The face doesn’t look as bad as some of the other ones, but still looks like he’s wearing some dudes undies on his face

It’s a pretty good looking figma, but really expensive for me right now. I also kinda liked their JSDF soldier, but I really don’t want to pay over a $100 bucks for a figma that isn’t a must buy item. Action figures are really getting pricey these days

If all the Japanese sites sell out, then often American sites have them available. Try Entertainment Earth or Big Bad Toy Store or USA Gundam Store. Just remember that they will get product later and have higher price attached. But if you’re in a pinch and totally missed out on something you really really want, then at least there’s an option

I have a feeling that that’s gonna be an actual Bandai release eventually. Might be a standard release, but probably a web exclusive. I do love seeing people excited enough to do their own customs though

The movie is still one of if not my favorite comic book adaptation and I’m sure I’ll love the anime especially since they got the old crew back together for the voiceovers

That figure was the one I was referring to, but doesn’t seem to be included here since as the translation you pointed out said it’s for a web exclusive thing for the academy site. the kit does look pretty cool and I’m glad it’s getting the wider release. I missed out on the Academy release, but totally jumped at this one. I think the only thing not in color here is the pilot figures. There does appear to be some minor seams, but even that looks minimal and you may easily be able to ignore them. I hope there’s more than just the Gallient in the works since there’s a few others from the show that I love. And I wouldn’t mind if they do some of the ova designs. I also like that old school box art style

Wave release of big red in 1/72. It seems to be a collaboration with academy and goes up for preorder tonight I think that it’s probably just a distribution thing similar to orange cat. Not sure if it’ll have everything the initial tease offered, but it looks pretty cool

Aoshima is rereleasing some old kits. Not super pretty, but I love the artwork and hobbysearch has it so you can check out those fun illustrations in the instruction manuals.

I sometimes wish I was still excited about comics, but the big name’s really got weird in the 90’s and 2000’s and I kinda only like oddball stuff nowadays. But I haven’t been keeping up with anything lately. I really loved X-men comics before they got too expensive to keep up with during those awkward crossovers in the late 80’s and early 90’s that happened way too often

That’s what I’m talking about. The matte/dull coating can protect paint work while giving a bit of grit for certain weathering techniques. I find that oils and enamel weathering works better over clear gloss while things like water based types and dry pastels can work better with matte coats, but like I said before, experimenting with different techniques to find what works can show you what works best for you.
-
Chalk pastels when ground down can make for realistic soot effects. It helps over dull finish and sometimes a little water helps to stick it to places where you really want it heavy. You can also easily wash away mistakes or use a brush dipped in water to pull the spot in the proper direction. Add a dull coat at the end when you’re satisfied with the results. there are many ways to do weathering and it sounds like you have a good amount of items that can be used already. I would suggest practicing on the spruce parts with raised letters or numbers and see what works. Have fun experimenting and see which methods work best.
-
One of the more fun weathering items if found lately are water color pencils. If you’re going over a kit that’s already been dull coated then you can do simple things like draw on it like you would a color pencil or dip the tip in a bit of water to make smudges and you can wipe away extra mess with a damp tissue or a q tip. AK sells a set, but you can usually get some from a generic art company cheaper through something like amazon.

I definitely agree there. They’re a lot of great details and awesome paint application as well as a great use of the softer plastic to allow for extreme mobility. All that and a great subject.

[A24] Everything Everywhere All At Once
Big s replied to Old_Nash's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The academy awards are famous for doing things like that. Often what could have been a better performance or film that year gets snubbed for people feeling sorry for an older actor or actress or director and they forget that the award isn’t a lifetime achievement award, but supposed to go to the best that year -

I kinda wonder if it’s a waste of time as well. On one hand it’s got a lot of awards, on the other it’s also a multiverse movie. I never liked the multiverse stuff to begin with and marvel and dc are currently running the concept into the ground. I guess it would kinda be like recommending Rocky to someone that absolutely hates sports movies or sports in general. The fans and critics love it, but would someone that’s not into that genre really care? -
If you have further questions feel free to ask. There really isn’t a definitive how to these days, but many of the folks here would be able to give further advice
