borgified Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 Oooo… My turn to spin the wheel. Valks: Past (Arcadia Strike VF-1s with the Yamato V.2 valk stand) and Present (DX Delta 31c with Supers). Note that there are no pilots nor armaments.

Technically since it is 2018 , it would be valks past and future. Hmmm... In 2018, would the VF-4 still be a present model? Or would the VF-11 have been introduced by now?
borgified Posted June 17, 2018 Posted June 17, 2018 Good point(s) there @Shizuka the Cat. I wasn't really paying close attention to the Macross timeline when I posted these pics up; however as of the valks in collectable format, then this might be a possibility. This is my understanding based on what I gathered on this website on the Macross Mecha Manual: http://www.macross2.net/m3/m3.html The VF-4 will still be around while the VF-5000 would be on the drawing boards. The VF-11 didn't come into plans until 2028. http://www.macross2.net/m3/flashback2012/vf-4.htm http://macross2.net/m3/macrossplus/vf-5000b.htm http://www.macross2.net/m3/macrossplus/vf-11b.htm Does this help?

Ignacio Ocamica Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 Reposting old pics of the Yamato 1/60 Regult. Wish Arcadia released it in toy form.

Lolicon Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 My DYRL Roy which I started in 2013 and only just now completed. Five years isn't too bad, right? And with that I think I need a break from decaling VF-1s for awhile. Hopefully my PF 0S arrives today and I can start tinkering with that.
sumyumgoy Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Looks great! Love the panel lining/shading...nice and subtle. Did you top coat it too?

wm cheng Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 LOOKS FANTASTIC!!! (Those Hasegawa decals totally paid off!)
Lolicon Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 Thanks guys. The main 1S was finished years ago but I sat on the strike parts and weapons all these years. It was one of those "I'll do it this afternoooooon!" situations where "afternoon" turned into five years.
chyll2 Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 (edited) Weathered, decal'd. The rainbow canopy still being good. So beautiful. @Lolicon are you planning to top coat the strike/super parts as well? Edited June 22, 2018 by chyll2

Xigfrid Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 It is really a beauty! Did you air brush the panel lines or you used the tamiya weathering kit? I think the later but it looks so clean

Slave IV Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 Waterslide decals of Skulls and Kites added to some of my Valks thanks to @Lolicon & @sumyumgoy Need to adjust my printer to print darker and maybe not try to cut circles at 3am but hey, looks better than nothing and I'm happy.
Slave IV Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 No 1/3000 for this thread? Just focus on 1/100 then

Slave IV Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 And Max now has his Kites too. Man, I suck at this! Thank goodness for PF version if I really cared that much.
sh9000 Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 Display the SDF-1 in the distance with DYRL HMR in front of it. That would look sweet.

Looks good to me! Is the decal not laying completely flat on the surface? Some decal softener can easily fix that.

Thanks! I think I may have just gotten lazy and not pressed it flat all the way around with the qtip. Never used decal softener before but I’ll check it out if I need to.
sumyumgoy Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 looks like a nice circle to me! I agree with the decal softener recommendation, you just brush a little bit over it and it'll conform nicely to the shape of the booster.
derex3592 Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 Be very careful with decal softner on decals you printed yourself.....
Slave IV Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 Thanks for the compliments and recommendations! I've never had to use decal softener before and this shouldn't be an issue since it is just a smooth flat surface. I think the issue was just me half assing the job. If I redo it, I will post new pics to see the difference. Looking at it again, I think it may benefit from a topcoat if I do redo it so I'll see how it all turns out.

Make sure that if you're going to use decal softener, apply a topcoat first on your decal. Without so, the softener will ruin your printed decal.
