I kinda get the feeling that it may not be long before Aoshima revisits the franchise or that Moderoid picking up every classic license possible may give us something. It is too bad the figma stuff never happened though

The 'Hey look at this really cool model build I saw' post
Big s replied to Shawn's topic in Model kits
That’s really great. -
At least her lightsabers worked unlike the ones in modern Star Wars. I still think it would’ve been cooler to swap her for the spider lady.

I just finished it, and that really is my biggest complaint about the movie. It’s really way over used and like you said, not even appropriately. It’s like he rewatched 300 and remembered he had an idea people liked decades ago and forgot that people got tired of it pretty quickly. The movie had some great looking action sequences that would’ve been amazing at normal speed without the slowdown, but with it, it makes every battle tedious and I couldn’t wait for the action scenes to be done. Action scenes aside, I think I could have actually liked the movie for the most part, especially if they tweaked the story just a bit. Things are so cliche that they feel way too obvious as to what’s coming next and nothing is surprising, and some things are just disappointing. It felt like everyone just joined up way too easily. like there’s a guy that everyone is warned won’t give them a chance to explain things and would just kill them if they tried, but after a quick nudge he’s their best buddy or something. There are also entire scenes that just seem to happen and you get the “we’re already there “ kinda feel. There’s also an extraordinary push for the “strong female character” thing with most of the male characters being evil or killed off easily or being useless or even though they have a lot of muscle they can’t throw a punch to save their lives or just getting molested. Honestly, that farmer should have just stayed home, there really was no reason for him to even go along he really added nothing and just gets in the way Overall since it does do some things right and a few things wrong I think it’s worth a watch, especially if you already have Netflix and you don’t have to buy a ticket. It’s sort of a Warhammer 40k mixed with Star Wars kinda theme and those comparisons are extremely obvious. It at least is better than most of the newer Star Wars stuff

Bandai does tend to overdo the markings with Macross and Gundamhigh end stuff, but on a toy it usually leaves the option to remove those markings or lines if someone wants to or not. I tend to do mostly kits and the waterslide packs that do come out are unfortunately more heavy on generic caution markings than emblem or number and alphabet decals in the proper font or size. At least the toy is marked up with everything needed and people can customize their toy by removing markings or panel lining them and even customizing them how they want. If you paid the cash it’s yours to do what you want or enjoy the item as is.

It’s weird cause I almost never fall asleep during movies, especially action films, but something about that slow motion thing just made me drowsy. Like they found a way to make energetic action scenes slow and tedious. I think I’d be more awake if there was a cut of this film that had a continuous speed and it would probably cut thirty minutes from the run time. The story didn’t seem bad, mostly cliched and awkwardly rushed but not dull.

I got halfway through Rebel moon and fell asleep around the point where it was showing the little girl being guarded by the main character. So it’s not terrible or anything, but the slow mo is way way overdone and every time something starts to happen, the brakes are put on and it made me feel really tired. Like said above, the spider lady should have been a cool ally type character. I’ll try a finish this off tomorrow

When the model doesn’t come with what you need, sometimes you just gotta make do with what you got on hand. If you hadn’t pointed it out, I might has e actually thought that was an included pilot figure for Ken. It’s more obvious once pointed out when I saw a bottom to the helmet but like I said above, I didn’t notice until it was mentioned
-
Those undead stormtroopers sure were lame in the show. The figures look great for being based of a stupid scene

Oddly I think the hasegawa has more detail than I realized from the pictures of the kit. There’s like a grating detail on a lot of the black pieces that I didn’t know were there until I had the kit in hand. as far as the old tv version, it has more surface details from the artwork pictures of it. I don’t think I’ve seen any pictures of the movie one with all that kinda stuff and I think that’s why hasegawa didn’t add them. Oddly the prototype for the Bandai hmr does have them

Looks nice

Someone else brought that one up maybe in another thread. I love the intro to that show and the little magnet guys were neat. I only had a few but really wanted more back then

Not gonna lie, they do look pretty cool. They actually look far better than they deserve to be.

I personally love the older stuff. It had more of an elegant style and you could tell easily what you were looking at. The new stuff just has a junky thrown together look that I just can’t get into. It kinda reminds me of Bayformers with spikey bits
-
Yeah, the Hasegawa has some surprisingly beefy fingers compared to pretty much everything that’s come before. There’s a lot that Hasegawa did right, but it would be great if like you said they used it as a bench mark. I’m sure Bandai will have somewhat better articulation and if they improve their sculpt I’d be all in
-
This is one of those ugly designs that it’s hard to tell what you’re looking at. It just looks like an odd pile of spikey junk
-
I’m just hoping it’s still just an early prototype. There’s definitely something there, but it really needs refinement. I really hate those tiny hands
-
I’m in the same boat there. Space is also a bit of a factor, but yeah price is crazy $300 bucks is $200 bucks more than I want to spend on a toy, but even though I try to make exceptions, that price is still way too high
