Dynaman Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 "You sank my childhood!" Yours, mine, anyone who is no longer a child is safe - but just think of all the poor generations yet unborn who will ever more have this terrible looking movie linked with the game? I predict that future versions of the game will include video clips of the movie that play when hits are made. (actually, I predict a big bomb of a movie which sadly means it will be a blockbuster tentpole movie)
Jefuemon Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 For a change of flavor, here's the Japanese trailer.
Beltane70 Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 My question is, which battleship is it? Will they go with one of the actual Iowa-class names, or will they use a totally different state name?
David Hingtgen Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I believe it's supposed to be the Missouri. (I'd have used the Kentucky, as it was actually built but not finished---would have worked very well in an alternate history) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Kentucky_(BB-66)
Graham Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I think it would be cool in the movie, if the aliens dropped big, white, peg shaped cylinders from the sky, which if they hit the humans warship turned red. Graham
electric indigo Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 My question is, which battleship is it? Will they go with one of the actual Iowa-class names, or will they use a totally different state name? It's the USS Milton Bradley, of course.
Beltane70 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Me being a bit biased would like it to be the New Jersey.
Dynaman Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Me being a bit biased would like it to be the New Jersey. You should make that anything BUT the Jersey. I smell stink bomb coming from this movie.
pfunk Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 wow, the game is a navy strategy game, not a surprise attack by aliens,,,,,, makes no sense
Gubaba Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Interesting. Kinda... In a "How badly will this suck?" kinda way, yeah.
sketchley Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 In a "How badly will this suck?" kinda way, yeah. One never knows. It could be so bad that it's good - in a forgettable kinda way. Anyhow, I had fun yesterday mulling over what kind of battleship based movie I'd make. The most intriguing idea was having the aliens kidnapping ships and crews from all historical periods - US, UK, Russia, German, etc. - and forcing them to shoot at each other, with their big guns and no radar, first in a thick fog, then in a nasty alien typhoon or something. You know, can't see exactly where the other fleet is... just like the actual game! I felt it gave the best chance to show a range of naval ships, the big guns firing - a lot! - and some interesting character dynamics. Kinda a cross between that most recent Predators movie and the Philadelphia Experiment. What do you think... should I have gotten the writing job for the movie?

I dunno...I'm curious to see what you'd do with, say, "Operation." Or maybe (since AgentONE brought it up) "Hungry Hungry Hippos."
pfunk Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 (edited) What do you think... should I have gotten the writing job for the movie? as far as accuracy you are definitely closer I dunno...I'm curious to see what you'd do with, say, "Operation." sketchley Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 (edited) Operation... hmmm... cross between The Reanimater, Planet Terror (Grindhouse), and the Devil's Advocate (hey, we're talking zombies, right. Might as well add in a malpractice case... with the Devil!) Hungry Hungry Hippos - cross between Anaconda, and the Congo (hippos and water - what says that better than that African river. Though... if I set it there, I'd get sidetracked by the fish that dies from depressurization, and THE Tigerfish. Man... that fish just screams movie: (The guy holding the fish here looks scary, too. Hire him!) Even the babies look mean: Edited February 15, 2012 by sketchley

You heard it here first, folks!

Ghost Train Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 (edited) LOL Slip and Slide ROFL . On a very off-topic note... where is my Jersey Shore: The Motion Picture movie? Edited March 14, 2012 by Ghost Train
Graham Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 "shoots" and ladders? Known in Britain, if not the rest of the world as "Snakes and Ladders". Graham After watching trailer 3, all I can say is "oh dear". Graham
Jefuemon Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 "From Hasbro the company that brought you TRANSFORMERS" yeesh........

Graham Aside from the eye rolls and the feelings of plot dejavu, it was all yawn... ... aside from the one moment of wondering what the heck a respectable actor like Liam Neeson is doing in the movie. Maybe the same thing as Gwyneth Paltrow is doing in the Iron Man movies? anyhow... quite surprised that Robot Chicken and I are on the same wavelength.
Graham Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 I'd pay to see that Hungry Hippos movie. That is all kinds of awesome. Graham
derex3592 Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 I'd pay to see that Hungry Hippos movie. That is all kinds of awesome. Graham HUGE +1!!!
areaseven Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Meanwhile... The Asylum Answers Battleship with Their American Battleship... and Guess Who Has the Better Cast?
David Hingtgen Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 It's got the USS Iowa? That automatically makes it better IMHO.
Knight26 Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 I will play devils advocate, Battleship could have been made good if done as a period piece from when we actually used battleships, and if it was about a naval engagement with other real ships that was covered up for some reason. On second thought no, no, it wouldn't
