (in fighter mode without FAST packs), sitting beside two older VF-1Ds. I want to depict the arrival of the new trainer variant alongside the old version.

I'm sure I'm sounding like a broken record, but I'm still hoping for a 1/48 VF-1D fighter from Hasegawa. I really like the unique 2-seater cockpit and want to build some of the repurposed VF-1Ds depicted in the Master Files books, like the SVF-37 in a subdued gray scheme with missile loadout.

I mean, it would make sense. But they are pretty slow on 1/48 releases. The last VF-1 boxing variation was released in November 2022 I think. I don't think I've seen many custom VF-1Ds in either fighter or battroid mode. Got anything you can share? While 1/48 VF-1D seems like the easiest thing to pop out next, I'm still also hoping for 1/48 YF-21, especially after it was featured in the box art for the 1/48 YF-19 with fast packs. But I'm not too hard to please, I'd also be cool with 1/48 marking variations for Minmay Guard or Minmay Special.
Bolt Posted September 4 Posted September 4 While i love Hasegawa putting out gerwalks, I'm still not too excited for the VT. If it had come with the booster pack, it would have been no questions asked. I may preorder it for the figures alone , but there's probably a few folks here that could print me some DYRL style figures..

There's such a lack of 1/72 gerwalk kits out there... so I'm sufficiently pleased. I've always liked VT-1. Though yes, it would have been nicer to have optional super packs. I don't really care if never got to see the super version in gerwalk mode in the movie. I remain hopeful we'll get more gerwalk VF-0 options, given how Hasegawa likes to operate. Looking forward, how many would be interested in YF-19 and YF-21 gerwalks? I feel like they'd be natural choices, but the lack of easily recognizable iconic variations could be a problem.
Bolt Posted September 4 Posted September 4 I would love gerwalk yf-19 &21. For sure. we definitely got the VT-1 in gerwalk mode in DYRL. So it would have been a nice package option.
Bolt Posted September 12 Posted September 12 I see DHL is now an option at HLJ. I put together an order of some hasegawa stuff. After duties and handling fees on top of shipping, I cancelled. Way too much..
Graham Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Just wondering if anybody knows why Tenjin is no longer doing the box art for Hasegawa Macross kits? Did Tenjin get too expensive, so that Hasegawa went with other artists? Or Hasegawa just decided to switch it up and try someone different? Or Tenjin finally got bored with doing Macross box art? Or Tenjin is just too busy these days with other projects? Anybody know?

Not sure about the reasoning here, but he also did artwork for many other franchises as well. Maybe he just needed a bit of a rest after being the only major name in the game. I do love the Mercy Rabbit stuff lately and kinda nice to see other great artists pop up. I think there’s a certain bit of story in the Mercy Rabbit stuff that’s kinda exciting on the boxes. I kinda missed old school battle scenes and a lot of the newer box art has had little exciting things going on while still showing off the main attraction up front. Anyway, hope it’s not a bad reason that we don’t get as much Tenjin and just the well deserved resting thing going on
lochness Posted September 12 Posted September 12 I'm super excited about the TV Rau! Ordered right away. Hopefully, Hasegawa actually does new molds for all the differences between the movie and TV suits, i.e. new legs, new head, new antenna and lots of new panel lines on the arms and backpack. Ideally, a TV version of Millia's suit is included as well. Please, please, please. Fingers crossed.

Big s Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Yeah, these new pics got me all excited. I still wish they did the extra art detail, but they did an awesome job of doing the anime style here
Morgen Black Posted September 19 Posted September 19 I will definitely be picking this up when it is released. Great job, Hasegawa! MB
